2 Samuel 9

1 Et David dit: Reste-t-il encore un rejeton de la maison de Saül, afin que je sois envers lui miséricordieux pour l'amour de Jonathan?

And David said, “Do you think that there could be anyone left from the house of Saul, so that I might show mercy to him because of Jonathan?”

2 Or, il y avait dans la maison de Saül un serviteur qui se nommait Siba; on le fit venir auprès de David, et le roi lui dit: Tu es Siba? Et il répondit: Je suis ton serviteur.

Now there was, from the house of Saul, a servant named Ziba. And when the king had called him to himself, he said to him, “Are you not Ziba?” And he responded, “I am your servant.”

3 Et le roi lui dit: Reste-t-il encore un homme de la maison de Saül pour que j'exerce envers lui la miséricorde de Dieu? Et Siba répondit au roi: Il existe un fils de Jonathan, infirme des pieds.

And the king said, “Could there be anyone alive from the house of Saul, so that I may show the mercy of God to him?” And Ziba said to the king, “There is left alive a son of Jonathan, with disabled feet.”

4 Le roi dit: Où est-il? Et Siba répondit au roi: Voici; il est en la maison de Machir, fils d'Amiel de Lodabar.

“Where is he?” he said. And Ziba said to the king, “Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.”

5 Et le roi David envoya des gens, et il le retira de la maison de Machir, fils d'Amiel en Lodabar.

Therefore, king David sent and brought him from the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lodebar.

6 Et Miphiboseth fils de Jonathan, fils de Saül, comparut devant le roi David; il tomba la face contre terre et il le salua, et David lui dit: Miphiboseth; et il répondit: Voici ton serviteur.

And when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, had come to David, he fell upon his face, and he reverenced. And David said, “Mephibosheth?” And he responded, “Your servant is here.”

7 David lui dit: N'aie point crainte, car je serai miséricordieux envers toi pour l'amour de Jonathan, ton père; je te rendrai tous les champs de Saül, père de ton père, et tu mangeras tous les jours à ma table.

And David said to him: “Do not be afraid. For I will certainly show mercy to you because of your father Jonathan. And I will restore to you all the fields of your father Saul. And you shall eat bread at my table always.”

8 Et Miphiboseth se prosterna, et il dit: Qui suis-je donc, moi, ton serviteur, pour que tu aies jeté les regards sur un chien mort tel que je suis?

And reverencing him, he said, “Who am I, your servant, that you should look with favor upon a dead dog like me?”

9 Et le roi appela Siba, le serviteur de Saül, et il lui dit: Tout ce qui appartenait à Saül et dépendait de sa maison, je l'ai donné au fils de ton maître.

And so, the king called Ziba, the servant of Saul, and he said to him: “Everything whatsoever that belonged to Saul, and his entire house, I have given to the son of your lord.

10 Va donc, avec tes fils et tes serviteurs, labourer ses terres, et tu apporteras au fils de ton maître le pain qu'il mangera, et Miphiboseth, fils de ton maître, mangera toujours du pain à ma table. Or, Siba avait quinze fils et vingt serviteurs.

And so, work the land for him, you and your sons and your servants. And you shall bring in food for the son of your lord, for nourishment. And Mephibosheth, the son of your lord, shall always eat bread at my table.” Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.

11 Et Siba répondit au roi: Tout ce que le roi mon maître a prescrit à son serviteur, son serviteur l'exécutera. Et Miphiboseth mangea à la table de David comme l'un des fils du roi.

And Ziba said to the king: “Just as my lord has ordered your servant, so will your servant do. And Mephibosheth shall eat at my table, like one of the sons of the king.”

12 Or, Miphiboseth avait un fils tout petit qui se nommait Micha; et tous ceux qui habitaient la maison de Siba étaient ses serviteurs.

Now Mephibosheth had a young son whose name was Mica. Truly, all the kindred of the house of Ziba served Mephibosheth.

13 Et Miphiboseth résida à Jérusalem, et il mangea toujours à la table du roi; or, il était boiteux des deux pieds.

But Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem. For he was fed always from the table of the king. And he was lame in both feet.
