2 Chroniques 5
1 Enfin, tous les travaux qu'avait commandés Salomon pour le temple du Seigneur, furent achevés. Et Salomon transporta dans le trésor du temple les choses saintes de David son père, et l'argent et l'or, et les vaisseaux.
Then Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had vowed, the silver, and the gold, and all the vessels he put among the treasures of the house of God.
2 Alors, Salomon assembla dans Jérusalem tous les anciens du peuple, tous les princes des tribus, les princes des familles paternelles d'Israël, pour transférer de Sion (la même que la ville de David) l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur.
And after this he gathered together the ancients of Israel, and all the princes of the tribes, and the heads of the families, of the children of Israel to Jerusalem, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord out of the city of David, which is Sion.
3 Et tout Israël fut assemblé devant le roi Salomon, pendant la fête, le septième mois.
And all the men of Israel came to the king in the solemn day of the seventh month.
4 Tous les anciens d'Israël y étaient venus; les lévites prirent l'arche,
And when all the ancients of Israel were come, the Levites took up the ark,
5 Le tabernacle du témoignage, et toutes les choses saintes que contenait le tabernacle; puis, les prêtres et les lévites le transportèrent.
And brought it in, together with all the furniture of the tabernacle. And the priests with the Levites carried the vessels of the sanctuary, which were in the tabernacle.
6 Or, le roi Salomon, toute la synagogue d'Israël, les hommes craignant Dieu, tous ceux d'entre eux qui étaient là rassemblés devant l'arche, sacrifiaient des bœufs et des brebis en quantité innombrable.
And king Solomon and all the assembly of Israel, and all that were gathered together before the ark, sacrificed rams, and oxen without number: so great was the multitude of the victims.
7 Et les prêtres introduisirent l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur au lieu qui lui était destiné dans l'oracle du temple, dans le Saint des saints, sous les ailes des chérubins.
And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord into its place, that is, to the oracle of the temple, into the holy of holies under the wings of the cherubims:
8 Et les chérubins avaient les ailes déployées au-dessus du lieu où on mit l'arche, et les chérubins couvraient l'arche et les leviers.
So that the cherubims spread their wings over the place, in which the ark was set, and covered the ark itself and its staves.
9 Mais les leviers faisaient saillie; et, de l'intérieur du Saint des saints, on en voyait la tête en s'adossant à la façade de l'oracle; du dehors on ne les voyait pas: et ils sont restés là jusqu'à nos jours.
Now the ends of the staves wherewith the ark was carried, because they were some thing longer, were seen before the oracle: but if a man were a little outward, he could not see them. So the ark has been there unto this day.
10 Il n'y avait rien dans l'arche, sinon les deux tables que Moïse y avait déposées en Horeb; témoignage de l'alliance du Seigneur avec les fils d'Israël, quand il les eut fait sortir de l'Égypte.
And there was nothing else in the ark but the two tables which Moses put there at Horeb when the Lord gave the law to the children of Israel, at their coming out of Egypt.
11 Et, au moment où les prêtres sortirent du sanctuaire (car tous avaient été consacrés, et ils n'étaient point divisés encore par ordre journalier de service),
Now when the priests were come out of the sanctuary, (for all the priests that could be found there, mere sanctified: and as yet at that time the courses and orders of the ministries were not divided among them, )
12 Et, avec eux, les lévites, chanteurs de psaumes, tous subordonnés à Asaph, à Hêman, à Idithun, à leurs fils et à leurs frères, revêtus de robes de lin, portant des cymbales, des lyres, des harpes, se tenant en face de l'autel, et, avec eux, cent vingt prêtres sonnant de la trompette,
Both the Levites and the singing men, that is, both they that were under Asaph, and they that were under Heman, and they that were under Idithun, with their sons, and their brethren, clothed with fine linen, sounded with cymbals, and psalteries, and harps, standing on the east side of the altar, and with them a hundred and twenty priests, sounding with trumpets.
13 Les trompettes, les harpes et les chants se réunirent en une seule harmonie pour louer d'une seule voix et célébrer le Seigneur. Et les voix s'élevaient accompagnées des trompettes, des cymbales et des instruments des chanteurs, et elles disaient: Rendez hommage à Dieu, parce qu'il est bon, et que sa miséricorde est éternelle. Alors, le temple fut rempli d'une nuée de gloire du Seigneur.
So when they all sounded together, both with trumpets, and voice, and cymbals, and organs, and with divers kind of musical instruments, and lifted up their voice on high: the sound was heard afar off, so that when they began to praise the Lord, and to say: Give glory to the Lord for he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever: the house of God was filled with a cloud.
14 Et les prêtres ne purent y demeurer ni faire le service divin, à cause de la nuée; car la gloire du Seigneur avait rempli le temple de Dieu.
Nor could the priests stand and minister by reason of the cloud. For the glory of the Lord had filled the house of God.
