1 Chroniques 4
1 De Juda sont issus: Pharès, Esron, Charmi, Hur, Sobal,
The sons of Judah: Perez, Chezron, and Carmi, and Chur, and Shobal.
2 Et Rhada son fils. Et Sobal engendra Jeth, et Jeth engendra Achimaï et Laad; les Arathites (Sarathéens) sont issus d'eux.
And Reayah the son of Shobal begat Jachath, and Jachath begat Achumai, and Lahad. These are the families of the Zor'athites.
3 Voici les fils d'Etham: Jezraël, Jesman et Jebdas; le nom de leur sœur était Eselebbon.
And these were [those of] the father of 'Etam, Jizre'el, and Yishma, and Yidbash: and the name of their sister was Hazzelelponi.
4 Et Phanuel fut le père de Gedor, et Jazer le père d'Osan. Voilà les fils de Hur, du premier-né d'Ephratha, père de Béthalaem.
And Penuel the father of Gedor, and 'Ezer the father of Chushah. These are the sons of Chur, the first-born of Ephratah, the father of Beth-lechem.
5 Et Assur, père de Thécoé, eut deux femmes: Aoda et Thoada.
And Ashchur the father of Thekoa' had two wives. Chelah and Na'arah.
6 Et Aoda lui enfanta Ohaïe, Ephal, Thêman et Aasther; voilà tous les fils d'Aoda.
And Na'arah bore him Achuzzam, and Chepher, and Themeni. and Haachashthari. These were the sons of Na'arah.
7 Fils de Thoada: Sereth, Saar et Esthanam.
And the sons of Chelah were, Zereth, and Zochar, and Ethnan.
8 Et Coé engendra Enob et Sabatha; le frère de Rhéchab, fils d'Iarin, est issu de lui.
And Koz begat 'Anub and Hazzobebah, and the families of Acharchel the son of Harum.
9 Et Igabès fut plus illustre que ses frères, et sa mère lui donna le nom d'Igabès, disant: J'ai enfanté comme Gabès.
And Ja'bez was more honorable than his brothers; and his mother called his name Ja'bez, saying, Because I bore him in pain.
10 Et Igabès invoqua le Dieu d'Israël, disant: Qu'il vous plaise de me bénir, et de me bénir, et de dilater mes limites; puisse votre main être avec moi; puissiez-vous faire connaître que vous ne m'abaisserez point. Et Dieu lui accorda tout ce qu'il avait demandé.
And Ja'bez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldst bless me indeed, and enlarge my boundary, and that thy hand might be with me, and that thou wouldst act for me against the evil, that it may not give me pain! And God granted him what he had asked for.
11 Et Caleb, père d'Ascha, engendra Machir; celui-ci, père d'Assathon,
And Kelub the brother of Shuchah begat Mechir, who was the father of Eshthon.
12 Engendra Bathraïas, Bessée et Thêman, père de la ville de Naas, frère d'Eselom, fils de Cenez; ce sont les hommes de Rhéchab.
And Eshthon begat Beth-rapha, and Passeach, and Techinnah the father of 'Irnachash. These are the men of Rechah.
13 Et les fils de Cenez furent: Gothoniel et Saraia; et Gothoniel eut pour fils Athath.
And the sons of Kenas: 'Othniel and Serayah. And the sons of 'Othniel: Chathath.
14 Et Manathi engendra Gophera, et Sarah engendra Jobab, père d'Ageaddaïr; car ils étaient tous artisans.
And Me'onothai begat 'Ophrah: and Serayah begat Joab, the father of the valley of the carpenters; for they were carpenters.
15 Fils de Caleb, fils de Jéphoné: Her, Ada et Noom; Ada fut le père de Cenez.
And the sons of Caleb the son of Jephunneh: 'Iru, Elah, and Na'am. And the sons of Elah: Ukenas.
16 Fils d'Alehel: Zib, Zépha, Thiria et Eserel.
And the sons of Jehalelel: Ziph, and Ziphah, Thireya, and Assarel.
17 Fils d'Esri: Jéther, Morad, Apher et Jamon; Jéther engendra Maron, Sémeï et Jesba, père d'Esthemon.
And the sons of 'Ezrah: Jether, and Mered, and 'Epher, and Jalon. And she conceived [and bore] Miriam, and Shammai, and Yishbach the father of Eshthemoa'.
18 Et sa femme Adia enfanta Jared, père de Gedor, et Aber, père de Sochon, et Hatiel, père de Zamon. Et Morad épousa Betthia, fille du Pharaon, et il en eut des fils.
And his wife the Jewess bore Jered the father of Gedor, and Cheber the father of Socho, and Jekuthiel the father of Zanoach. And these are the sons of D the daughter of Pharaoh, whom Mered had taken [for wife].
19 Et Iduée, sœur de Nachaïm, père de Cella, fut mère de Garmi, et d'Esthemon le Nohathite.
And the sons of the wife of Hodiyah the sister of Nacham: The father of Kei'lah the Garmite, and Eshthemoa' the Ma'achathite.
20 Fils de Semon: Amnon, Ana, fils de sa femme Phana, et Inon. Fils de Sei: Zoan, et les fils qu'il eut de Zoab.
And the sons of Shimon: Amnon, and Rinnah, Ben-chanan, and Thilon. And the sons of Yish'i were, Zocheth, and Benzocheth.
21 Fils de Sela, fils de Juda: Her, père de Léchab, et Laada, père de Marisa; les habitants d'Ephrathabac, qui appartient à la maison d'Esoba, sont issus d'eux,
The sons of Shelah the son of Judah: 'Er the father of Lechah, and La'dah the father of Mareshah, and the families of the house of those that wrought fine linen, of the house of Ashbea'.
22 Et Joacin, et les hommes de Hozeba, et Joas, et Saraph: ceux-ci demeurèrent en Moab, et Dieu les en ramena; Abederin, Athouciim.
And Jokim, and the men of Cozeba, and Joash, and Saraph, who had dominion in Moab, and Jashubi-lechem. And these are ancient things.
23 C'étaient les potiers qui, avec le roi, habitaient Ataïm et Gadira; ils s'étaient enrichis dans ce royaume, et ils s'y étaient fixés.
There were the potters, and those that dwelt in plantations and sheepfolds: for the king's sake to do his work they dwelt there.
24 Fils de Siméon: Namuel, Jamin, Jarib, Zarès et Saül,
The sons of Simeon: Nemuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zerach, and Saul.
25 Salem son fils, Mabasam son fils, Masma son fils,
Shallum his son, Mibsam his son, Mishma' his son.
26 Amuel son fils, Sabud son fils, Zacchur son fils, Sémeï son fils.
And the sons of Mishma': Hamuel his son, Zaccur his son, Shim'i his son.
27 Sémeï eut seize fils et six filles, et ses frères n'eurent pas beaucoup d'enfants. Et leurs familles ne se multiplièrent point comme les fils de Juda.
And Shim'i had sixteen sons and six daughters; but his brethren had not many children, nor did all their family multiply, equal to the children of Judah.
28 Et ils habitaient: en Bersabée, en Molada, en Esersual,
And they dwelt at Beer-sheba', and Moladah, and Chazar-shu'al.
29 En Balaa, en Esem et en Tholad,
And at Bilhah, and at 'Ezem, and at Tholad,
30 En Bathuel, en Herma et en Sicelag (Sécelac),
And at Bethuel, and at Chormah, and at Ziklag.
31 En Bethmarimoth, en Hemisuséosin et en la maison de Baruséorim; telles furent leurs villes jusqu'au roi David.
And at Beth-marcaboth, and Chazar-sussim, and at Beth-biri, and at Sha'arayim. These were their cities until the reign of David.
32 Et leurs villages étaient: Etan, et Hin, et Rhemnon, et Thocca, et Esar; cinq villages.
And their villages were 'Etam, and 'Ayin, Rimmon, and Tochen, and 'Ashan, five cities;
33 Et tous leurs villages étaient autour des villes jusqu'à Baal: tel était leur domaine, et telle était sa distribution.
And all their villages that were round about these same cities as far as Ba'al. These were their dwelling-places, and after them are they recorded.
34 Et Mosobab, et Jémoloch, et Josias, fils d'Amasias,
And Meshobab, and Jamlech, and Joshah the son of Amazyah,
35 Et Johel, et Jéhu, fils d'Asabias, fils de Saraus fils d'Asiel,
And Joel, and Jehu the son of Joshibyah, the son of Serayah, the son of 'Assiel.
36 Et Elionaï, et Jocaba, et Jasuïe, et Asaïe, et Jediel, et Ismaël, et Bananias,
And Elyo'enai and Ja'akobah, and Jeshochayah, and 'Assayah, and Adiel, and Jessimiel, and Benayah.
37 Et Zuza, fils de Saphaï, fils d'Alon, fils de Jedia, fils de Semri, fils de Samaïe,
And Ziza the son of Shiph'i, the son of Allon, the son of Jedayah, the son of Shimri, the son of Shema'yah:
38 Furent ceux qui eurent le nom de chefs en leurs familles, et qui, en leurs maisons paternelles, se multiplièrent jusqu'à la multitude;
These mentioned by their names were princes in their families; and their family divisions spread themselves out greatly.
39 Et ils partirent, et ils allèrent jusqu'à Gérara, à l'orient d'Haï, chercher des pâturages pour leurs troupeaux.
And they went to the entrance of Gedur, as far as the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.
40 Et ils en trouvèrent d'excellents en abondance; et la contrée devant eux était vaste, et le calme et la paix y régnaient; car auparavant quelques fils de Cham seulement s'y étaient établis.
And they found a fat and good pasture, and the land was roomy, and quiet, and peaceable; for descendants of Ham dwelt there before that time.
41 Or, ceux dont les noms sont écrits ci-dessus, entrèrent chez eux au temps d'Ezéchias, roi de Juda; ils ruinèrent leurs demeures, ainsi que les Mineïens qu'ils y avaient trouvés, et ils les détruisirent entièrement, comme on le voit encore, et ils demeurèrent à leur place dans cette contrée, parce qu'il y avait des pâturages pour leur bétail.
And then came these written down by name in the days of Hezekiah the king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their stead; because there was pasture there for their flocks.
42 Et cinq cents hommes de ces fils de Siméon avec leurs chefs: Phalaetti, Noadie, Raphia et Oziel, fils de Jési, se transportèrent en la montagne de Seïr.
And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Se'ir having at their head Pelatyah, and Ne'aryah, and Rephayah, and 'Uzziel, the sons of Yish'i.
43 Et ils exterminèrent les restes d'Amalec, qui ne s'en sont jamais relevés jusqu'à nos jours.
And they smote the rest of the 'Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.
