Psaumes 91
1 Celui qui demeure sous la sauvegarde du Très-Haut, et s’abrite à l’ombre du Tout-Puissant,
Those who live under the protection of God Almighty, will be able to rest [safely] under his care.
2 qu’il dise à l’Eternel: "Tu es mon refuge, ma citadelle, mon Dieu, en qui je place ma confiance!"
I will declare to Yahweh, “You protect me; [you are like] a fort [MET] in which I am safe. You are my God, the one in whom I trust.”
3 Car c’est lui qui te préserve du piège de l’oiseleur, de la peste meurtrière.
Yahweh will rescue you from all hidden traps and save you from deadly diseases.
4 Il te recouvre de ses vastes pennes; sous ses ailes tu trouves un refuge: sa bonté est un bouclier et une cuirasse.
He will shield/protect you [like a bird shields/protects its chicks] [MET] with/under her wings. You will be safe (in his care/because he takes care of you). His faithfully doing what he has promised is like a shield [MET] that will protect you.
5 Tu n’auras à craindre ni les terreurs de la nuit, ni les flèches qui voltigent le jour,
You will not be afraid of things that happen during the night that could (terrorize you/cause you to be very afraid), or of arrows that [your enemies will shoot at you] during the day.
6 ni la peste qui chemine dans l’ombre, ni l’épidémie qui exerce ses ravages en plein midi.
You will not be afraid of (plagues/widespread sicknesses) that demons cause when they attack people at night, or of other [evil forces] that kill people at midday.
7 Qu’à tes côtés il en tombe mille, dix mille à ta droite: toi, le mal ne t’atteindra point.
Even if 1,000 people fall [dead] alongside you, even if 10,000 [people are dying] around you, you will not be harmed.
8 Tu le verras seulement de tes yeux, tu seras témoin de la rémunération des méchants.
Look and see that (wicked people are being punished/God is punishing wicked people)!
9 C’Est que tu as dit: "L’Eternel est mon refuge!" Dans le Très-Haut tu as placé ton abri.
If you allow Yahweh to protect you, if you trust God Almighty to (shelter/take care of) you,
10 Nul malheur ne te surviendra, nul fléau n’approchera de ta tente;
nothing evil will happen to you; no plague will come near your house,
11 car à ses anges il a donné mission de te protéger en toutes tes voies.
because Yahweh will command his angels to protect you wherever you go.
12 Sur leurs bras ils te porteront, pour que ton pied ne se heurte à aucune pierre.
They will hold you up with their hands, with the result that you will not hurt your foot on a big stone.
13 Tu marcheras sur le chacal et la vipère, tu fouleras le lionceau et le serpent.
You will be [kept safe from being harmed by your enemies] [MET]; [it will be as though] you are stepping on lions and poisonous snakes [without them harming you!]
14 "Car dit le Seigneur il m’est attaché, et je veux le sauver du danger; je veux le grandir, parce qu’il connaît mon nom.
[Yahweh says], “I will rescue those who love me, I will protect them because they (acknowledge that I am Yahweh/know me).
15 Il m’appelle et je lui réponds; je suis avec lui dans la détresse, je le délivre et le comble d’honneur.
When they call out to me, I will answer them. I will help them when they are experiencing trouble; I will rescue them and honor them.
16 Je le rassasie de longs jours, et le fais jouir de mon salut.
I will reward them by enabling them to live a long time, and I will save them.”
