1 Quant aux fils d'Issachar, ils étaient quatre: Thola, Phua, Jasub et Sémeron.
Issachar’s four sons were Tola, Puah, Jashub, and Shimron.
2 Fils de Thola: Ozi, Raphaïas, Jeriel, Jamaï, Jémasan et Samuel, chefs des familles issues de Thola; dont le nombre, au temps de David, fut de vingt-deux mille six cents hommes, tous nés forts et vaillants.
Tola’s sons were Uzzi, Rephaiah, Jeriel, Jahmai, Ibsam, and Samuel (OR, Shemuel). They were all leaders of the clans [descended from] them. In the record of Tola’s descendants were the names of 22,600 men who served in the army during the time that David was the king [of Israel].
3 Fils d'Ozi: Jezraïe; fils de Jezraïe: Michel, Abdiu, Johel et Jésia; en tout cinq chefs.
Uzzi’s son was Izrahiah. Izrahiah’s five sons were Michael, Obadiah, Joel, and Isshiah. Izrahiah and his sons were all leaders of their clans.
4 Et avec eux, il y eut dans leurs familles paternelles des hommes nés forts et vaillants, au nombre de trente-six mille en état de porter les armes; Car ils avaient eu beaucoup de femmes et beaucoup d'enfants.
In the record of Izrahiah’s descendants were the names of 36,000 men who served in the army because they had many wives and children.
5 Et leurs frères dans toutes les familles d'Issachar, hommes forts et vaillants aussi, étaient quatre-vingt-sept mille; tel fut leur nombre total.
In the records of the clans descended from Issachar were the names of 87,000 men who served in the army.
6 Fils de Benjamin: Balé, Bachir et Jediel; trois.
[Some of the] sons of Benjamin were Bela, Beker, and Jediael.
7 Fils de Balé: Esebon, Ozi, Oziel, Jerimuth et Uri; cinq. Chefs des familles issues de Balé, au nombre de vingt-deux mille trente-quatre hommes forts et vaillants.
Bela’s five sons were Ezbon, Uzzi, Uzziel, Jerimoth, and Iri. They were all leaders of clans. In the records of the clans descended from Bela there were names of 22,034 men who served in the army.
8 Fils de Bachir: Zémira, Joas, Eliézer, Elithénan, Amarias, Jerimuth, Abiud, Anathoth et Eliémeth; voilà tous les fils de Bachir.
Beker’s sons were Zemirah, Joash, Eliezer, Elioenai, Omri, Jeremoth, Abijah, Anathoth, and Alemeth.
9 Et le nombre des familles dont, selon leur naissance, ils furent les premiers chefs, s'éleva jusqu'à vingt. mille deux cents hommes forts et vaillants.
In the records of the clans descended from Beker were the names of 20,200 men and leaders of the clans who served in the army.
10 Fils de Jediel: Balaan, fils de Balaan; Jaiis, Benjamin, Aoth, Chanana, Zêthan, Tharsi et Achisaar.
Jediael’s son was Bilhan. Bilhan’s sons were Jeush, Benjamin, Ehud, Kenaanah, Zethan, Tarshish, and Ahishahar.
11 Voilà tous les fils de Jediel, vaillants chefs de familles, dont le nombre fut de dix-sept mille deux cents hommes forts et vaillants, en état de porter les armes.
They were all leaders of clans descended from them. There were 17,200 of them who served in the army.
12 Saphin et Aphin étaient fils de Hor, et Hasom était fils d'Aor.
Shuppim and Huppim were descendants of Ir. [One of] the descendants of Aher was Hushim.
13 Fils de Nephtbali: Jasiel, Goni et Aser, Sellom, fils de ce dernier, et Balam son fils.
Naphtali’s sons were Jahziel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. They were all descendants of [Jacob’s slave wife] Bilhah.
14 Fils de Manassé: Esriel, qu'enfanta sa concubine la Syrienne, qui lui enfanta aussi Machir, père de Galaad.
[This is a list of] Manasseh’s descendants. Manasseh had a slave wife who was from Syria. She was the mother of Asriel and Makir. Makir was the father of Gilead.
15 Et Machir maria Aphin et Saphin; sa sœur s'appelait Moocha, et le nom du second fils fut Saphaad; or, Saphaad n'eut que des filles.
Makir [had two wives]. They were from the clans of Huppim and Shuppim. One of Makir’s wives was named Maacah. Another descendant [of Makir] was Zelophehad. Zelophehad [had no sons; he] had only daughters.
16 Et Moocha, femme de Machir, enfanta un fils, et elle le nomma Pharès, et il eut un frère nommé Suros, le même que Galaad, et ses deux fils furent Ulam et Rocom.
Makir’s wife Maacah gave birth to two sons whom she named Peresh and Sheresh. Sheresh’s sons were Ulam and Rakem.
17 Fils d'Ulam: Badam; voilà les fils de Galaad, fils de Machir, fils de Manassé.
Ulam’s son was Bedan. All those [men were considered to be] descendants of Gilead, who was the son of Makir and grandson of Manasseh.
18 Et sa sœur Malécheth enfanta Isud, Abiézer et Maéla;
Makir’s sister name was Hammoleketh who was the mother of Ishdod, Abiezer, and Mahlah.
19 Et Semira eut pour fils Kim, Sichem, Lacim et Anian.
[One son of Gilead was] Shemida, whose sons were Ahian, Shechem, Likhi, and Aniam.
20 Fils d'Ephraïm: Sothalath, Barad, Thaath, Elada, Saath,
[This is a list of] the descendants of Ephraim. One son of Ephraim’s was Shuthelah. Shuthelah’s son was Bered. Bered’s son was Tahath. Tahath’s son was Eleadah. Eleadah’s son was [also named] Tahath.
21 Zabad, Sothelé, Azer et Eléad. Et des hommes de Geth les tuèrent tous, parce qu'ils s'étaient mis en campagne pour enlever leurs troupeaux.
Tahath’s son was Zabad. Zabad’s son was Shuthelah. [Ephraim’s other sons, ] Ezer and Elead, went to Gath [city] to steal some cows and sheep. But they were both killed by some of the men from that city.
22 Et leur père Ephraïm s'affligea longtemps, et ses frères vinrent le consoler.
Their father Ephraim cried/mourned for them for many days, and his family came to comfort him.
23 Et il s'approcha de sa femme, et elle conçut, et elle eut un fils, et il le nomma Beria, parce que, dit-il, il est venu en ma maison dans notre malheur.
Then he and his wife had sex [EUP] [again], and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. Ephraim named him Beriah [which resembles the word ‘trouble’, ] because of the trouble that his family had experienced.
24 Et sa fille s'appelait Saraa, et elle fut de ceux qui survécurent, et elle bâtit Béthoron-la-Haute et Béthoron-la-Basse. Fils d'Ozan: Seïra,
Ephraim’s daughter was Sheerah. Her workers built [three towns]: Lower Beth-Horon, Upper Beth-Horon, and Uzzen-Sheerah.
25 Et Raphé son fils, Saraph et Thaléès ses fils, et Thaen son fils.
[Another] son of Ephraim was Rephah. Rephah’s son was Resheph. Resheph’s son was Telah. Telah’s son was Tahan.
26 A Laadan, son fils, naquit Amiud, père d'Elisamai,
Tahan’s son was Ladan. Ladan’s son was Ammihud. Ammihud’s son was Elishama.
27 Père de Nun, père de Josué; tels furent ses fils.
Elishama’s son was Nun. Nun’s son was Joshua, [the man who led the Israelis after Moses died].
28 Et leur demeure était Béthel et ses bourgs, et Noaran à l'est, et à l'occident Gazer et ses bourgs. Et Sichem et ses bourgs, jusqu'à Gazar et ses bourgs,
[This is a list of] the cities and areas where the descendants of Ephraim lived: Bethel and the nearby villages; Naaran to the east; Gezer to the west and the nearby villages; and Shechem and the nearby villages. Those villages extended [north] as far as Ayyah and the nearby villages.
29 Et jusqu'aux confins des fils de Manassé, Bethsan et ses bourgs, Thanach et ses bourgs, Mageddo et ses bourgs, Dor et ses bourgs. C'est là qu'étaient établis les fils de Joseph, fils d'Israél.
Along the border of the area where the descendants of Manasseh lived were these towns: Beth-Shan, Taanach, Megiddo, and Dor, and the nearby villages. The people who lived in all those places were descendants of Jacob’s son Joseph.
30 Enfants d'Aser: Jemna, Suïa, Isuï, Beria et Soré, sa sœur.
Asher’s sons were Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah. Their sister was Serah.
31 Fils de Beria: Haber, Melchiel; ce dernier père de Berthaïth.
Beriah’s sons were Heber and Malkiel. Malkiel was the father of Birzaith
32 Et Haber engendra Japhlet, Samer, Hothan et Sola, leur sœur.
Heber was the father of Japhlet, Shomer, and Hotham. Their sister was Shua.
33 Fils de Japhlet: Phasec, Bamahel et Asith; voilà les fils de Japhlet.
Japhlet’s sons were Pasach, Bimhal, and Ashvath.
34 Fils de Samer: Achi, Rooga, Joba et Aram.
Japhlet’s [younger] brother was Shomer. Shomer’s sons were Rohgah, Hubbah, and Aram.
35 Fils de son frère Banehelam: Sopha, Imala, Sellés et Amal.
Shomer’s [younger] brother was Hotham (OR, Helem). Hotham’s sons were Zophah, Imna, Shelesh, and Amal.
36 Fils de Sopha: Sué, Arnaphar, Suda, Barin, Imran,
Zophah’s sons were Suah, Harnepher, Shual, Beri, Imrah,
37 Basan, Hod, Sama, Salisa, Jethra et Bééra.
Bezer, Hod, Shamma, Shilshah, Ithran [whose other name was Jether], and Beera.
38 Fils de 'éther: Jephina, Phaspha et Ara.
Jether’s sons were Jephunneh, Pispah, and Ara.
39 Fils d'Ola: Orech, Aniel et Rasia;
[Another descendant of Asher was] Ulla, whose sons were Arah, Hanniel, and Rizia.
40 Tels furent les fils d'Aser, tous chefs de familles, dont le nombre fut de vingt-six mille hommes d'élite, forts et vaillants, en état de porter les armes.
All those men were descendants of Asher, and they were all leaders of their clans. They were brave warriors and excellent leaders. In the record of the clans that are descended from Asher are [the names of] 26,000 men who served in the army.
