Psaumes 99

1 L’Eternel règne: les nations tremblent; il siège sur les Chérubins: la terre vacille.

The Lord is King; let the peoples be in fear: his seat is on the winged ones; let the earth be moved.

2 L’Eternel est grand dans Sion, élevé bien au-dessus de toutes les nations.

The Lord is great in Zion; he is high over all the nations.

3 Qu’on rende hommage à ton nom grand et redoutable: il est saint!

Let them give praise to your name, for it is great and to be feared; holy is he.

4 La force du roi, c’est l’amour de la justice. C’Est toi qui as fondé solidement l’équité, exercé le droit et la justice dans Jacob.

The king's power is used for righteousness; you give true decisions, judging rightly in the land of Jacob.

5 Exaltez l’Eternel, notre Dieu, prosternez-vous devant l’escabeau de ses pieds: il est saint!

Give high honour to the Lord our God, worshipping at his feet; holy is he.

6 Moïse et Aaron étaient parmi ses prêtres, Samuel parmi ceux qui invoquaient son nom: ils criaient vers l’Eternel et il leur répondait.

Moses and Aaron among his priests, and Samuel among those who gave honour to his name; they made prayers to the Lord, and he gave answers to them.

7 Dans une colonne de nuée il leur parlait; ils demeuraient fidèles à ses statuts, aux lois qu’il leur avait données.

His voice came to them from the pillar of cloud; they kept his witness, and the law which he gave them.

8 Eternel, notre Dieu, tu les exauçais; tu étais pour eux un Dieu enclin au pardon, mais exerçant des représailles pour leurs fautes.

You gave them an answer, O Lord our God; you took away their sin, though you gave them punishment for their wrongdoing.

9 Exaltez l’Eternel, notre Dieu, prosternez-vous sur sa montagne sainte, car il est saint, l’Eternel, notre Dieu.

Give high honour to the Lord our God, worshipping with your faces turned to his holy hill; for the Lord our God is holy.
