1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

2 "Donne aux enfants d’Israël les instructions suivantes: Comme vous allez entrer dans ce pays de Canaan, voici quel territoire vous tombera en partage: le pays de Canaan selon ses limites.

Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, when ye come into the land of Canaan, shall this be the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance: The land of Canaan according to its boundaries.

3 Vous aurez pour côté méridional le désert de Cîn, sur la lisière d’Edom; cette limite du midi commencera pour vous à la pointe orientale de la mer Salée.

And the southern side shall be unto you from the wilderness of Zin along by the boundary of Edom, and your southern border shall commence at the outmost edge of the Salt Sea on its east side.

4 Puis la limite s’infléchira, par le midi, vers la montée d’Akrabbîm, atteindra Cîn et aboutira au midi de Kadêch-Barnéa; sortira vers Haçar-Addar, ira jusqu’à Açmôn;

And the border shall turn for you from the south of the ascent of 'Akrabbim, and pass on to Zin; and its terminating points shall be to the south of Kadesh-barnea', and shall go on to Chazar-addar, and pass on to Azmon;

5 d’Açmôn, la ligne déviera vers le torrent d’Egypte, et se terminera à la mer.

And the border shall turn from 'Azmon unto the river of Egypt, and its terminating points shall be at the sea.

6 Pour la frontière occidentale, c’est la grande mer qui vous en tiendra lieu: telle sera pour vous la frontière occidentale.

And as the western border, shall ye have the Great Sea for a border: this shall be your western border.

7 Voici quelles seront vos bornes au nord: vous tracerez une ligne de la grande mer à Hor-la-Montagne;

And this shall be unto you the northern border: from the Great Sea shall ye mark out for you [the boundary to] mount Hor;

8 de Hor-la-Montagne vous la continuerez jusqu’à Hémath, d’où la démarcation aboutira à Cedad;

From mount Hor shall ye mark out [the boundary] unto the entrance of Chamath; and the terminations of the border shall be toward Zedad;

9 puis elle atteindra Zifrôn, et aura pour terme Haçar-Enân: telles seront vos bornes au nord.

And the border shall go on to Ziphron, and its terminating points shall be at Chazar'-enan: this shall be unto you the northern border.

10 Pour vos bornes à l’orient, vous tirerez une ligne de Haçar-Hênân à Chefâm;

And ye shall turn yourselves to the eastern border, from Chazar-'enan to Shepham;

11 de Chefâm, cette ligne descendra jusqu’à Ribla, en passant à l’orient d’Ayîn; puis, descendant encore, elle suivra le bord oriental de la mer de Kinnéreth,

And the boundary shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, to the eastward of 'Ayin; and the boundary shall descend, and shall touch upon the coast of the sea of Kinnereth, eastward;

12 descendra encore le long du Jourdain, et viendra aboutir à la mer Salée. Tel sera votre territoire, quant aux limites qui doivent le circonscrire."

And the border shall go down to the Jordan, and its terminating points shall be at the Salt Sea: this shall be your land after its boundaries round about.

13 Moïse transmit cet ordre aux enfants d’Israël, en disant: "C’Est là le territoire que vous vous partagerez au sort, et que l’Éternel a ordonné d’attribuer aux neuf tribus et demie.

And Moses commanded the children of Israel, saying, This is the land which ye shall divide among yourselves by lot, which the Lord hath commanded to give unto the nine tribes, and to the half tribe.

14 Car, pour la tribu des descendants de Ruben selon leurs familles paternelles, la tribu des descendants de Gad selon les leurs, et la demi-tribu de Manassé, elles ont déjà reçu leur lot:

For the tribe of the children of Reuben according to their family divisions, and the tribe of the children of Gad according to their family divisions, have received, —and the half of the tribe of Menasseh have received their inheritance;

15 ces deux tribus et demie ont reçu leur lot sur la rive du Jourdain faisant face à Jéricho, du côté de l’orient."

The two tribes and the half tribe have received their inheritance on this side of the Jordan opposite Jericho eastward, toward the rising of the sun.

16 L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying,

17 "Voici les noms des hommes qui doivent prendre, pour vous, possession du pays: Eléazar le pontife, et Josué, fils de Noun;

These are the names of the men who shall parcel out unto you the land: Elazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun.

18 plus un chef, un chef par tribu, que vous chargerez de prendre possession du pays.

And one prince each from every tribe shall ye take to parcel out the land.

19 Voici les noms de ces hommes: pour la tribu de Juda: Caleb, fils de Yefounné;

And these are the names of the men: Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Yephunneh:

20 pour la tribu des enfants de Siméon: Samuel, fils d’Ammihoud;

And of the tribe of the children of Simeon, Shemuel the son of 'Ammihud;

21 pour la tribu de Benjamin: Elidad, fils de Kislôn;

Of the tribe of Benjamin, Elidad the son of Kisslon;

22 pour la tribu des enfants de Dan, le chef sera Bouki, fils de Yogli;

And of the tribe of the children of Dan the prince, Bukki the son of Yogli;

23 quant aux descendants de Joseph, la tribu des enfants de Manassé aura pour chef Hanniël, fils d’Efod,

Of the children of Joseph, for the tribe of the children of Menasseh the prince, Channiel the son of Ephod;

24 et celles des enfants d’Ephraïm, Kemouêl, fils de Chiftân.

And of the tribe of the children of Ephraim the prince, Kemuel the son of Shiphtan;

25 Chef pour la tribu des enfants de Zabulon: Eliçafân, fils de Parnakh;

And of the tribe of the children of Zebulun the prince, Elizaphan the son of Parnach;

26 chef pour la tribu des enfants d’Issachar: Paltïel, fils d’Azzân;

And of the tribe of the children of Issachar the prince, Paltiel the son of 'Azzan;

27 chef pour la tribu des enfants d’Aser: Ahihoud, fils de Chelomi;

And of the tribe of the children of Asher the prince, Achihud the son of Shelomi;

28 et pour la tribu des enfants de Nephtali, le chef sera Pedahel, fils d’Ammihoud."

And of the tribe of the children of Naphtali the prince, Pedahel the son of 'Ammihud.

29 Tels sont ceux à qui l’Éternel donna mission de répartir entre les enfants d’Israël, le pays de Canaan.

These are they whom the Lord hath commanded to divide out the inheritance unto the children of Israel in the land of Canaan.
