1 Samuel 26

1 Après cela, des Ziphéens vinrent de la terre aride chez Saül à Gabaa, disant: Voilà que David est caché parmi nous sur la colline d'Echéla, en face de Jessème.

Againe the Ziphims came vnto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doeth not Dauid hide him selfe in the hill of Hachilah before Ieshimon?

2 Alors, Saül partit et descendit an désert de Ziph pour chercher David, avec trois mille hommes choisis en tout Israël.

Then Saul arose, and went downe to the wildernes of Ziph, hauing three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, for to seeke Dauid in the wildernesse of Ziph.

3 Il campa sur la route en la colline d'Echéla, vis-à-vis Jessème, tandis que David demeurait dans le désert. Et David vit que Saül était venu pour le poursuivre dans le désert.

And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Ieshimon by the way side. Now Dauid abode in the wildernesse, and he sawe that Saul came after him into the wildernesse.

4 Et David envoya des éclaireurs, et il sut que Saül était arrivé en forces de Ceïla.

(For Dauid had sent out spies, and vnderstood, that Saul was come in very deede)

5 Et David se leva sans bruit, et il se rendit au lieu où dormait Saül; il y avait là son général Abner, fils de Ner; Saül dormait sur un chariot couvert, ayant toute sa troupe campée autour de lui.

Then Dauid arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched, and when Dauid beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the sonne of Ner which was his chiefe captaine, (for Saul lay in the fort, and the people pitched round about him)

6 David s'adressant à Abimélech le Hettéen, et à Abessa, fils de Sarvia, frère de Joab, leur dit: Qui viendra avec moi dans le camp jusqu'à Saül? Et Abessa répondit: Moi, je t'accompagnerai.

Then spake Dauid, and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the sonne of Zeruiah, brother to Ioab, saying, Who will go downe with me to Saul to the hoste? Then Abishai said, I will goe downe with thee.

7 Et David avec Abessa se glissa parmi la troupe pendant la nuit. Saül dormait d'un profond sommeil sur un chariot couvert, sa javeline plantée en terre près de sa tête; Abner et ses gens dormaient autour de lui.

So Dauid and Abishai came downe to the people by night: and beholde, Saul lay sleeping within the fort, and his speare did sticke in the ground at his head: and Abner and the people lay round about him.

8 Abessa dit à David: Le Seigneur aujourd'hui enferme ton ennemi dans tes mains; je vais à l'instant, d'un seul coup de javeline, le faire rouler à terre; je n'aurai pas besoin de le frapper deux fois.

Then saide Abishai to Dauid, God hath closed thine enemie into thine hande this day: now therefore, I pray thee, let me smite him once with a speare to the earth, and I will not smite him againe.

9 Mais David dit à Abessa: Garde-toi de l'outrager; car qui peut sans crime porter la main sur l'oint du Seigneur?

And Dauid sayde to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can lay his hand on the Lordes anoynted, and be giltlesse?

10 Et David ajouta: Vive le Seigneur! il ne mourra que quand le Seigneur le frappera, soit que son jour vienne et qu'il expire, soit qu'il succombe en combattant et aille rejoindre ses pères.

Moreouer Dauid said, As the Lord liueth, eyther the Lord shall smite him, or his day shall come to dye, or he shall descend into battel, and perish.

11 Que le Seigneur me préserve de porter la main sur l'oint du Seigneur; maintenant, prends à son chevet sa javeline et la fiole d'eau, puis allons- nous-en.

The Lord keepe mee from laying mine hand vpon the Lordes anointed: but, I pray thee, take now the speare that is at his head, and the pot of water, and let vs goe hence.

12 Ainsi, David prit auprès du chevet la javeline et la fiole d'eau, et ils s'en allèrent. Nul ne les vit, nul ne sut qu'ils étaient là, nul ne s'éveilla; tous dormaient, car le Seigneur avait fait tomber sur eux une profonde torpeur.

So Dauid tooke the speare and the pot of water from Sauls head, and they gate them away, and no man saw it, nor marked it, neither did any awake, but they were all asleepe: for the Lord had sent a dead sleepe vpon them.

13 David traversa le camp, et il s'arrêta au loin, du côté opposé, sur la cime de la montagne; il y avait entre eux et lui un grand espace.

Then Dauid went vnto the other side, and stoode on the toppe of an hill a farre off, a great space being betweene them.

14 De là, David appela la troupe, et s'adressant à Abner, il dit: Ne répondras-tu point, Abner. Et Abner répondit, et il dit: Qui es-tu, toi qui appelles?

And Dauid cryed to the people, and to Abner the sonne of Ner, saying, Hearest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered, and said, Who art thou that cryest to the King?

15 Et David dit à Abner: N'es-tu pas un homme? Qui donc te vaut en Israël? Pourquoi ne gardes-tu pas le roi ton maître? Car quelqu'un du peuple est entré dans le camp pour le tuer.

And Dauid said to Abner, Art not thou a man? and who is like thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lorde the King? for there came one of the folke in to destroy the King thy lord.

16 Ce n'est pas une bonne action que tu as faite là. Vive le Seigneur! vous êtes tous fils du meurtre, vous qui êtes commis à la garde du roi votre maître, l'oint du Seigneur. Maintenant, je te prie, la javeline du roi et la fiole d'eau qui étaient aussi auprès de son chevet, où sont-elles?

This is not well done of thee: as the Lord liueth, ye are worthy to dye, because ye haue not kept your master the Lordes Anointed: and now see where the Kings speare is, and the pot of water that was at his head.

17 Cependant, Saül reconnut la voix de David, et il dit: Est-ce ta voix, mon fils David? Et David répondit: C'est ton serviteur, Seigneur roi.

And Saul knewe Dauids voyce, and sayde, Is this thy voyce, my sonne Dauid? And Dauid sayde, It is my voyce, my lorde O King.

18 Puis, il ajouta: Pourquoi le maître poursuit-il ainsi son serviteur? En quoi ai-je péché? Quelle iniquité a-t-on trouvée en moi?

And he sayde, Wherefore doeth my lorde thus persecute his seruant? for what haue I done? or what euill is in mine hand?

19 Maintenant donc que le roi mon maître écoute la parole de son serviteur. Si c'est Dieu qui t'excite contre moi, que ton sacrifice soit d'agréable odeur. Mais si ce sont des fils des hommes, maudits soient-ils devant le Seigneur, parce qu'ils m'ont chassé, de peur que je ne m'affermisse en l'héritage du Seigneur; et ils m'ont dit: Va-t'en, et sers d'autres dieux.

Now therefore, I beseech thee, let my lord the King heare the wordes of his seruant. If the Lord haue stirred thee vp against me, let him smell the sauour of a sacrifice: but if the children of men haue done it, cursed be they before the Lord: for they haue cast me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Goe, serue other gods.

20 Que mon sang ne soit point répandu sur la terre à la face du Seigneur, parce que le roi d'Israël est venu chercher ma vie, comme l'oiseau de nuit, quand il chasse dans les montagnes.

Nowe therefore let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord: for the King of Israel is come out to seeke a flea, as one would hunt a partridge in the mountaines.

21 Et Saül dit: J'ai péché, reviens, mon fils David, je ne te ferai point de mal, en récompense de ce qu'à tes yeux ma vie est précieuse. J'ai agi aujourd'hui comme un insensé, et j'ai ignoré beaucoup de choses.

Then sayde Saul, I haue sinned: come againe, my sonne Dauid: for I will doe thee no more harme, because my soule was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I haue done foolishly, and haue erred exceedingly.

22 Et David reprit la parole; et il dit: Voilà la javeline du roi; que l'un des serviteurs approche, et qu'il la prenne.

Then Dauid answered, and saide, Beholde the Kings speare, let one of the yong men come ouer and set it.

23 Et le Seigneur accordera à chacun, selon sa foi et son équité. Cette nuit, quand le Seigneur t'a livré à mes mains, je n'ai pas voulu porter la main sur l'oint du Seigneur;

And let the Lord rewarde euery man according to his righteousnesse and faithfulnesse: for the Lord had deliuered thee into mine handes this day, but I woulde not lay mine hand vpon the Lords anointed.

24 Et de même que ta vie a été précieuse à mes yeux, ma vie sera précieuse devant le Seigneur, et il m'abritera et il me délivrera de toutes mes afflictions.

And beholde, like as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes: so let my life be set by in the eyes of the Lord, that he may deliuer me out of all tribulation.

25 Et Saül dit à David: Béni sois-tu, mon fils, tu prospèreras, et tu seras très puissant. Alors, David s'en alla à sa demeure, et Saül retourna à la ville où il résidait.

Then Saul said to Dauid, Blessed art thou, my sonne Dauid: for thou shalt doe great things, and also preuaile. So Dauid went his way, and Saul returned to his place.
