Psaumes 37
1 De David. Ne jalouse pas les malfaiteurs, ne porte point envie aux ouvriers d’iniquité;
A Psalme of David. Fret not thy selfe because of the wicked men, neither be enuious for the euill doers.
2 car, comme l’herbe, rapidement ils sont fauchés, et comme le vert gazon ils se flétrissent.
For they shall soone bee cut downe like grasse, and shall wither as the greene herbe.
3 Aie confiance en l’Eternel et agis bien; ainsi tu habiteras le pays en cultivant la loyauté.
Trust thou in the Lord and do good: dwell in the land, and thou shalt be fed assuredly.
4 Cherche tes délices en l’Eternel, et il t’accordera les demandes de ton cœur.
And delite thy selfe in the Lord, and hee shall giue thee thine hearts desire.
5 Remets ta destinée à l’Eternel; confie-toi à lui: il fera le nécessaire.
Commit thy way vnto the Lord, and trust in him, and he shall bring it to passe.
6 Il fera éclater ta vertu comme la lumière, et ton bon droit comme le grand jour.
And he shall bring foorth thy righteousnes as the light, and thy iudgement as the noone day.
7 Repose-toi en silence sur l’Eternel, et espère en lui; ne jalouse pas celui qui voit réussir ses entreprises, l’homme qui accomplit de mauvais desseins.
Waite patiently vpon the Lord and hope in him: fret not thy selfe for him which prospereth in his way: nor for the man that bringeth his enterprises to passe.
8 Laisse tout dépit, renonce à la colère; ne t’emporte pas: certes ce serait mal agir.
Cease from anger, and leaue off wrath: fret not thy selfe also to doe euill.
9 Car les malfaiteurs seront exterminés, mais ceux qui espèrent en l’Eternel posséderont, eux, le pays.
For euill doers shalbe cut off, and they that wait vpon the Lord, they shall inherite the land.
10 Encore un peu, et le méchant ne sera plus; tu observeras sa place, il en aura disparu.
Therefore yet a litle while, and the wicked shall not appeare, and thou shalt looke after his place, and he shall not be found.
11 Tandis que les humbles auront le pays en partage et se délecteront dans une paix parfaite.
But meeke men shall possesse the earth, and shall haue their delite in the multitude of peace.
12 Le méchant complote contre le juste, et grince des dents contre lui.
The wicked practiseth against the iust, and gnasheth his teeth against him.
13 Le Seigneur rit de lui, car il voit venir le jour de son châtiment.
But the Lord shall laugh him to scorne: for he seeth, that his day is comming.
14 Les impies ont tiré l’épée et bandé leur arc, pour faire tomber le pauvre et le malheureux, pour immoler ceux dont la voie est droite.
The wicked haue drawen their sworde, and haue bent their bowe, to cast downe the poore and needie, and to slay such as be of vpright conuersation.
15 Leur épée entrera dans leur propre cœur, et leurs arcs seront brisés.
But their sword shall enter into their owne heart, and their bowes shalbe broken.
16 Mieux vaut la médiocrité du juste que l’opulence d’une foule de méchants
A small thing vnto the iust man is better, then great riches to the wicked and mightie.
17 car les bras des méchants seront brisés, mais l’Eternel est le soutien des justes.
For the armes of the wicked shall be broken: but the Lord vpholdeth the iust men.
18 L’Eternel protège les jours des hommes intègres, leur héritage est assuré à jamais.
The Lord knoweth the dayes of vpright men, and their inheritance shall bee perpetuall.
19 Ils ne seront pas confondus au temps de la calamité, aux jours de la famine ils seront rassasiés.
They shall not be confounded in the perilous time, and in the daies of famine they shall haue ynough.
20 Car les méchants périront, les ennemis de l’Eternel passeront comme la parure des prés; ils s’en vont en fumée, ils s’évanouissent.
But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the Lord shall be consumed as the fatte of lambes: euen with the smoke shall they consume away.
21 Le méchant emprunte et ne paie pas; le juste est compatissant et il donne.
The wicked boroweth and payeth not againe. but the righteous is mercifull, and giueth.
22 Car ceux que Dieu bénit posséderont la terre, et ceux qu’il maudit seront exterminés.
For such as be blessed of God, shall inherite the lande, and they that be cursed of him, shalbe cut off.
23 L’Eternel affermit le pas de l’homme intègre, et il prend plaisir à sa conduite.
The pathes of man are directed by the Lord: for he loueth his way.
24 S’Il tombe, il ne reste pas terrassé, car l’Éternel soutient sa main.
Though he fall, hee shall not be cast off: for the Lord putteth vnder his hand.
25 J’Ai été jeune et je suis devenu vieux: jamais je n’ai vu un juste délaissé, ni ses enfants obligés de mendier leur pain.
I haue beene yong, and am olde: yet I sawe neuer the righteous forsaken, nor his seede begging bread.
26 Tous les jours il fait l’aumône, il prête; et ses descendants deviennent une bénédiction.
But hee is euer mercifull and lendeth, and his seede enioyeth the blessing.
27 Fuis le mal et fais le bien: tu habiteras éternellement le pays.
Flee from euill and doe good, and dwell for euer.
28 Car le Seigneur aime le droit et il ne délaissera pas ses fidèles: ils sont protégés à jamais; mais la race des méchants sera exterminée.
For the Lord loueth iudgement, and forsaketh not his Saintes: they shall be preserued for euermore: but the seede of the wicked shall be cut off.
29 Les justes posséderont la terre, et ils y habiteront pour toujours.
The righteous men shall inherit the lande, and dwell therein for euer.
30 La bouche du juste profère la sagesse, et sa langue énonce le droit.
The mouth of the righteous will speake of wisedome, and his tongue will talke of iudgement.
31 La loi de son Dieu est dans son cœur, ses pas ne chancellent point.
For the Lawe of his God is in his heart, and his steppes shall not slide.
32 Le méchant fait le guet pour perdre le juste, il cherche à lui donner la mort.
The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
33 L’Eternel ne l’abandonne pas entre ses mains; il ne le laisse pas condamner quand il paraît en justice.
But the Lord wil not leaue him in his hand, nor condemne him, when he is iudged.
34 Tourne ton attente vers l’Eternel et garde sa voie, et il t’élèvera en te donnant la possession du pays; tu assisteras à l’extermination des méchants.
Waite thou on the Lord, and keepe his way, and he shall exalt thee, that thou shalt inherite the lande: when the wicked men shall perish, thou shalt see.
35 J’Ai vu le méchant triomphant et majestueux comme un arbre verdoyant;
I haue seene the wicked strong, and spreading himselfe like a greene bay tree.
36 il n’a fait que passer, et voici, il n’est plus; je l’ai cherché, impossible de le trouver.
Yet he passed away, and loe, he was gone, and I sought him, but he could not be founde.
37 Observe l’homme intègre, regarde le juste; certes il y a une postérité pour l’homme pacifique.
Marke the vpright man, and beholde the iust: for the end of that man is peace.
38 Les pécheurs, au contraire, seront détruits tous ensemble. La postérité des méchants sera exterminée.
But the transgressours shall be destroyed together, and the ende of the wicked shall bee cut off.
39 Le salut du juste vient de l’Eternel; il est leur citadelle au temps de la détresse.
But the saluation of the righteous men shalbe of the Lord: he shalbe their strength in the time of trouble.
40 L’Eternel les aide et les délivre, il les délivre des méchants, il les sauve, car ils se sont abrités en lui.
For the Lord shall helpe them, and deliuer them: he shall deliuer them from the wicked, and shall saue them, because they trust in him.
