1 Chroniques 27

1 Et, pendant le cours de l'année, de mois en mois, une division de vingt- quatre mille hommes, prise parmi tous les fils d'Israël, chefs de familles, commandants de mille hommes, centeniers, scribes et serviteurs, était employée à exécuter les ordres du roi; chaque division était relevée à son tour.

Now the sons of Israel according to their number, heads of families, captains of thousands and captains of hundreds, and scribes ministering to the king, and for every affair of the king according to [their] divisions, [for] every ordinance of coming in and going out monthly, for all the months of the year, one division of them [was] twenty-four thousand.

2 A la tête de la première division employée le premier mois était Isboaz, fils de Zabdiel; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

And over the first division of the first month [was] Isboaz the son of Zabdiel: in his division [were] twenty-four thousand.

3 Il était issu de Pharès, et comme chef de tous les chefs de l'armée, il commandait pendant le premier mois.

Of the sons of Tharez [one] was chief of all the captains of the host for the first month.

4 A la tête de la division du second mois était Dodia, fils d'Eccoc, et il y avait encore pour chef de cette division Maceloth; ils étaient chefs de vingt- quatre mille hommes.

And over the division of the second month [was] Dodia the son of Ecchoc, and over his division [was] Makelloth also chief: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand, chief men of the host.

5 Banaïas, fils de Joad le prêtre, était le troisième chef, il commandait la division du troisième mois, pareillement vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The third for the third month [was] Banaias the son of Jodae the chief priest: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

6 Ce Banaïas était le plus vaillant des trente; il était à leur tête, et son fils Zabad commandait avec lui sa division.

This Banaeas [was] more mighty than the thirty, and over the thirty: and Zabad his son [was] over his division.

7 Le quatrième, celui du quatrième mois, était Asaël, frère de Joab, et son fils Zabadie; ses fils et ses frères partageaient son commandement sur vingt- quatre mille hommes.

The fourth for the fourth month [was] Asael the brother of Joab, and Zabadias his son, and his brethren: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

8 Le cinquième chef, celui du cinquième mois, était Samaoth le Jezraïte; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The fifth chief for the fifth month [was] Samaoth the Jezraite: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

9 Le sixième, celui du sixième mois, était Oduïas, fils d'Eccès de Thécoé; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The sixth for the sixth month [was] Hoduias the son of Ekkes the Thecoite: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

10 Le septième, celui du septième mois, était Relies de Phallus, des fils d'Ephrahn; sa division comptait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The seventh for the seventh month [was] Chelles of Phallus of the children of Ephraim: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

11 Le huitième, celui du huitième mois, était Sohochaï de Husathi, issu de Zara; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The eighth for the eighth month [was] Sobochai the Usathite, [belonging] to Zarai: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

12 Le neuvième, celui du neuvième mois, était Abiézer d'Anathoth, de la terre de Benjamin; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The ninth for the ninth month [was] Abiezer of Anathoth, of the land of Benjamin: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

13 Le dixième, celui du dixième mois, était Méhéra de Netophathi, issu de Zara; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The tenth for the tenth month [was] Meera the Netophathite, [belonging] to Zarai: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

14 Le onzième, celui du onzième mois, était Baillas de Pharathon, des fils d'Ephraïm; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The eleventh for the eleventh month [was] Banaias of Pharathon, of the sons of Ephraim: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

15 Le douzième, celui du douzième mois, était Holdia de Netophathi, issu d'Othoniel; il commandait vingt-quatre mille hommes.

The twelfth for the twelfth month [was] Choldia the Netophathite, [belonging] to Gothoniel: and in his division [were] twenty and four thousand.

16 Et il y avait des chefs à la tête de claque tribu; celui de Ruben était Eliézer, fils de Zéchri; celui de Siméon, Saphatias, fils de Maacha.

And over the tribes of Israel, the chief for Ruben [was] Eliezer the son of Zechri: for Symeon, Saphatias the son of Maacha:

17 Celui de Lévi, Asabias, fils de Camuel; Sadoc était chef de la famille d'Aaron.

for Levi, Asabias the son of Camuel: for Aaron, Sadoc:

18 Le chef de Juda était Eliab, l'un des frères de David; celui d'Issachar Ambri, fils de Michel.

for Juda, Eliab of the brethren of David: for Issachar, Ambri the son of Michael:

19 Celui de Zabulon, Samain, fils d'Abdiu; celui de Nephthali: Jerimoth, fils d'Oziel.

for Zabulon, Samaeas the son of Abdiu: for Nephthali, Jerimoth the son of Oziel:

20 Celui d'Ephraïm, Osé, fils d'Oziu; celui de la demi-tribu de Manassé: Johel, fils de Phadaïa.

for Ephraim, Ose the son of Ozia: for the half-tribe of Manasse, Joel the son of Phadaea:

21 Celui de l'autre demi-tribu de Manassé, en Galaad, Jadaï, fils de Zadaïu; celui de Benjamin, Jasiel, fils d'Abner.

for the half-tribe of Manasse in the land of Galaad, Jadai the son of Zadaeas, for the sons of Benjamin, Jasiel the son of Abenner:

22 Celui de Dan: Azariel, fils de Iroab; tels étaient les chefs de familles des tribus d'Israël.

for Dan, Azariel the son of Iroab: these [are] the chiefs of the tribes of Israel.

23 Et David ne fit point le dénombrement de ceux de vingt ans et au-dessous, car le Seigneur lui avait dit qu'il multiplierait Israël comme les étoiles du ciel.

But David took not their number from twenty years old and under: because the Lord said that he would multiply Israel as the stars of the heaven.

24 Et Joab, fils de Sarvia, avait commencé le dénombrement du peuple, mais il ne l'acheva point; et ce dénombrement causa la colère qui éclata contre Israël, et le nombre que l'on avait trouvé fut supprimé du livre des faits et gestes du roi David.

And Joab the son of Saruia began to number the people, and did not finish the work, for there was hereupon wrath on Israel; and the number was not recorded in the book of the chronicles of king David.

25 Asmoth, fils d'Adaël, fut trésorier du roi, et Jonathas, fils d'Ozia, trésorier de la contrée, des villes, des villages et des tours.

And over the king's treasures [was] Asmoth the son of Odiel; and over the treasures in the country, and in the towns, and in the villages, and in the towers, [was] Jonathan the son of Ozia.

26 Esdri, fils d'Hélab, avait l'intendance des laboureurs et ouvriers travaillant à la terre.

And over the husbandmen who tilled the ground [was] Esdri the son of Chelub.

27 Semei de Rahel, celle des champs; Zabni, fils de Jephni, celle des vignes.

And over the fields [was] Semei of Rael; and over the treasures of wine in the fields [was] Zabdi the son of Sephni.

28 Balanan le Gedorite, celle des oliviers et des figuiers des champs; Joas, celle de l'huile.

And over the oliveyards, and over the sycamores in the plain country [was] Ballanan the Gedorite; and over the stores of oil [was] Joas.

29 Satrai le Saronite, celle des bœufs qui paissaient en Saron; et Sophat, fils d'Abdi, celle des bœufs à l'étable.

And over the oxen pasturing in Saron [was] Satrai the Saronite; and over the oxen in the valleys [was] Sophat the son of Adli.

30 Abias, l'Ismaélite, celle des chameaux; Jadias de Merathon, celle des ânes.

And over the camels [was] Abias the Ismaelite; and over the asses [was] Jadias of Merathon.

31 Jaziz l'Agarite, celle des brebis. Tels étaient tous les intendants des domaines du roi David.

And over the sheep [was] Jaziz the Agarite. All these [were] superintendents of the substance of king David.

32 Jonathas, oncle paternel de David, était conseiller, homme intelligent; et Jehel, fils d'Achami, était avec les fils du roi.

And Jonathan, David's uncle by the father's side, [was] a counsellor, a wise man: and Jeel the son of Achami [was] with the king's sons.

33 Achitophel était conseiller du roi, et Chusi son principal favori.

Achitophel [was] the king's counsellor: and Chusi the chief friend of the king.

34 Après lui venaient Achitophel, Joad, fils de Banaïas et Abiathar. Joab était le général en chef du roi.

And after this Achitophel Jodae the son of Banaeas [came] next, and Abiathar: and Joab [was] the king's commander-in-chief.
