1 Et ils rapportèrent au roi ces paroles; et il envoya des messagers, et il assembla autour de lui tous les anciens de Juda et de Jérusalem.
And thei telden to the kyng that, that sche seide; `which kyng sente, and alle the elde men of Juda, and of Jerusalem, weren gaderid to hym.
2 Et le roi monta au temple du Seigneur avec tout Juda, tous les habitants de Jérusalem, les prêtres, les prophètes, tout le peuple, depuis le petit jusqu'au grand, et il lut à leurs oreilles toutes les paroles du livre de l'alliance trouvé dans le temple du Seigneur.
And the kyng stiede in to the temple of the Lord, and alle the men of Juda, and alle men that dwelliden in Jerusalem with hym, the preestis, and the prophetis, and al the puple, fro litil `til to greet; and he redde, while alle men herden, alle the wordis of the book of boond of pees of the Lord, which book was foundun in the hows of the Lord.
3 Ensuite, le roi, debout sur le piédestal, renouvela l'alliance devant le Seigneur, afin de suivre le Seigneur, de garder ses commandements, ses témoignages et ses justices, de tout son cœur, dans la plénitude de son âme; et enfin, de faire revivre toutes les paroles de l'alliance écrite dans le livre; or, tout le peuple acquiesça à l'alliance.
And the kyng stood on the grees; and he smoot boond of pees bifor the Lord, that thei schulden go aftir the Lord, and kepe hise comaundementis and witnessyngis and cerymonyes in al the herte and in al the soule, that thei schulden reise the wordis of this boond of pees, that weren writun in that book; and the puple assentide to the couenaunt.
4 Et le roi prescrivit à Helcias le grand prêtre, aux prêtres du second rang et aux gardiens de la porte, d'enlever du temple du Seigneur tous les vases faits pour Baal, pour le bois sacré et pour l'armée du ciel; il les brûla hors de Jérusalem dans la vallée de Cédron, et il en fit porter les cendres à Béthel.
And the kyng comaundide to Helchie, the bischop, and to the preestis of the secounde ordre, and to the porteris, that thei schulden caste out of the temple alle the vesselis, that weren maad to Baal, and in the wode, and to al the knyythod of heuene; and he brente tho vessels with out Jerusalem, in the euene valey of Cedron, and he bar the poudir of tho `vessels in to Bethel.
5 Puis, il brûla vifs les prêtres idolâtres qu'avaient institués les rois de Juda et qui encensaient sur les hauts lieux, soit dans les villes de Juda, soit autour de Jérusalem, et aussi ceux qui encensaient Baal, le soleil, la lune, les douze signes et toute l'armée du ciel.
And he dide awei false dyuynours `that dyuynyden in the entrailis of beestis sacrified to idols, whiche the kingis of Juda hadden sett to make sacrifice in hiy thingis bi the citees of Juda, and in the cumpas of Jerusalem; and he dide awey hem that brenten encense to Baal, and to the sunne, and to the moone, and to twelue signes, and to al the knyythod of heuene.
6 Et il emporta l'idole des bois sacrés hors du temple, hors de Jérusalem dans le torrent de Cédron; il la réduisit en cendres qu'il dispersa sur la sépulture des fils du peuple.
And he made the wode to be borun out of the hows of the Lord without Jerusalem in the euene valey of Cedron, and he brente it there; and he droof it in to poudir, and castide it forth on the sepulcris of the comyn puple.
7 Il démolit la demeure des initiés qu'on avait construite dans le temple, et où les femmes tissaient des tentes pour le bois sacré.
Also he distriede the litle housis of `men turnyd into wommens condiciouns, whiche housis weren in the hows of the Lord; for whiche the wymmen `maden as litil howsis of the wode.
8 Il assembla ensuite tous les prêtres des villes de Juda; et il souilla les hauts lieux, où les prêtres avaient brûlé de l'encens, depuis Gebal jusqu'à Bersabée; puis, il abattit la maison des portes, à côté de la demeure de de Josué, prince de Jérusalem, à gauche, en sortant de la ville.
And he gaderide alle the preestis fro the citees of Juda, and he defoulide the hiye thingis, where the preestis maden sacrifice, fro Gabaa `til to Bersabee; and he distriede the auters of yatis in the entryng of the dore of Josie, prince of a citee, which dore was at the lift half of the yate of the cytee.
9 Cependant, les prêtres des hauts lieux ne montèrent plus à l'autel du Seigneur à Jérusalem, à moins qu'ils n'eussent mangé des azymes au milieu de leurs frères.

10 Josias souilla encore Tapheth dans le val des fils d'Ennom, où ils faisaient passer dans la flamme de Moloch, les uns leurs fils, les autres leurs filles.
Also he defoulide Tophet, which is in the euene valey of the sone of Ennon, that no man schulde halewe his sone ether his douytir bi fier to Moloch.
11 Il brûla les chevaux que les rois de Juda avaient consacrés au soleil, à l'entrée du temple, dans le trésor de Nathan, eunuque du roi, à Pharurim; il brûla en outre le char du soleil,
Also he dide awei horsis, whiche the kyngis of Juda hadden youe to the sunne, in the entryng of the temple of the Lord, bisidis the chaumbir of Nathanmalech, geldyng, that was in Pharurym; forsothe he brente bi fier the charis of the sunne.
12 Et les autels que les rois de Juda avaient élevés sur la terrasse au- dessus de la chambre d'Achaz, et ceux que Manassé avait construits dans les deux parvis du temple; il en fit jeter les cendres dans le torrent de Cédron.
Also the kyng distriede the auteris, that weren on the roouys of the soler of Achaz, whiche auteris the kyngis of Juda hadden maad; and the kyng distriede the auteris, whiche Manasses hadde maad in the twei grete placis of the temple of the Lord; and he ran fro thennus, and scateride the askis of tho in to the strond of Cedron.
13 Le roi souilla aussi le temple que Salomon, roi d'Israël, avait érigé en face de Jérusalem, à droite du chemin de la montagne de Mosthath, en l'honneur d'Astarté, abomination des Sidoniens et de Chamos, abomination de Moab et de Moloch, abomination des Ammonites.
Also the kyng defoulide the hiye thingis, that weren in Jerusalem at the riyt part of the hil of offencioun, whiche Salomon, kyng of Israel, hadde bildid to Astroth, the ydol of Sidoneis, and to Chamos, the offencioun of Moab, and to Melchon, abhominacioun of the sones of Amon;
14 Il mit en pièces leurs colonnes, détruisit leurs bois sacrés, et remplit d'ossements humains le lieu où on les adorait.
and he al to-brak ymagis, and kittide doun wodis, and fillide the places of tho with the boonys of deed men.
15 Puis, il abattit l'autel qu'en Béthel, sur le haut lieu, Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, avait élevé et où il avait fait tomber tout le peuple dans le péché; il le démolit. Il en broya les pierres, il les réduisit en poudre, et il brûla le bois sacré.
Ferthermore also he distriede the auter that was in Bethel, and `he distriede the hiye thing, which Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, hadde maad, that made Israel to do synne; and he distriede that hiy autir, and brente it, and al to brak it in to poudir, and kittide doun also the wode.
16 Et Josias, se détournant, vit les sépulcres de cette ville; aussitôt, il donna ses ordres: il en fit extraire les ossements, et il les brûla sur l'autel pour le souiller, selon la parole du Seigneur qu'avait dite l'homme de Dieu quand Jéroboam avait célébré la fête de l'autel; puis, se retournant encore, il leva les yeux et il vit la sépulture de cet homme de Dieu qui avait dit ces paroles.
And Josias turnyde, and siy there sepulcris that weren in the hil; and he sente, and took the boonys fro the sepulcris, and brente tho on the auter, and defoulide it bi the word of the Lord, which word the man of God spak, that biforseide these wordis.
17 Et il dit: Quel est ce tombeau que j'aperçois? Et les hommes de la ville lui répondirent: Celui de l'homme de Dieu qui est venu de Juda, et qui a fait les imprécations contre l'autel de Béthel.
And the kyng seide, What is this biriel, which Y se? And the citeseyns of that citee answeriden to hym, It is the sepulcre of the man of God, that cam fro Juda, and biforseide these wordis, whiche thou hast doon on the auter of Bethel.
18 Et le roi dit: Respectez-le; que nul n'enlève ses ossements. Et ses os furent sauvés avec ceux du prophète qui était venu de Samarie.
And the kyng seide, Suffre ye hym; no man moue hise boonys. And hise boonys dwelliden vntouchid with the boones of the prophete, that cam fro Samarie.
19 Josias détruisit donc tous les temples des hauts lieux que les rois d'Israël avaient élevés dans les villes de Samarie, pour y irriter le Seigneur, et il y fit la même chose qu'à Béthel.
Ferthermore also Josias dide awei alle the templis of hiye thingis, that weren in the citees of Samarie, whiche the kyngis of Israel hadden maad to terre the Lord to ire; and he dide to tho templis bi alle thingis whiche he hadde do in Bethel.
20 Et il sacrifia sur leurs autels tous les prêtres des hauts lieux qui étaient là, il y brûla les os des hommes, et il retourna à Jérusalem.
And he killide alle the preestis of hiye thingis, that weren there on the auteris, and he brente mennus boonus on tho auteris; and he turnede ayen to Jerusalem;
21 Et le roi donna ses ordres à tout le peuple, disant: Immolez la pâque au Seigneur notre Dieu, comme il est écrit au livre de cette alliance.
and comaundide to al the puple, and seide, Make ye pask to `youre Lord God, vp that, that is writun in the book of this boond of pees.
22 Car, on n'avait point ainsi célébré cette fête depuis le temps des Juges qui jugeaient Israël; ni sous les rois d'Israël, ni sous les rois de Juda.
Forsothe sich pask was not maad, fro the daies of iugis that demyden Israel, and of alle daies of the kyngis of Israel and of Juda,
23 Ce ne fut qu'en la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias, que l'on immola la pâque au Seigneur à Jérusalem
as this pask was maad to the Lord in Jerusalem in the eiytenthe yeer of kyng Josias.
24 En outre, Josias extermina les initiés et les devins; Il détruisit les idoles, les images et toutes les abominations qui existaient tant à Jérusalem qu'en Juda, afin de respecter les paroles de la Loi écrite dans le livre, que le prêtre Chelsias avait trouvé dans la maison du Seigneur.
But also Josias dide awei men hauynge fendis spekinge in her wombis, and false diuinouris in auteris, and `he dide awei the figuris of idols, and alle vnclennessis, and abhomynaciouns, that weren in the lond of Juda and in Jerusalem, that he schulde do the wordis of the lawe, that weren writun in the book, `which book Elchie, the preest, foond in the temple of the Lord.
25 Il n'y avait point eu auparavant de roi qui, comme lui, se convertît à Dieu de tout son cœur, de toute son âme et de toutes ses forces, conformément à la loi de Moïse; et il n'y en eut point après lui.

26 Mais le Seigneur ne détourna point la colère dont il était enflammé contre Juda, à cause des offenses qu'il avait reçues de Manassé.
Netheles the Lord was not turned awei fro the ire of his greet veniaunce, bi which his strong veniaunce was wrooth ayens Juda, for the terryngis to ire by whiche Manasses hadde terrid hym to ire.
27 Et le Seigneur dit: J'expulserai aussi Juda de devant ma face comme j'ai expulsé Israël; je répudierai cette ville que j'avais choisie, cette Jérusalem, et le temple dont j'avais dit: C'est là que sera mon nom.
Therfor the Lord seide, Y schal do awei also Juda fro my face, as Y dide awei Israel; and Y schal caste awei this citee, which Y chees, Jerusalem, and the hows `of which Y seide, My name schal be there.
28 Quant au reste de l'histoire de Josias, n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Faits et gestes des rois de Juda?
Forsothe the residue of wordis of Josias, and alle thingis whiche he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Juda?
29 Sous son règne, le Pharaon d'Égypte Néchao marcha sur le fleuve Euphrate contre le roi des Assyriens; Josias se porta à sa rencontre, et Néchao le tua à Mageddo, au premier choc.
In the daies of hym Farao Nechao, kyng of Egipt, stiede ayens the kyng of Assiriens, to the flood Eufrates; and Josias, kyng of Juda, yede in to metyng of hym, and Josias was slayn in Magedo, whanne he hadde seyn hym.
30 Les serviteurs placèrent son corps sur un char, et le ramenèrent de Mageddo à Jérusalem, et ils l'ensevelirent dans son sépulcre; alors, le peuple de la terre prit Joachaz, fils de Josias; il le sacra, et il le proclama roi la place de son père.
And `hise seruauntis baren hym deed fro Magedo, and brouyte him in to Jerusalem, and birieden hym in his sepulcre; and the puple of the lond took Joachaz, sone of Josias, and anoyntiden hym, and maden hym kyng for his fadir.
31 Joachaz avait vingt-trois ans quand il monta sur le trône, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Amital, fille de Jérémie de Lebna.
Joachaz was of thre and twenti yeer, whanne he bigan to regne, and he regnede thre monethis in Jerusalem; the name of his modir was Amychal, douyter of Jeremye of Lobna.
32 Et il fit le mal aux yeux du Seigneur, comme l'avaient fait ses pères.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
33 Et le Pharaon Néchao le transporta en Rablaam dans la terre d'Emath, pour qu'il ne régnât point à Jérusalem; puis, il imposa à la terre un tribut de cent talents d'argent et de cent talents d'or.
And Farao Nechao boond hym in Reblatha, which is in the lond of Emath, that he schulde not regne in Jerusalem; and he settide `peyne, ether raunsum, to the lond, in an hundrid talentis of siluer, and in a talent of gold.
34 A sa place, le Pharaon Néchao leur donna pour roi Eliacim, fils de Josias, et il changea son nom, et il l'appela Joacin. Et il emmena Joachaz en Égypte, où il mourut.
And Farao Nechao made kyng Eliachim, sone of Josias, for Josias, his fadir; and he turnede the name of hym Joachym; forsothe Farao took Joachaz, and ledde hym in to Egipt.
35 Joacin donna au Pharaon de l'argent et de l'or, mais il taxa la terre pour payer le tribut au Pharaon; chacun donna de l'argent et de l'or selon sa taxe; tout le peuple donna donc le tribut au Pharaon.
Sotheli Joachym yaf siluer and gold to Farao, whanne he hadde comaundid to the lond bi alle yeeris, that it schulde be brouyt, bi the comaundement of Farao; and he reiside of ech man bi hise myytis bothe siluer and gold, of the puple of the lond, that he schulde yyue to Pharao Nechao.
36 Joacin avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu'il monta sur le trône, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; sa mère se nommait Jeldaph, fille de Phadaël, de Rhuma.

37 Et il fit le mal aux yeux du Seigneur comme avaient fait tous ses aïeux.
And he dide yuel bifor the Lord, bi alle thingis which hise fadris hadden do.
