1 Samuel 14

1 Or, un jour vint où Jonathan, fils de Saül, dit au serviteur qui portait ses armes: Viens, allons à la station des Philistins du côté opposé au lieu où nous sommes; et il n'en dit rien à son père.

And it was the day and he said Jonathan [the] son of Saul to the young man [the] bearer of armor his come! so let us pass over to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines which [is] from [the] other side of this and to father his not he told.

2 Saül était campé au sommet de la colline, sous le grenadier qui est en Magdon, ayant avec lui environ six cents hommes.

And Saul [was] remaining at [the] edge of Gibeah under pomegranate tree which [is] in Migron and the people which [was] with him [was] about six hundred man.

3 Et Achias, fils d'Achitob, frère de Jochabed, fils de Phinéès, fils d'Héli, était prêtre à Silo portant l'éphod. Et le peuple ne savait pas que Jonathan était parti.

And Ahijah [the] son of Ahitub [the] brother of Ichabod - [the] son of Phinehas [the] son of Eli [the] priest of - Yahweh in Shiloh [was] bearing an ephod and the people not it knew that he had gone Jonathan.

4 Au milieu du passage par où Jonathan voulait pénétrer parmi les Philistins, il y a un chemin bordé à droite et à gauche de rochers, qu'on appelle l'un Basès, l'autre Senna.

And [were] between the passes which he sought Jonathan to pass over to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines [the] tooth of the rock from the other side from this and [the] tooth of the rock from the other side from this and [the] name of the one [was] Bozez and [the] name of the one [was] Seneh.

5 Ce chemin était, d'une part, au nord de celui qui venait de Machmas; d'autre part, au midi de celui qui venait de Gabaa.

6 Et Jonathan dit au serviteur qui portait ses armes: Viens, marchons à la station de ces incirconcis; voyons si le Seigneur fera quelque chose pour nous, car le Seigneur n'est pas astreint à sauver avec beaucoup d'hommes plutôt qu'avec un petit nombre.

And he said Jonathan to the young man - [the] bearer of armor his come! so let us pass over to [the] garrison of the uncircumcised [men] these perhaps he will act Yahweh for us for not [belongs] to Yahweh a limitation to save by many or by few.

7 Le serviteur qui portait ses armes répondit: Fais selon le mouvement de ton cœur, je suis avec toi; mon cœur est comme ton cœur.

And he said to him [the] bearer of armor his do all that [is] in heart your turn aside for yourself here I [am] with you according to heart your.

8 Et Jonathan lui dit: Voici que nous allons monter au-dessus de ces hommes; puis nous roulerons en bas sur eux.

And he said Jonathan here! we [are] about to pass over to the men and we will reveal ourselves to them.

9 S'ils nous disent: Halte-là; attendez que nous vous ayons parlé, nous nous arrêterons, et nous ne monterons pas pour les attaquer.

If thus they will say to us be still until reach we you and we will remain in place our and not we will go up to them.

10 Mais, s'ils nous disent: Montez vers nous, nous monterons, car le Seigneur nous les a livrés, ce sera là notre signe.

And if thus they will say come up to us and we will go up for he has given them Yahweh in hand our and this for us [will be] the sign.

11 Et tous les deux parvinrent à la station des Philistins, qui se dirent: Voici des Hébreux; ils sortent des cavernes où ils étaient cachés.

And they revealed themselves [the] two of them to [the] garrison of [the] Philistines and they said [the] Philistines here! Hebrews [are] coming out from the holes where they have hidden themselves there.

12 Aussitôt, les hommes de la station s'adressèrent à Jonathan et à celui qui portait ses armes, disant: Montez vers nous, et nous vous ferons connaître quelque chose. A ces mots, Jonathan dit à celui qui portait ses armes: Suis- moi, le Seigneur nous les a livrés.

And they answered [the] men of the garrison Jonathan - and [the] bearer of armor his and they said come up to us so let us make known to you something. And he said Jonathan to [the] bearer of armor his come up after me for he has given them Yahweh in [the] hand of Israel.

13 Jonathas monta donc en s'aidant des mains comme des pieds, et celui qui portait ses armes le suivit; les Philistins se trouvèrent face à face avec Jonathas quand celui-ci se mit à les frapper; son serviteur alors arrivait derrière lui.

And he went up Jonathan on hands his and on feet his and [the] bearer of armor his [was] behind him and they fell before Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his [was] killing behind him.

14 Or, ce fut le premier fait d'armes de Jonathan et de son serviteur; ils leur tuèrent une vingtaine d'hommes, avec des dards, des frondes et des cailloux.

And it was the slaughter first which he struck down Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his about twenty man about in half of a furrow an acre of a field.

15 Et l'effroi se répandit dans le camp et la plaine; toutes les troupes de la station et les pillards au dehors, saisis de stupeur, furent incapables d'agir; la contrée trembla, et le Seigneur répandit partout l'épouvante.

And it was trembling in the camp in the field and among all the people the garrison and the destroyer they trembled also they and it quaked the earth and it became a trembling of God.

16 Cependant, les éclaireurs de Saül virent de Gabaa le trouble du camp et les hommes qui fuyaient çà et là.

And they saw the watchmen of Saul at Gibeah of Benjamin and there! the multitude it melted away and it went and here.

17 Et Saül dit aux siens: Examinez bien, et voyez qui des nôtres est parti; ils cherchèrent, et l'on ne trouva ni Jonathan ni celui qui portait ses armes.

And he said Saul to the people which [was] with him muster please and see who? has he gone from with us and they mustered and there! there not [were] Jonathan and [the] bearer of armor his.

18 Et Saül dit à Achias: Présente l'éphod; car, en ce jour-là, Achias portait l'éphod devant Israël.

And he said Saul to Ahijah bring near! [the] ark of God for it was [the] ark of God on the day that and [the] people of Israel.

19 Pendant que Saül parlait au prêtre, la rumeur du camp des Philistins, toujours croissante, se répandit et se répandit. Et Saül dit au prêtre: Joins les mains.

And it was until he spoke Saul to the priest and the tumult which [was] in [the] camp of [the] Philistines and it went continuously and great. And he said Saul to the priest withdraw hand your.

20 Saül aussitôt, avec toute sa troupe, se porta au combat; il vit les ennemis tournant les uns contre les autres leurs épées; c'était une confusion vraiment très grande.

And he was called together Saul and all the people which [was] with him and they went to the battle and there! it was [the] sword of each man in neighbor his panic [was] great very.

21 Les Hébreux, devenus depuis peu esclaves dans le camp des Philistins, se soulevèrent pour se joindre à Israël, à Saül, à Jonathan.

And the Hebrews they [who] were [belonging] to the Philistines as yesterday three days ago who they had gone up with them in the camp all around and also they to be with Israel which [was] with Saul and Jonathan.

22 Et tous ceux d'Israël, qui s'étaient cachés dans les montagnes d'Ephraïm, apprirent que les Philistins fuyaient; et ils se mirent à leur poursuite;

And every person of Israel who had hidden themselves in [the] hill country of Ephraim they heard that they had fled [the] Philistines and they pursued closely also they after them in the battle.

23 Et, ce jour-là, le Seigneur sauva Israël. La bataille fut livrée en Barnoth, et Saül eut environ dix mille hommes avec lui. On combattit dans toutes les villes des montagnes d'Ephrem.

And he delivered Yahweh on the day that Israel and the battle it passed beyond Beth Aven.

24 Or, Saül, ce jour-là, commit un grand péché par ignorance: il prononça une malédiction contre le peuple, disant: Maudit soit l'homme qui mangera avant le soir; car je veux avant tout tirer vengeance de mon ennemi. Et nul, parmi le peuple, ne goûta de pain, tandis que, sur toute la terre, chacun prenait son repas.

And [the] man of Israel he was hard pressed on the day that and he had put under oath Saul the people saying [be] cursed the person who he will eat food until the evening and I will avenge myself from enemies my and not it tasted all the people food.

25 Et devant le champ de bataille, la forêt de Jaal était remplie de miel.

And all the land they went in the forest and it was honey on [the] surface of the field.

26 Le peuple passait près des abeilles, et s'en allait devisant, et nul n'osait porter la main à sa bouche; car ils redoutaient l'imprécation portée au nom du Seigneur.

And it came the people into the forest and there! a flowing of honey and there not [was one who] reached hand his to mouth his for it feared the people the oath.

27 Jonathan, qui n'avait point entendu son père adjurer le peuple, étendit la pointe de la baguette qu'il tenait à la main, la trempa dans un rayon de miel, porta la main à sa bouche, et ses yeux recouvrèrent la vue.

And Jonathan not he had heard when made to swear an oath father his the people and he stretched out [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand his and he dipped it in [the] honeycomb of the honey and he brought back hand his to mouth his (and they brightened *Q(K)*) eyes his.

28 Aussitôt, l'un du peuple s'écria, et lui dit: Ton père a vivement adjuré le peuple; il a dit: Maudit soit l'homme qui mangera avant le soir. Or, le peuple était à bout de forces.

And he answered a person from the people and he said certainly he made to swear an oath father your the people saying [be] cursed the person who he will eat food this day and it was weary the people.

29 Jonathan le savait, et il dit: Mon père trouble la terre promise; sois témoin que mes yeux ont recouvré la vue, dès que j'ai eu goûté un peu de ce miel.

And he said Jonathan he has troubled father my the land see please that they brightened eyes my for I tasted a little of honey this.

30 Si le peuple s'était rassasié des vivres qu'il a trouvé parmi les dépouilles des ennemis, il y eût eu de ceux-ci un plus grand carnage.

Indeed? for certainly [if] it had eaten this day the people any of [the] plunder of enemies its which it found for now not it has been great defeat among the Philistines.

31 Or, ce jour-là, il avait exterminé nombre de Philistins à Machmas, et le peuple était accablé de fatigue.

And they defeated on the day that the Philistines from Micmash Aijalon towards and it was weary the people exceedingly.

32 Et, le soir venu, le peuple, se jetant sur les dépouilles, prit des brebis, des bœufs, des veaux, et les égorgea à terre; puis, il les mangea avec leur sang.

(And it rushed *Q(K)*) the people to (the plunder *Q(K)*) and they took sheep and cattle and [the] young of cattle and they slaughtered [them] [the] ground towards and it ate [them] the people with the blood.

33 Et des gens le rapportèrent à Saül, disant: Le peuple a péché contre le Seigneur, il a mangé des chairs avec du sang. Et Saül dit: Roulez-moi de Getthaim ici une grande pierre.

And people told to Saul saying there! the people [are] sinning to Yahweh by eating with the blood and he said you have acted treacherously roll to me this day a stone great.

34 Cela fait, Saül dit à ces gens: Dispersez-vous parmi le peuple, dites- leur d'amener ici chacun son veau ou sa brebis; qu'on égorge les victimes sur cette pierre, et vous, gardez-vous de pécher envers le Seigneur en les mangeant avec leur sang. Le peuple amena donc là ce qu'il avait à conduire, et on égorgea les victimes au même lieu.

And he said Saul be scattered among the people and you will say to them bring near to me each one ox his and each one sheep his and you will slaughter [it] in this [place] and you will eat [it] and not you will sin to Yahweh by eating with the blood and they brought near all the people each one ox his in hand his this night and they slaughtered [it] there.

35 Et Saül y bâtit un autel au Seigneur; ce fut le premier autel que Saül éleva au Seigneur.

And he built Saul an altar to Yahweh it he began to build an altar to Yahweh.

36 Ensuite, Saül dit: Poursuivons toute la nuit les Philistins, nous leur ferons des prisonniers, jusqu'à ce que le jour paraisse, et nous n'en laisserons pas échapper un seul. A quoi ils répondirent: Fais ce que bon te semble. Mais le prêtre dit: Allons d'abord au Seigneur.

And he said Saul let us go down after [the] Philistines - night and let us plunder them - until [the] light of the morning and not we will leave among them anyone and people said all the good in view your do. And he said the priest let us draw near here to God.

37 Et Saül fit cette question au Seigneur: Si je poursuis les Philistins, les livrerez-vous aux mains d'Israël? Le Seigneur ne lui répondit point.

And he enquired Saul by God ¿ will I go down after [the] Philistines ¿ will you give them in [the] hand of Israel and not he answered him on the day that.

38 Et Saül dit: Faites venir ici tous les rangs d'Israël: que l'on sache lequel d'entre eux aujourd'hui a péché.

And he said Saul draw near here O all [the] corners of the people and know and see how? has it happened the sin this this day.

39 Car, vive le Seigneur qui a sauvé Israël, s'il est reconnu que c'est Jonathan mon fils, Jonathan sera mis à mort. Et, parmi le peuple, nul ne répondit.

For [by] [the] life of Yahweh who delivers Israel for except there it [is] in Jonathan son my for certainly he will die and not [was] answering him any of all the people.

40 Alors, Saül dit à chaque homme d'Israël: Vous serez asservis; moi et mon fils Jonathan nous serons asservis. Et le peuple dit à Saül: Fais ce que bon te semble

And he said to all Israel you you will be to a side one and I and Jonathan son my we will be to a side one and they said the people to Saul the good in view your do.

41 Et Saül dit: Seigneur Dieu d'Israël, pourquoi refusez-vous aujourd'hui de répondre à votre serviteur? Est-il en moi ou en mon fils Jonathan quelque iniquité? Donnez-nous des signes, et, s'ils nous accusent, donnez à votre peuple Israël, donnez-lui le privilège de l'innocence. Et le sort désigna Saül et Jonathan; le peuple sortit innocent.

And he said Saul to Yahweh [the] God of Israel (why? not you did answer servant your the day if there in me or in Jonathan son my the iniquity this Yahweh [the] God [of] Israel give! Urim and if is it the iniquity this in people your [of] Israel *X*) give! Thummim and he was taken by lot Jonathan and Saul and the people they went out.

42 Puis, Saül dit: Agitez les sorts entre moi et Jonathan mon fils. Celui qu'indiquera le Seigneur, qu'il soit mis à mort. Le peuple, à ces mots, dit à Saül: Cela ne peut être; mais Saül imposa silence au peuple. L'on agita donc les sorts entre lui et Jonathan son fils, et le sort désigna Jonathan.

And he said Saul make fall between me and between Jonathan son my and he was taken by lot Jonathan.

43 Alors, Saül dit à Jonathan: Déclare-moi ce que tu as fait. Jonathan le lui avoua, et dit: J'ai goûté, au bout de la baguette que je tenais à la main, un peu de miel, et voilà que je meurs.

And he said Saul to Jonathan tell! to me what? have you done and he told to him Jonathan and he said certainly I tasted with [the] end of the staff which [was] in hand my a little of honey here I I will die.

44 Et Saül dit: Que le Seigneur me punisse, et qu'il me punisse encore, si tu ne meurs aujourd'hui.

And he said Saul thus may he do God and thus may he add for certainly you will die O Jonathan.

45 Mais le peuple dit à Saül: Celui qui vient de sauver si bravement Israël mourra-t-il? Vive le Seigneur! pas un cheveu ne tombera de sa tête, car le peuple de Dieu a été vainqueur aujourd'hui. Le peuple, en ce jour-là, pria donc pour Jonathan, et il ne mourut pas.

And it said the people to Saul ¿ Jonathan - will he die who he has done the deliverance great this in Israel far be it [by] [the] life of Yahweh if it will fall one of [the] hair[s] of head his [the] ground towards for with God he has acted the day this and they redeemed the people Jonathan and not he died.

46 Et Saül renonça à poursuivre les Philistins; et ceux-ci retournèrent en leur pays.

And he went up Saul from after [the] Philistines and [the] Philistines they went to own place their.

47 Saül, en obtenant par le sort la royauté, avait été chargé par le sort de faire œuvre pour Israël; tout alentour, il combattit donc ses ennemis: Moab, les fils d'Ammon, les fils d'Edom, Béthéor, le roi de Suba et tous les Philistins.

And Saul he had taken the kingship over Israel and he waged war all around - against all enemies his against Moab - and against [the] people of Ammon and against Edom and against [the] kings of Zobah and against the Philistines and in every where he turned he acted wickedly.

48 Il fut un homme fort; il vainquit Amalec, et il tira Israël des mains de ceux qui le foulaient aux pieds.

And he did strength and he defeated Amalek and he delivered Israel from [the] hand of [those who] plundered it.

49 Les fils de Saül étaient Jonathan, Jessui et Melchisa; ses filles se nommaient: la première, Mérob, la plus jeune, Michol.

And they were [the] sons of Saul Jonathan and Ishvi and Malki-Shua and [the] name of [the] two daughters his [the] name of the firstborn [was] Merab and [the] name of the young [one] [was] Michal.

50 Le nom de sa femme était Achinoom, fille d'Achimaas; son général s'appelait Abner, fils de Ner, parent de Saül.

And [the] name of [the] wife of Saul [was] Ahinoam [the] daughter of Ahimaaz and [the] name of [the] commander of army his [was] Abner [the] son of Ner [the] uncle of Saul.

51 Car Cis était père de Saül, et Ner, père d'Abner, était fils de Jamin, fils d'Abiel.

And Kish [was] [the] father of Saul and Ner [the] father of Abner [was] [the] son of Abiel.

52 La guerre contre les Philistins fut rude pendant toute la vie de Saül, et tous les hommes puissants et les braves que voyait Saül, il les réunissait autour de lui.

And it was the war severe on [the] Philistines all [the] days of Saul and he saw Saul every man mighty and every son of strength and he gathered him to himself.
