Psaumes 21
1 Au chef des chantres. Psaume de David. Seigneur, le roi se réjouit de ta puissance; par ton secours, comme éclate son allégresse!
To the chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, Jehovah; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice.
2 Tu lui as accordé le désir de son cœur; le souhait sorti de ses lèvres, tu ne l’as pas repoussé.
Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. (Selah)
3 Oui, tu es venu à lui avec des bénédictions de bonheur, tu as posé sur sa tête une couronne d’or fin.
For thou hast met him with the blessings of goodness; thou hast set a crown of pure gold on his head.
4 Il t’a demandé le don de la vie: tu le lui as octroyé; ce sont de longs jours se suivant sans fin.
He asked life of thee; thou gavest [it] him, length of days for ever and ever.
5 Grande est sa gloire, grâce à ton appui; tu lui as prodigué splendeur et magnificence.
His glory is great through thy salvation; majesty and splendour hast thou laid upon him.
6 Oui, tu as fait de lui à jamais une source de bénédictions; par ta présence, tu l’as mis au comble de la joie.
For thou hast made him to be blessings for ever; thou hast filled him with joy by thy countenance.
7 C’Est que le roi a confiance en l’Eternel, et, par la bienveillance du Très-Haut, il ne chancelle pas.
For the king confideth in Jehovah: and through the loving-kindness of the Most High he shall not be moved.
8 Ta main atteindra tous tes ennemis, ta droite atteindra ceux qui te haïssent.
Thy hand shall find out all thine enemies; thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.
9 A l’heure de ta colère, tu les traiteras tel un four ardent; l’Eternel les anéantira dans son courroux, et le feu les dévorera.
Thou shalt make them as a fiery furnace in the time of thy presence; Jehovah shall swallow them up in his anger, and the fire shall devour them:
10 Tu feras disparaître leurs rejetons de la terre, et leur postérité du milieu des hommes.
Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
11 Car ils ont machiné le mal contre toi, ils ont conçu des desseins perfides, mais ont été frappés d’impuissance.
For they intended evil against thee; they imagined a mischievous device, which they could not execute.
12 Certes, tu les réduiras à tourner le dos: avec les cordes de ton arc tu viseras leur face.
For thou wilt make them turn their back; thou wilt make ready thy bowstring against their face.
13 Lève-toi, ô Seigneur, dans ta force; nous chanterons, nous célébrerons ta puissance.
Be thou exalted, Jehovah, in thine own strength: we will sing and celebrate thy power.
