1 Samuel 19
1 Et Saül parla à Jonathan son fils, ainsi qu'à tous ses serviteurs, pour qu'ils tuassent David. Or, Jonathan, fils de Saül, aimait beaucoup David,
And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that he would kill David. But Jonathan the son of Saul delighted greatly in David.
2 Et Jonathan avertit David, disant: Saül cherche à te tuer; prends donc garde à toi; dès demain à l'aurore, cache-toi et demeure caché.
And Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to kill thee; now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself in the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
3 Quant à moi, je sortirai et je m'arrêterai avec mon père dans le champ où tu seras; je lui parlerai de toi; je verrai ce qu'il en est, et je te le ferai savoir.
And I will go out and stand by the side of my father in the field where thou art, and I myself will speak of thee to my father; and I will see what it is, and I will tell thee.
4 Et Jonathan parla favorablement de David à son père, et il lui dit: Que le roi ne se rende pas coupable envers David, son serviteur, car il n'est point coupable envers toi, et toutes ses actions sont bonnes.
And Jonathan spoke favorably of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; since he hath not sinned against thee, and because his deeds are very good for thee;
5 Il a placé sa vie dans sa main, il a tué l'étranger, et le Seigneur nous a sauvés d'une manière éclatante; tout Israël l'a vu et s'en est réjoui: pourquoi donc pècherais-tu contre le sang innocent, en tuant sans sujet David?
And he did put his life in his hand, and he slew the Philistine, and the Lord wrought a great salvation for all Israel; thou sawest it, and wast rejoiced: wherefore then wilt thou commit sin on innocent blood, by slaying David without a cause?
6 Saül se rendit aux paroles de Jonathan; Saül prêta serment, et il dit: Vive le Seigneur, David ne mourra point.
And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, As the Lord liveth, he shall not be put to death.
7 Et Jonathan appela David; il lui répéta tout cet entretien, et il l'amena auprès de Saül, qui fut pour lui ce qu'il était précédemment.
And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan told him all these words. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as in times past.
8 Or, Saül eut une nouvelle guerre; et David remporta la victoire; il combattit les Philistins; et il les frappa d'une très grande plaie, et ils s'enfuirent devant lui.
And the war occurred again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and smote them with a great defeat, and they fled from before him.
9 Alors, un mauvais esprit de Dieu saisit Saül; celui-ci dormait dans sa maison la javeline à la main, et David touchait de la harpe.
And the evil spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, and he was sitting in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.
10 Et Saül, s'éveillant, chercha à tuer David d'un coup de javeline, mais David s'esquiva, la javeline frappa le mur; David s'enfuit et fut sauvé.
And Saul sought to strike David through with the spear even to the wall; but he slipped away from before Saul, who struck the spear into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11 Cette nuit-là, Saül envoya des messagers à la maison de David pour l'épier et le tuer dès le matin; mais Michol, femme de David, l'avertit, disant: Si cette nuit même tu ne sauves pas ta vie, demain tu seras mis à mort.
But Saul sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning; and Michal his wife told it to David, saying, If thou save not thy life this night, tomorrow thou wilt be put to death.
12 Et Michol fit sortir David par la fenêtre; il partit, s'enfuit et fut sauvé.
And Michal let David down through the window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13 Et Michol prit une image qu'elle posa sur le lit; à la tète elle mit du poil de chèvre, et elle couvrit le corps d'un manteau.
And Michal took an image, and put it in the bed, and a pillow of goats' hair she put for its head to rest on, and covered it with a cloth.
14 Or, Saül avait envoyé des messagers pour prendre David, et ils vinrent lui dire qu'il était malade.
And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15 Il les renvoya chez David, disant: Amenez-le-moi et qu'il meure.
And Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may put him to death.
16 Les messagers retournèrent chez David et ils virent l'image sur le lit, et à la tète le poil de chèvre.
And when the messengers were come in, behold, there was an image in the bed, with a pillow of goats' hair for its head to rest on.
17 Et Saül dit à Michol: Pourquoi m'avoir ainsi trompé en faisant échapper mon ennemi? Le voilà sauvé. Et Michol dit à Saül: Il m'a dit: Laisse-moi fuir; sinon je te tuerai.
And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou thus deceived me, and sent away my enemy, that he is escaped? And Michal said to Saul, He said unto me, Let me go away: why should I kill thee?
18 Or, David s'était enfui, et il était sauvé; il se rendit chez Samuel en Armathaïm, et il lui raconta tout ce que lui avait fait Saül. Aussitôt, Samuel partit avec David, et ils séjournèrent à Navath en Rhama.
So David fled, and escaped, and came unto Samuel to Ramah, and he told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and remained in Nayoth.
19 Et des gens le rapportèrent à Saül, disant: Voilà que David est à Navath en Rhama.
And it was told unto Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Nayoth near Ramah.
20 Et Saül envoya des messagers pour prendre David; or, ils virent l'assemblée des prophètes, Samuel à leur tète, et l'Esprit de Dieu vint sur les messagers de Saül, et ils prophétisèrent.
And Saul sent messengers to take David; and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as superintendent over them: then came upon the messengers of Saul the spirit of God, and they also prophesied.
21 Des gens l'allèrent dire à Saül, et il envoya d'autres messagers; et ceux-ci pareillement se mirent à prophétiser; Saül en envoya d'autres qui prophétisèrent encore.
And when it was told to Saul, he sent other messengers, and these prophesied likewise. And Saul sent again messengers the third time, and these also prophesied.
22 Enfin, Saül s'enflamma de colère; il partit lui-même pour Armathaïm, et alla jusqu'au puits de l'aire qui est à Séphi; il s'informa et il dit: Où sont Samuel et David? On lui répondit: Ils sont à Navath en Rhama.
Then went he himself also to Ramah, and came as far as the great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And some one said, Behold, they are at Nayoth near Ramah.
23 Saül partit donc pour Navath en Rhama, et l'Esprit de Dieu vint aussi sur lui, et il alla prophétisant, jusqu'à l'entrée de Navath en Rhama.
And he went thither to Nayoth near Ramah: and there came upon him also the Spirit of God, and he went on, and prophesied as he went, until he came to Nayoth near Ramah.
24 Là, il se dépouilla de ses vêtements; il prophétisa devant l'assemblée, et il resta nu, tout ce jour-là et toute la nuit, se tenant prosterné; à cause de cela on dit: Saül aussi est-il au nombre des prophètes?
And he also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied himself before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore people are in the habit of saying, Is Saul too among the prophets?
