2 Chroniques 34
1 Josias avait huit ans quand il monta sur le trône, et il régna trente et un ans à Jérusalem.

2 Il fit ce que est droit devant le Seigneur, et il marcha dans les voies de David, son aïeul; il ne s'en écarta ni à droite ni à gauche.
And he dide that, that was riytful in the siyt of the Lord; and yede in the waies of Dauid, his fadir, and bowide not to the riyt side nether to the left side.
3 Et, dans la huitième année de son règne, il était encore un adolescent quand il commença à chercher le Seigneur Dieu de David; et, dans la douzième année, il se mit à purifier Juda et Jérusalem des hauts lieux, des bois sacrés, des ornements des autels et des idoles jetées en fonte.
Forsothe in the eiytethe yeer of the rewme of his empire, whanne he was yit a child, he bigan to seke God of his fadir Dauid; and in the tweluethe yeer after that he bigan, he clenside Juda and Jerusalem fro hiy places, and wodis, and similacris, and grauun ymagis.
4 Et il renversa, de devant sa face, les autels de Baal et, au-dessus d'eux, les hauts lieux; il abattit les bois sacrés et les statues; il brisa les idoles jetées en fonte, il les réduisit en poudre, et les jeta sur la surface des tombeaux de ceux qui leur avaient sacrifié.
And thei destrieden bifor hym the auteris of Baalym, and thei destrieden the symylacris, that weren put aboue. Also he hewide doun the wodis, and grauun ymagis, and brak to smale gobetis; and scateride abrood `the smale gobetis on the birielis of hem, that weren wont to offre `to tho.
5 Et il brûla les ossements de leurs prêtres sur les autels; et il purifia Jérusalem et Juda,
Ferthermore he brente the boonys of preestis in the auteris of idols, and he clenside Juda and Jerusalem.
6 Puis, les villes de Manassé, d'Ephraïm, de Siméon et de Nephthali, et les bourgs qui les environnaient.
But also he destriede alle idols in the citees of Manasses, and of Effraym, and of Symeon, `til to Neptalym.
7 Et il détruisit les autels et les bois sacrés, et il réduisit en poudre les idoles, et il renversa tous les hauts lieux d'Israël, et il revint à Jérusalem.
And whanne he hadde scateride the auteris, and hadde al to-broke in to gobetis the wodis, and grauun ymagis, and hadde destried alle templis of ydols fro al the lond of Israel, he turnede ayen in to Jerusalem.
8 Dans la dix-huitième année de son règne, après avoir purifié la terre et son palais, il envoya Saphan, fils d'Ezélias, Maasa, chef de la ville, et Juach, fils de Joachaz, son secrétaire-archiviste, pour réparer le temple du Seigneur son Dieu.
Therfor in the eiytenthe yeer of his rewme, whanne the lond and temple `of the Lord was clensid nowe, he sente Saphan, the sone of Helchie, and Masie, the prince of the citee, and Joa, the sone of Joachaz, chaunceler, that thei schulden reparele the hous `of his Lord God.
9 Il se rendirent auprès d'Helcias, le grand prêtre, et ils lui donnèrent l'argent offert au temple de Dieu, recueilli, par les lévites gardiens de la porte, des mains de Manassé, d'Ephraïm, des princes, de tout le reste d'Israël, des fils de Juda et de Benjamin, et des habitants de Jérusalem.
Whiche camen to Helchie, the grete preest; and whanne thei hadden take of hym the money, which was brouyt in to the hows of the Lord; and which monei the dekenes and porteris hadden gaderid of Manasses, and of Effraym, and of alle the residue men of Israel, and of al Juda and Beniamyn, and of the dwelleris of Jerusalem,
10 Et ils donnèrent cet argent à ceux qui faisaient les travaux, qu'on avait établis dans le temple du Seigneur; ils le donnèrent à ceux qui faisaient ce qu'il y avait à faire pour restaurer et raffermir le temple.
thei yauen it in the hondis of hem that weren souereyns of the werk men in the hows of the Lord, that thei schulden restore the temple, and reparele alle feble thingis.
11 Ils ordonnèrent aussi aux charpentiers et aux maçons d'acheter des pierres de taille et des solives pour recouvrir les logements que les rois de Juda avaient abattus.
And thei yauen that monei to the crafti men and masouns, for to bie stoonys hewid out of the `delues, ether quarreris, and trees to the ioynyngis of the bildyng, and to the coupling of housis, whiche the kingis of Juda hadden destried.
12 Et ces hommes se mirent fidèlement à l'œuvre, et ils furent surveillés par Jeth et Abdias, lévites de la maison de Mérari, par Zacharie et Mosollam, des fils de Caath, et par tous les lévites qui savaient chanter et jouer des instruments,
Whiche men diden feithfuli alle thingis. Sotheli the souereyns of worcheris weren Jabath, and Abdie, of the sones of Merari; Zacarie, and Mosallam, of the sones of Caath; whiche hastiden the werk; alle weren dekenes, kunnynge to synge with orguns.
13 Et les manœuvres et les ouvriers, chacun en son travail, étaient encore surveillés par les lévites scribes, juges et portiers.
Sotheli ouer them that baren birthuns to dyuerse vsis weren the scribis, and maistris of the dekenes, and porteris.
14 Or, tandis que l'on transportait l'argent donné pour le temple du Seigneur, Helcias, le prêtre, trouva un livre de la loi du Seigneur donnée par Moïse.
And whanne thei baren out the monei, that was borun in to the temple of the Lord, Helchie, `the preest, foond the book of the lawe of the Lord bi the hond of Moises.
15 Et Helcias prit la parole, et il dit à Saphan, le scribe: J'ai trouvé dans le temple du Seigneur un livre de la loi. Et Helcias donna le livre à Saphan.
And he seide to Saphan, the writere, Y haue founde the book of the lawe in the hows of the Lord.
16 Et Saphan porta le livre au roi, et il lui rendit compte, disant: Voici le compte de tout l'argent qui a été remis à tes serviteurs chargés des travaux.
And Helchie took to Saphan, and he bar in the book to the king; and telde to hym, and seide, Lo! alle thingis ben fillid, whiche thou hast youe in to the hondis of thi seruauntis.
17 Or, cet argent, trouvé dans le temple du Seigneur, avait été monnayé et distribué aux surveillants, puis aux ouvriers.
Thei han wellyd togidere the siluere, which is foundun in the hous of the Lord; and it is youun to the souereyns of the crafti men, and makynge dyuerse werkis;
18 Et Saphan en rendit compte au roi, et il ajouta: Helcias m'a donné un livre. Et Saphan le lut devant le roi.
ferthermore Helchie, the preest, took to me this book. And whanne he hadde rehersid this book in the presence of the kyng,
19 Et quand Josias ouït les paroles du livre de la loi, il déchira ses vêtements.
and he hadde herd the wordis of the lawe, he to-rente hise clothis; and he comaundide to Helchie,
20 Et il donna ses ordres à Helcias, à Achicam, fils de Saphan, à Abdom, fils de Michée, à Saphan, le scribe, à Asaïe, serviteur du roi, et il leur dit:
and to Aichan, the sone of Saphan, and to Abdon, the sone of Mycha, and to Saphan, the scryuen, and to Asaie, the seruaunt of the kyng,
21 Allez et interrogez le Seigneur, pour moi et pour tout ce qui reste de Juda et d'Israël, au sujet des paroles du livre qui a été trouvé; car la colère du Seigneur s'est enflammée contre nous, parce que nos pères n'ont point obéi aux commandements du Seigneur, et n'ont point fait ce qui est écrit en ce livre.
and seide, Go ye, and preie the Lord for me, and for the resydue men of Israel and of Juda, on alle the wordis of this book, which is foundun. For greet veniaunce of the Lord hath droppid on vs, for oure fadris kepten not the wordis of the Lord, to do alle thingis that ben writun in this book.
22 Or, Helcias et ceux à qui avait parlé le roi, allèrent trouver Olda, la prophétesse, femme de Sellem, file de Thécoé, fils d'Aras; elle observait les commandements, et demeurait à Jérusalem dans le second quartier, et ils lui parlèrent relativement à ces choses.
Therfor Helchie yede, and thei that weren sent togidere of the king, to Olda, the prophetesse, the wijf of Sellum, sone of Thecuath, sone of Asra, kepere of clothis, which Olda dwellide in Jerusalem in the secounde warde; and thei spaken to hir the wordis, whiche we telden bifore.
23 Et elle leur répondit: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël; dites à l'homme qui vous a envoyés chez moi:
And sche answeride to hem, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, Seie ye to the man, that sente you to me,
24 Voici ce que dit le Seigneur: Voilà que j'amène le mal sur ce lieu,' selon les paroles du livre qui a été lu devant le roi de Juda,
The Lord seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal brynge ynne yuels on this place, and on the dwelleris therof, and alle the cursyngis that ben writun in this book, which thei redden bifor the kyng of Juda.
25 En punition de ce qu'ils m'ont abandonné, de ce qu'ils ont brûlé de l'encens pour d'autres dieux, afin de m'irriter, par toutes les œuvres de leurs mains; car ma colère s'est enflammée contre ce lieu, et elle ne s'éteindra pas.
For thei han forsake me, and han sacrified to alien goddis, for to terre me to wrathfulnesse in alle the werkis of her hondis; therfor my strong veniaunce schal droppe on this place, and it schal not be quenchid.
26 Quant au roi de Juda qui vous a envoyés chez moi, pour interroger le Seigneur, dites-lui: Voici ce que dit le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël: Aux paroles que tu as entendues,
But speke ye thus to the kyng of Juda, that sente you to preye the Lord, The Lord God of Israel seith these thingis, For thou herdist the wordis of the book,
27 Ton cœur a été rempli de crainte; tu t'es humilié devant moi, lorsque tu as ouï mes menaces contre ce lieu et contre ceux qui l'habitent; tu t'es humilié devant moi; tu as déchiré tes vêtements; tu as pleuré devant moi, et moi aussi j'ai entendu, dit le Seigneur.
and thin herte is maad neisch, and thou art mekid in the siyt of the Lord of these thingis that ben seide ayens this place and the dwelleris of Jerusalem, and thou hast reuerensid my face, and hast to-rente thi clothis, and hast wepte bifor me; also Y haue herd thee, seith the Lord.
28 Voilà que je te réunis à tes pères; tu seras déposé en paix dans ton sépulcre, et tes yeux ne verront aucun des maux que j'amène sur ce lieu et sur ceux qui l'habitent. Et ils rapportèrent au roi ces paroles.
For now Y schal gadere thee to thi fadris, and thou schalt be borun in to thi sepulcre in pees; and thin iyen schulen not se al yuel, which Y schal brynge yn on this place, and on the dwelleris therof. Therfor thei telden to the king alle thingis, whiche Olda hadde seid.
29 Et le roi envoya des messagers, et il rassembla les anciens de Juda et de Jérusalem.
And aftir that he hadde clepid togidere alle the eldere men of Juda and of Jerusalem,
30 Et le roi monta au temple du Seigneur, avec tout Juda, tous les habitants de Jérusalem, les prêtres, les lévites et le peuple entier, depuis le petit jusqu'au grand, et il lut à leurs oreilles toutes les paroles du livre de l'alliance, trouvé dans le temple du Seigneur.
he stiede in to the hows of the Lord, and togidere alle the men of Juda, `and the dwelleris of Jerusalem, preestis, and dekenes, and al the puple, fro the leeste `til to the moste; to whiche herynge in the hows of the Lord, the kyng redde alle the wordis of the book.
31 Et le roi se tint debout sur le piédestal, et il fit une alliance devant le Seigneur, pour marcher devant le Seigneur, garder ses commandements, ses témoignages et ses ordonnances, de tout son cœur et de toute son âme, afin de se conformer à toutes les paroles de l'alliance écrites en ce livre.
And he stood in his trone, and smoot a boond of pees bifor the Lord, for to `go aftir hym, and to kepe the comaundementis, and witnessyngis, and iustifiyngis of hym, in al his herte and in al his soule; and to do tho thingis that weren writun in that book, which he hadde red.
32 Et il fit lever tous ceux qui se trouvaient en Jérusalem; et Benjamin, et les habitants de Jérusalem firent une alliance dans le temple du Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères.
And he chargide greetli on this thing alle men, that weren foundun in Jerusalem and Beniamyn; and the dwellers of Jerusalem diden aftir the couenaunt of the Lord God of her fadris.
33 Et Josias expulsa toutes les abominations de toute la terre des fils d'Israël, et il obligea tous ceux qui se trouvaient dans la ville et en Israël à servir, tous les jours de sa vie, le Seigneur leur Dieu; et il ne se détourna point du Seigneur Dieu de ses pères.
Therfor Josie dide awei alle abhomynaciouns fro alle the cuntreis of the sones of Israel; and he made alle men, that weren residue in Israel, to serue her Lord God; in alle the daies of his lijf thei yeden not awei fro the Lord God of her fadris.
