1 En la dix-huitième année du règne de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, Abiam, fils de Roboam, devint roi de Juda.
Now in the eighteenth year of king Jerobo'am the son of Nebat became Abiyam king over Judah.
2 Et il régna trois ans à Jérusalem; sa mère, fille d'Absalon, se nommait Maacha.
Three years he reigned in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Ma'achah, the daughter of Abishalom.
3 Et il marcha dans les péchés que son père avait faits devant lui, et son cœur ne fut point parfait avec le Seigneur son Dieu, comme l'était le cœur de son père David.
And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not entire with the Lord his God, like the heart of David his father.
4 Mais, à cause de David, le Seigneur lui donna un rejeton, afin de maintenir ses enfants après lui, et d'affermir Jérusalem;
Nevertheless for the sake of David did the Lord his God give him a rule in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him, and to allow Jerusalem to exist.
5 Parce que David avait fait ce qui est droit devant le Seigneur, et que, pendant toute sa vie, il ne s'était jamais écarté des commandements.
Because David did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, and turned not aside from all that he had commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriyah the Hittite.
And there had been war between Rehobo'am and Jerobo'am all the days of his life.
7 Quant au reste de l'histoire d'Abiam, n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Faits et gestes des rois de Juda? Et la guerre ne cessa pas entre Abiam et Jéroboam.
And the rest of the acts of Abiyam, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah. And there was [also] war between Abiyam and Jerobo'am.
8 Et Abiam s'endormit avec ses pères, en la vingt-quatrième année du règne de Jéroboam; il fut enseveli auprès de ses pères en la ville de David; et son fils Asa régna à sa place.
And Abiyam slept with his fathers; and they buried him in the city of David: and Assa his son became king in his stead.
9 Dans la vingt-quatrième année du règne de Jéroboam, roi d'Israël, Asa devint roi de Juda.
And in the twentieth year of Jerobo'am the king of Israel became Assa king over Judah.
10 Il régna quarante et un ans à Jérusalem; sa mère, fille d'Absalon, se nommait Ana.
And forty and one years did he reign in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Ma'achah, the daughter of Abishalom.
11 Et Asa fit ce qui était droit devant le Seigneur, comme son père David.
And Assa did what is right in the eyes of the Lord, like David his father.
12 Et il détruisit, dans la terre promise, les initiations, et il abolit les infâmes pratiques qu'avaient adoptées ses pères.
And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols which his fathers had made.
13 Il expulsa Ana, sa mère, pour qu'elle ne fût plus rien, parce qu'elle réunissait une association d'initiés dans son bois sacré, et il abattit ses refuges, et il les livra aux flammes dans la vallée de Cédron.
And also Ma'achah his mother, even her he removed from being queen; because she had made a scandalous image for the grove; and Assa cut down her scandalous image, and burnt it by the brook Kidron.
14 Mais il ne détruisit pas les hauts lieux; néanmoins, le cœur d'Asa fut parfait avec Dieu tout le temps qu'il vécut.
But the high-places were not removed; nevertheless Assa's heart was entire with the Lord all his days.
15 Et il transporta les colonnes de son père; il transporta dans le temple du Seigneur ses colonnes d'or et d'argent, et ses vases.
And he brought the things which his father had sanctified, and his own sanctified things, into the house of the Lord, silver, and gold, and vessels.
16 Et la guerre ne cessa point entre Asa et Baasa, roi d'Israël, tout le temps de leur vie.
And there was war between Assa and Ba'sha the king of Israel all their days.
17 Baasa, roi d'Israël, marcha contre Juda, et il se mit à bâtir Rhama, pour qu'il n'y eût personne qui pût sortir ni rentrer, en faveur du roi Asa.
And Ba'sha the king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah, in order not to suffer any one to go out or come in to Assa the king of Judah.
18 Asa, alors, prit tout l'argent et tout l'or qui se trouva dans les trésors du temple et du palais; il les confia à ses serviteurs, et il les envoya chez le fils d'Ader, fils de Tabremon, fils d'Esion, roi de Syrie, qui résidait à Damas, disant:
Then did Assa take all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house, and gave them into the hand of his servants; and king Assa sent them to Ben-hadad, the son of Tabrimmon, the son of Chesyon, the king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying,
19 Fais alliance entre moi et toi, entre la maison de mon père et la maison de ton père; voilà que je t'ai envoyé des présents: de l'argent et de l'or; viens, romps ton alliance avec Baasa, roi d'Israël, et il s'éloignera de moi.
A covenant is between me and thee, [as] between my father and thy father: behold, I have sent unto thee a present of silver and gold; go and do break thy covenant with Ba'sha the king of Israel, that he may withdraw from me.
20 Et Ben-Ader écouta le roi Asa; il fit partir les chefs de ses armées contre les villes d'Israël; ils dévastèrent Ahion, Dan, Abel de la maison de Maacha, et tout Cennereth jusqu'aux confins de Nephthali.
And Ben-hadad hearkened unto king Assa, and sent the captains of the armies which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote 'Iyon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-ma'achah, and the whole of Kinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.
21 Quand Baasa l'apprit, il abandonna les constructions de Rhama, et il retourna à Thersa.
And it came to pass, when Ba'sha heard this, that he left off the building of Ramah, and remained in Tirzah.
22 Et le roi Asa, dans Enacim, donna ses ordres à tout Juda, ils enlevèrent les pierres de Rhama, et les bois que Baasa avait employés pour la bâtir. Ensuite, le roi s'en servit pour fortifier toutes les collines de Benjamin, et pour y établir la tour du guet.
Then king Assa called together by proclamation all Judah, none being exempted: and they took away the stones of Ramah, and its timber, wherewith Ba'sha had built; and king Assa built with them Geba' of Benjamin, and Mizpah.
23 Quant au reste de l'histoire d'Asa, à toutes les actions qu'il fit en sa puissance, à toutes les villes qu'il bâtit, ne sont-ils pas inscrits au livre des Faits et gestes des rois de Juda? Toutefois, dans sa vieillesse, il, perdit l'usage de ses pieds.
And the rest of all the acts of Assa, and all his mighty deeds, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah. Nevertheless in the time of his old age he became diseased in his feet.
24 Et Asa s'endormit avec ses pères; il fut enseveli auprès d'eux en la ville de David, son aïeul. Et Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place.
And Assa slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David his father: and Jehoshaphat his son became king in his stead.
25 Nabat, fils de Jéroboam, devint roi d'Israël dans la seconde année du règne d'Asa en Juda, et Nabat régna deux ans.
And Nadab the son of Jerobo'am became king over Israel in the second year of Assa the king of Judah; and he reigned over Israel two years.
26 Et il fit le mai devant le Seigneur; il marcha dans la voie de son père, et dans les péchés où il avait fait tomber Israël.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and he walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he had induced Israel to sin.
27 Et Baasa, fils d'Achias, l'assiégea à la tète de la maison de Bélaan, fils d'Achias; il l'entoura de palissades à Gabathon, ville des Philistins, que Nabat et tout Israël avaient investie.
And Ba'sha the son of Achiyah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Ba'sha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines: while Nadab and all Israel were besieging Gibbethon.
28 Et Baasa le tua, la troisième année du règne d'Asa en Juda, et il régna à sa place.
And Ba'sha slew him in the third year of Assa the king of Judah, and became king in his stead.
29 Dès qu'il fut proclamé, il extermina toute la maison de Jéroboam; nul de ceux des siens, qui avait souffle de vie, ne fut épargné, jusqu'à ce que tout eût péri, selon la parole que le Seigneur avait dite par la voix de son serviteur Achias le Silonite,
And it came to pass, when he reigned, that he smote all the house of Jerobo'am; he left not any that breathed unto Jerobo'am, until he had destroyed him, according to the word of the Lord, which he had spoken by his servant Achiyah the Shilonite;
30 Concernant les péchés de Jéroboam, et le péché où il avait fait tomber Israël pour irriter le Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
Because of the sins of Jerobo'am which he had sinned, and through which he had induced Israel to sin, by his provoking wherewith he provoked the Lord the God of Israel to anger.
31 Quant au reste de l'histoire de Nabat, n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Faits et gestes des rois d'Israël?
And the rest of the acts of Nadab, and all that he did, behold, they are written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel.
32 En la troisième année du règne d'Asa en Juda, Baasa, fils d'Achias, fut proclamé roi d'Israël, et il régna vingt-quatre ans à Thersa.
And there was war between Assa and Ba'sha the king of Israel all their days.
33 En la troisième année du règne d'Asa en Juda, Baasa, fils d'Achias, fut proclamé roi d'Israël, et il régna vingt-quatre ans à Thersa.
In the third year of Assa the king of Judah became Ba'sha the son of Achiyah king over all Israel, in Thirzah, [for] twenty and four years.
34 Et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur; il marcha dans la voie de Jéroboam, fils de Nabat, et dans les péchés où il avait fait tomber Israël.
And he did what is evil in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the way of Jerobo'am, and in his sin wherewith he had induced Israel to sin.
