2 Chroniques 19

1 Et Josaphat, roi de Juda, revint en son palais à Jérusalem.

Forsothe Josaphat, kyng of Juda, turnede ayen pesibli in to his hows in to Jerusalem.

2 Et le prophète Jéhu, fils d'Anani, sortit à sa rencontre, et il lui dit Roi Josaphat, n'as-tu pas porté secours à un impie, et donné ton amitié à un ennemi du Seigneur? A cause de cela, la colère du Seigneur a été excitée contre toi.

Whom the profete Hieu, the sone of Ananye, mette, and seide to hym, Thou yyuest help to a wickid man, and thou art ioyned bi frendschip to hem that haten the Lord; and therfor sotheli thou deseruedist the wraththe of the Lord;

3 Cependant, il s'est trouvé du bon en toi; car tu as détruit les bois sacrés en la terre de Juda, et, d'un cœur droit, tu as cherché Dieu.

but good werkis ben foundyn in thee, for thou didist awey wodis fro the lond of Juda, and thou hast maad redi thin herte, for to seke the Lord God of thi fadris.

4 Et Josaphat résida en Jérusalem; il en sortit encore une fois pour visiter le peuple depuis Bersabée jusqu'aux montagnes d'Ephraïm, et il les ramena au Seigneur Dieu de leurs pères.

Therfor Josaphat dwellide in Jerusalem; and eft he yede out to the puple fro Bersabee til to the hil of Effraym, and he clepide hem ayen to the Lord God of her fadris.

5 Et il institua des juges dans toutes les places fortes de Juda: un par ville.

And he ordeynede iugis of the lond in alle the strengthid citees of Juda, bi ech place.

6 Et il dit aux juges: Soyez attentifs à ce que vous faites; car vous ne jugez pas pour l'homme, mais pour le Seigneur, et les paroles du jugement sont avec vous.

And he comaundide to the iugis, and seide, Se ye, what ye doen; for ye vsen not the doom of man, but of the Lord; and what euere thing ye demen, schal turne `in to you;

7 Que la crainte du Seigneur soit donc en vous; veillez et agissez; car, avec le Seigneur notre Dieu, il n'est point d'iniquité; il n'y a point à considérer la personne, ni à recevoir des présents.

the drede of the Lord be with you, and do ye alle thingis with diligence; for anentis `youre Lord God is no wickidnesse, nether takynge of persoones, nether coueitise of yiftis.

8 Et Josaphat institua en Jérusalem des prêtres, des lévites et des chefs de familles d'Israël, pour juger les choses du Seigneur et les habitants de la ville.

Also in Jerusalem Josaphat ordeynede dekenes, and preestis, and the princes of meynees of Israel, that thei schulden deme the doom and cause of the Lord to the dwellers of it.

9 Et il leur donna ses ordres, disant: Vous ferez votre devoir avec la crainte de Dieu, en la plénitude et en la sincérité de votre cœur.

And he comaundide to hem, and seide, Thus ye schulen do in the drede of the Lord, feithfuli and in perfite herte.

10 Quels que soient ceux de vos frères qui, de leurs villes, viendront à vous en justice, soit pour une décision entre le sang et le sang, soit pour une application des commandements et des préceptes, déterminez bien pour eux le droit et la sentence; et ils ne pècheront pas envers le Seigneur, et il n'y aura point de colère, ni contre vos frères, ni contre vous. Faites ainsi, et vous ne pècherez pas.

Ech cause that cometh to you of youre britheren, that dwellen in her citees, bitwixe kynrede and kynrede, where euere is questioun of the lawe, of `the comaundement, of cerymonyes, `ether sacrifices, of iustifyingis, schewe ye to hem, that thei do not synne ayens the Lord, and that wraththe com not on you and on youre britheren. Therfor ye doynge thus schulen not do synne.

11 Et Ananias le prêtre sera votre chef en ce qui concernera le Seigneur; Zabdias, fils d'Ismaël, prince de la maison de Juda, sera votre chef en ce qui concernera le roi, et vous aurez avec vous des scribes et des lévites; fortifiez-vous, et faites, et le Seigneur sera avec les bons.

Forsothe Amarie, youre preest and bischop, schal be souereyn in these thingis, that perteynen to God. Sotheli Zabadie, the sone of Ismael, which is duyk in the hows of Juda, schal be on tho werkis that perteynen to the office of the kyng, and ye han maistris dekenes bifor you; be ye coumfortid, and do ye diligentli, and the Lord schal be with you in goodis.
