2 Samuel 16

1 David s'était à peine éloigné de Rhos, quand arriva, devant lui, Siba, le serviteur de Miphiboseth, avec deux ânes chargés; or, il y avait sur les ânes deux cents pains, cent sacs de raisins secs, cent sacs de dattes et un nébel de vin.

And when David was a little past the top of the ascent, behold, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him with a couple of saddled donkeys, and upon them two hundred loaves of bread, and a hundred clusters of raisins, and a hundred of summer fruits, and a bottle of wine.

2 Et le roi dit à Siba: Que veux-tu faire de cela? Siba répondit: Les bêtes sont à la famille du roi, pour qu'elle les monte; les pains et les dalles, aux jeunes serviteurs, pour qu'ils les mangent; le vin, à ceux qui tomberont de fatigue dans le désert, pour qu'ils le boivent.

And the king said to Ziba, What do thou mean by these? And Ziba said, The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on, and the bread and summer fruit for the young men to eat, and the wine, that such as are faint in the wilderness may drink.

3 David reprit: Où est le fils de ton maître? Et Siba répondit: Il est resté à Jérusalem, parce qu'il a dit: Aujourd'hui la maison d'Israël va me rendre la royauté de mon père.

And the king said, And where is thy master's son? And Ziba said to the king, Behold, he abides at Jerusalem, for he said, Today the house of Israel will restore for me the kingdom of my father.

4 Et le roi dit à Siba: Tout ce qui appartenait à Miphiboseth est à toi; et Siba, se prosternant, lui répondit: Puissé-je avoir trouvé grâce à tes yeux, ô roi, mon maître.

Then the king said to Ziba, Behold, all that pertains to Mephibosheth is thine. And Ziba said, I do obeisance. Let me find favor in thy sight, my lord, O king.

5 Et le roi David alla jusqu'à Bathurim, et il sortit de là un homme de la famille de Saül, nommé Sémeï, fils de Géra; il sortit; et, en marchant, il maudissait David;

And when king David came to Bahurim, behold, there came out from there a man of the family of the house of Saul whose name was Shimei, the son of Gera. He came out, cursing as he came.

6 Il jetait des pierres au roi et à tous ses serviteurs. Or, tout le peuple était là avec tous les hommes vaillants, les uns à droite, les autres à la gauche du roi.

And he cast stones at David, and at all the servants of king David, and all the people and all the mighty men were on his right hand and on his left.

7 Sémeï maudissait donc, disant: Hors d'ici, hors d'ici, homme de sang, homme de péché!

And thus said Shimei when he cursed, Begone, begone, thou man of blood, and base fellow.

8 Le Seigneur a fait retomber sur toi tout le sang de la maison de Saül, après que tu as régné à sa place. Et le Seigneur a donné ton royaume à ton fils Absalon; te voilà pris dans ta propre méchanceté, parce que tu es un homme de sang.

Jehovah has returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul in whose stead thou have reigned. And Jehovah has delivered the kingdom into the hand of Absalom thy son, and, behold, thou are taken in thine own mischief because thou are a man of blood.

9 Abessa, fils de Sarvia, dit à David: Pourquoi ce chien mort maudit-il le roi mon maître? Je vais à lui, et je lui trancherai la tête.

Then Abishai the son of Zeruiah said to the king, Why should this dead dog curse my lord the king? Let me go over, I pray thee, and take off his head.

10 Mais le roi répondit: Qu'y a-t-il entre vous et moi, fils de Sarvia? Laisse-le, et qu'il continue de maudire, car le Seigneur lui a dit de maudire David; qui donc ira lui dire: D'où vient que tu agis de la sorte?

And the king said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah? Because he curses, and because Jehovah has said to him, Curse David, who then shall say, Why have thou done so?

11 David dit encore à Abessa et à tous ses serviteurs: Voilà que mon fils, sorti de mes entrailles, en veut à ma vie, et en outre vous entendez maintenant ce fils de Benjamin; laissez-le maudire, car le Seigneur le lui a dit.

And David said to Abishai, and to all his servants, Behold, my son, who came forth from my bowels, seeks my life. How much more this Benjamite? Let him alone, and let him curse, for Jehovah has bidden him.

12 S'il advient que le Seigneur jette un regard sur mon humiliation, il me rendra ses bienfaits pour prix des malédictions de cet homme.

It may be that Jehovah will look on the wrong done to me, and that Jehovah will reward me good for his cursing of me this day.

13 Et David continua de suivre la route avec tous les siens; et Seine, sur les flancs de la montagne, s'attachant à ses pas, continua de le maudire, de lui jeter des pierres, et de faire voler sur lui la poussière du chemin.

So David and his men went by the way, and Shimei went along on the hill-side opposite him, and cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.

14 Le roi et tout le peuple qui l'accompagnait arrivèrent à Bathurim exténués de fatigue; ils y reprirent haleine.

And the king, and all the people who were with him, came weary, and he refreshed himself there.

15 Absalon venait donc d'entrer à Jérusalem, et avec lui tous les hommes d'Israël, et Achitophel.

And Absalom, and all the people, the men of Israel, came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel with him.

16 Quand Chusaï, le favori de David, alla trouver Absalon, et lui dit: Vive le roi!

And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David's friend, came to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, Live, O king. Live, O king.

17 Absalon dit à Chusaï: Voilà comme tu as compassion de ton ami? Pourquoi n'es-tu pas parti avec ton ami?

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? Why did thou not go with thy friend?

18 Dieu m'en garde, reprit Chusaï; je suivrai celui qu'ont choisi le Seigneur, et tout le peuple et tout Israël; je serai à lui, je résiderai où il résidera.

And Hushai said to Absalom, No, but whom Jehovah, and this people, and all the men of Israel have chosen, his will I be, and with him I will abide.

19 Et, encore une fois, qui donc servirais-je, si ce n'est le fils de mon maître? Comme j'ai servi ton père, je te servirai.

And again, whom should I serve? Is it not in the presence of his son? As I have served in thy father's presence, so I will be in thy presence.

20 Absalon dit ensuite à Achitophel: Délibérez entre vous sur ce que nous ferons.

Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, Give your counsel what we shall do.

21 Et Achitophel dit à Absalon: Approche-toi des concubines de ton père, qu'il a laissées pour garder son palais; tout Israël apprendra que tu as déshonoré ton père, et les mains de ceux de ton parti seront fortifiées.

And Ahithophel said to Absalom, Go in to thy father's concubines that he has left to keep the house, and all Israel will hear that thou are abhorred by thy father. Then the hands of all who are with thee will be strong.

22 Puis, ils dressèrent une tente sur la plate-forme du palais, et Absalon s'approcha des concubines de son père aux yeux de tout Israël.

So they spread Absalom a tent upon the top of the house, and Absalom went in to his father's concubines in the sight of all Israel.

23 Les conseils que donnait Achitophel, en ces premiers jours, étaient reçus comme ceux d'un homme qui aurait consulté Dieu. Ainsi pensaient de tout conseil d'Achitophel David aussi bien qu'Absalon.

And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he gave in those days, was as if a man inquired at the oracle of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.
