1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse dans le désert de Sinaï, la seconde année de leur sortie du pays d’Egypte, le premier mois, en disant:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the second year after their coming out of the land of Egypt, in the first month, saying,

2 "Que les enfants d’Israël fassent la Pâque au temps fixé.

That the children of Israel shall prepare the passover-lamb at its appointed season.

3 C’Est le quatorzième jour de ce mois, vers le soir, temps fixé pour elle, que vous devez la faire; d’après tous ses statuts et toutes ses règles vous l’exécuterez."

On the fourteenth day of this month, toward evening, shall ye prepare it at its appointed season: according to all its ordinances, and according to all its prescribed rules, shall ye prepare it.

4 Moïse parla aux enfants d’Israël, pour qu’ils fissent la Pâque.

And Moses spoke unto the children of Israel, that they should prepare the passover-lamb.

5 Et ils firent la Pâque au premier mois, le quatorzième jour du mois, vers le soir, dans le désert de Sinaï; exactement comme l’Éternel l’avait prescrit à Moïse, ainsi firent les enfants d’Israël.

And they prepared the passover-lamb on the fourteenth day of the first month toward evening in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the Lord had commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

6 Or, il y eut des hommes qui se trouvaient souillés par des cadavres humains, et qui ne purent faire la Pâque ce jour-là. Ils se présentèrent devant Moïse et devant Aaron, ce même jour,

But there were certain men, who had been defiled by the dead body of a man, and they could not prepare the passover-lamb on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

7 et ces hommes lui dirent: "Nous sommes souillés par des cadavres humains; mais pourquoi serions-nous privés d’offrir le sacrifice du Seigneur en son temps, seuls entre les enfants d’Israël?"

And these men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore shall we be kept back, so as not to offer the sacrifice of the Lord at its appointed season in the midst of the [other] children of Israel?

8 Moïse leur répondit: "Attendez que j’apprenne ce que l’Éternel statuera à votre égard."

And Moses said unto them, Wait ye, and I will hear what the Lord will command concerning you.

9 Et l’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

10 "Parle ainsi aux enfants d’Israël: Si quelqu’un se trouve souillé par un cadavre, ou sur une route éloignée, parmi vous ou vos descendants, et qu’il veuille faire la Pâque en l’honneur de l’Éternel,

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man whatever should be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be on a distant journey, among you or your posterity: yet shall he prepare the passover-lamb unto the Lord;

11 c’est au deuxième mois, le quatorzième jour, vers le soir, qu’ils la feront; ils la mangeront avec des azymes et des herbes amères,

In the second month on the fourteenth day toward evening shall they prepare it, with unleavened bread and bitter herbs shall they eat it.

12 n’en laisseront rien pour le lendemain, et n’en briseront pas un seul os: ils suivront, à son égard, tout le rite de la Pâque.

They shall leave none of it until morning, and no bone shall they break on it: according to the whole ordinance of the passover-lamb shall they prepare it.

13 Pour l’homme qui, étant pur et n’ayant pas été en voyage, se serait néanmoins abstenu de faire la Pâque, cette personne sera retranchée de son peuple: puisqu’il n’a pas offert en son temps le sacrifice du Seigneur, cet homme portera sa faute.

But the man that is clean, and is not on a journey, and forbeareth to prepare the passover-lamb, even that same soul shall be cut off from his people; because the offering of the Lord hath he not brought at its appointed season, his sin shall that man bear.

14 Et si un étranger habite avec vous et veut faire la Pâque en l’honneur de l’Éternel, il devra se conformer au rite de la Pâque et à son institution: même loi vous régira, tant l’étranger que l’indigène."

And if a stranger sojourn among you, and will prepare the passover-lamb unto the Lord: according to the ordinance of the passover-lamb, and according to its prescribed rule, so shall he prepare it; one statute shall be for you, both for the stranger, and for the native born in the land.

15 Or, le jour où l’on eut érigé le tabernacle, la nuée couvrit le tabernacle, la tente du statut; et le soir il y avait, au-dessus du tabernacle, comme un météore de feu persistant jusqu’au matin.

And on the day that the tabernacle was reared up the cloud covered the tabernacle of the tent of the testimony: and in the evening there was upon the tabernacle as it were the appearance of fire, until morning.

16 Il en fut ainsi constamment: la nuée le couvrait le jour, et le météore de feu la nuit.

So it used to be always: the cloud covered it [by day], and the appearance of fire by night.

17 Chaque fois que la nuée s’élevait de dessus la tente, aussitôt les enfants d’Israël levaient le camp; puis, à l’endroit où se fixait la nuée, là s’arrêtaient les enfants d’Israël.

And as the cloud was taken up from the tabernacle, then after that did the children of Israel journey forward: and in the place where the cloud halted, there did the children of Israel encamp.

18 C’Est sur l’ordre du Seigneur que partaient les enfants d’Israël, sur l’ordre du Seigneur qu’ils s’arrêtaient: tant que la nuée restait fixée sur le tabernacle, ils demeuraient campés.

At the order of the Lord did the children of Israel journey forward, and at the order of the Lord they encamped: all the days that the cloud abode upon the tabernacle did they remain in camp.

19 Lors même que la nuée stationnait longtemps au-dessus du tabernacle, les enfants d’Israël, fidèles à l’observance du Seigneur, ne partaient point.

And when the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle many days, then did the children of Israel keep the charge of the Lord, and journeyed not forward.

20 Parfois la nuée ne restait qu’un certain nombre de jours sur le tabernacle: ils avaient campé à la voix de l’Éternel, à la voix de l’Éternel ils partaient.

And at times it was, that the cloud remained but a few days upon the tabernacle; at the order of the Lord they abode in camp, and at the order of the Lord they journeyed forward.

21 Parfois la nuée demeurait du soir jusqu’au matin, et quand elle se retirait le matin on partait; ou bien un jour et une nuit, et quand elle se retirait, l’on partait.

And at times it was, that the cloud remained from evening until morning; and when the cloud was taken up in the morning, they journeyed forward; or a day and a night, and when the cloud was taken up, they journeyed forward;

22 Ou bien deux jours, ou un mois, ou une année entière, selon que la nuée prolongeait sa station sur le tabernacle, les enfants d’Israël restaient campés sans partir; puis, quand elle se retirait, ils levaient le camp.

Or two days, or a month, or a year; so long as the cloud tarried upon the tabernacle, to remain thereon, did the children of Israel remain encamped, and journeyed not forward; but when it was taken up, they journeyed forward.

23 A la voix de l’Éternel ils faisaient halte, à sa voix ils décampaient, gardant ainsi l’observance de l’Éternel, d’après l’ordre divin transmis par Moïse.

At the order of the Lord they remained in camp, and at the order of the Lord they journeyed forward: the charge of the Lord they kept, at the order of the Lord by the hand of Moses.
