Psaumes 53

1 Au chef des chantres; sur Mahalat. Maskîl de David. L’Impie a dit en son cœur: "Il n’est point de Dieu!" On est corrompu, on commet des actes odieux; personne ne fait le bien.

[Only] foolish people say to themselves, “There is no God!” People who say that are corrupt; they commit terrible sins; there is not one of them who does what is good/right.

2 Dieu, du haut du ciel, regarde les hommes, pour voir s’il en est de bien inspirés, recherchant Dieu.

God looks down from heaven and sees humans; he looks to see if anyone is [very] wise, with the result that he seeks [to know] God.

3 Tous ils ont dévié, ensemble ils sont pervertis; personne n’agit bien, pas même un seul.

[But] they are all morally corrupt; no one does what is good/right.

4 Ah! ils s’en ressentiront, tous ces ouvriers d’iniquité, qui dévorent mon peuple comme on mange du pain, et n’invoquent point Dieu.

Will all these evil people never learn [what God will do to them]? They act violently toward Yahweh’s people while eating the food that he provides, and they never pray to Yahweh.

5 Là même ils seront saisis d’effroi, où il n’y a pas lieu de s’effrayer; car Dieu disperse les membres de ceux qui t’assiègent. Tu les couvres de honte, Dieu les ayant rejetés.

But [some day] those people will become terrified, like they have never been terrified before, because God will cause those who are separated from him to die, and he will [disrespect them by] scattering their bones. They have rejected God, so he will cause them to be [defeated and] completely disgraced.

6 Ah! puisse venir de Sion le salut d’Israël! Quand Dieu ramènera les captifs de son peuple, Jacob jubilera, Israël sera dans la joie.

I wish/desire that someone from Jerusalem [MTY] would come and rescue the Israeli [people]! God, when you bless your people again, [all] the Israeli [people, all the descendants of] Jacob, will rejoice.
