1 Chroniques 13
1 Et David tint conseil avec tous ses chefs, centeniers ou commandants de mille hommes.
And Dauid counselled with the captaines of thousandes and of hundreths, and with all the gouernours.
2 Et David dit à toute l'Église d'Israël: Si cela vous paraît bon et agréable au Seigneur notre Dieu, envoyons chez nos frères qui sont restés en tout le territoire d'Israël, et chez les prêtres et les lévites, dans les villes où ils résident; qu'il se réunissent à nous,
And Dauid said to all the Congregation of Israel, If it seeme good to you, and that it proceedeth of the Lord our God, we will sende to and from vnto our brethren, that are left in all the lande of Israel (for with them are the Priests and the Leuites in the cities and their suburbes) that they may assemble them selues vnto vs.
3 Et amenons auprès de nous l'arche de notre Dieu; car, depuis l'avènement de Saül, on ne l'a point demandée.
And we will bring againe the Arke of our God to vs: for we sought not vnto it in the dayes of Saul.
4 Et toute l'Église dit qu'il fallait faire ainsi; car ce discours avait plu à tout le peuple.
And all the Congregation answered, Let vs doe so: for the thing seemed good in the eyes of all the people.
5 Et David réunit tout Israël, depuis les confins de l'Égypte jusqu'aux défilés d'Emath, pour ramener l'arche de la ville d'Iarim.
So Dauid gathered all Israel together from Shihor in Egypt, euen vnto the entring of Hamath, to bring the Arke of God from Kiriath-iearim.
6 Et David la ramena; et tout Israël entra dans la ville de David, qui est en Juda, pour y introduire l'arche du Seigneur Dieu assis sur les chérubins, où est invoqué son nom.
And Dauid went vp and all Israel to Baalath, in Kiriath-iearim, that was in Iudah, to bring vp from thence the Arke of God the Lord that dwelleth betweene the Cherubims, where his Name is called on.
7 On avait posé l'arche de Dieu sur un chariot neuf de la maison d'Aminadab; Oza et ses frères conduisaient l'attelage.
And they caryed the Arke of God in a newe cart out of the house of Abinadab: and Vzza and Ahio guided the cart.
8 Et David et tout Israël jouaient de tout leur cœur de la flûte, de la lyre, du tambour, et des cymbales, et de la harpe, au milieu des cantiques.
And Dauid and all Israel played before God with all their might, both with songes and with harpes, and with violes, and with timbrels and with cymbales and with trumpets.
9 Et ils vinrent jusqu'à l'aire; là, Oza étendit la main pour maintenir l'arche que le mouvement d'un bœuf avait fait pencher.
And when they came vnto the thresshing floore of Chidon, Vzza put forth his hand to holde the Arke, for the oxen did shake it.
10 Mais le Seigneur s'irrita contre Oza, et il le frappa en ce lieu même, parce qu'il avait porté la main sur l'arche; et il mourut là devant Dieu.
But the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Vzza, and he smote him, because he layed his hande vpon the Arke: so he dyed there before God.
11 Et David fut abattu, parce que Dieu avait châtié Oza, et ce lieu fut appelé le Châtiment d'Oza, nom qu'il porte encore de nos jours.
And Dauid was angrie, because the Lord had made a breach in Vzza, and he called the name of that place Perez-vzza vnto this day.
12 Et, ce jour-là, David eut crainte du Seigneur, et il dit: Comment ferai- je entrer chez moi l'arche du Seigneur?
And Dauid feared God that day, saying, Howe shall I bring in to me the Arke of God?
13 Et David ne ramena pas l'arche avec lui dans la ville de David; mais la fit placer en la maison d'Abdara le Géthéen.
Therefore Dauid brought not the Arke to him into the citie of Dauid, but caused it to turne into the house of Obed Edom the Gittite.
14 Et l'arche du Seigneur resta trois mois en la maison d'Abdara le Géthéen, et le Seigneur bénit toute la maison d'Abdara et tout ce qui lui appartenait.
So the Arke of God remained in the house of Obed Edom, euen in his house three moneths: and the Lord blessed the house of Obed Edom, and all that he had.
