Néhémie 7
1 Lorsque le mur eut été reconstruit et que j’en eus posé les portes, les portiers, les chantres et les Lévites furent installés à leur poste.
Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
2 Je confiai la garde de Jérusalem à mon frère Hanani et à Hanania, gouverneur du fort, car celui-ci passait pour un homme loyal et craignant Dieu comme peu de gens.
that I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the governor of the castle, charge over Jerusalem; for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many.
3 Je leur dis: "Les portes de Jérusalem ne devront pas s’ouvrir avant que le soleil chauffe; et pendant que les gardes seront encore là, qu’on ferme les battants et qu’on les verrouille. Qu’ensuite on pose les gardes des habitants de Jérusalem, chacun à son poste et chacun vis-à-vis de sa maison."
And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand [on guard], let them shut the doors, and bar ye them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one [to be] over against his house.
4 Or, la ville avait une grande étendue, et la population y était peu nombreuse, et toutes les maisons n’étaient pas rebâties.
Now the city was wide and large; but the people were few therein, and the houses were not builded.
5 Dieu m’inspira la pensée de rassembler les nobles, les chefs et le peuple pour établir leur filiation; je découvris le registre généalogique de ceux qui étaient montés en premier, et j’y trouvai consigné ce qui suit:
And my God put into my heart to gather together the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found the book of the genealogy of them that came up at the first, and I found written therein:
6 "Voici les gens de la province, parmi les captifs exilés que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, avait déportés à Babylone, qui partirent pour retourner à Jérusalem et en Judée, chacun dans sa ville.
These are the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and that returned unto Jerusalem and to Judah, every one unto his city;
7 Ils revinrent avec Zorobabel, Yêchoua, Nehémia, Azaria, Raamia, Nahamani, Mardochée, Bilchân, Mispéret, Bigvaï, Nehoum et Baana. Ainsi se chiffraient les hommes du peuple d’Israël:
who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:
8 Les enfants de Paroch: deux mille cent soixante-douze;
The children of Parosh, two thousand a hundred and seventy and two.
9 les enfants de Chefatia: trois cent soixante-douze;
The children of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy and two.
10 les enfants d’Arah: six cent cinquante-deux;
The children of Arah, six hundred fifty and two.
11 les enfants de Pahat-Moab, de la famille de Yêchoua et Joab: deux mille huit cent dix-huit;
The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred [and] eighteen.
12 les enfants d’Elam: mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;
The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
13 les enfants de Zattou: huit cent quarante-cinq;
The children of Zattu, eight hundred forty and five.
14 les enfants de Zaccaï: sept cent soixante;
The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and threescore.
15 les enfants de Binnouï: six cent quarante-huit;
The children of Binnui, six hundred forty and eight.
16 les enfants de Bêbaï: six cent vingt-huit;
The children of Bebai, six hundred twenty and eight.
17 les enfants d’Azgad: deux mille trois cent vingt-deux;
The children of Azgad, two thousand three hundred twenty and two.
18 les enfants d’Ado-nikâm: six cent soixante-sept;
The children of Adonikam, six hundred threescore and seven.
19 les enfants de Bigvaï: deux mille soixante-sept;
The children of Bigvai, two thousand threescore and seven.
20 les enfants d’Adin: six cent cinquante-cinq;
The children of Adin, six hundred fifty and five.
21 les enfants d’Atêr de la famille de Yehiskia: quatre-vingt-dix-huit;
The children of Ater, of Hezekiah, ninety and eight.
22 les enfants de Hachoum: trois cent vingt-huit;
The children of Hashum, three hundred twenty and eight.
23 les enfants de Bêçai: trois cent vingt-quatre;
The children of Bezai, three hundred twenty and four.
24 les enfants de Harif: cent douze;
The children of Hariph, a hundred and twelve.
25 les enfants de Gabaon quatre-vingt-quinze;
The children of Gibeon, ninety and five.
26 les gens de Bethléem et de Netofa: cent quatre-vingt-huit;
The men of Beth-lehem and Netophah, a hundred fourscore and eight.
27 les gens d’Anatot: cent vingt-huit
The men of Anathoth, a hundred twenty and eight.
28 les gens de Beth-Azmaveth: quarante-deux;
The men of Beth-azmaveth, forty and two.
29 les gens de Kiriath-Yearim, Kefira et Beêrot: sept cent quarante-trois;
The men of Kiriath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred forty and three.
30 les gens de Rama et Ghéba: six cent vingt-et-un;
The men of Ramah and Geba, six hundred twenty and one.
31 les gens de Mikhmas: cent vingt-deux;
The men of Michmas, a hundred and twenty and two.
32 les gens de Béthel et Aï: cent vingt-trois;
The men of Beth-el and Ai, a hundred twenty and three.
33 les gens d’un autre Nebo: cinquante-deux;
The men of the other Nebo, fifty and two.
34 les enfants d’un autre Elam: mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;
The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty and four.
35 les enfants de Harîm: trois cent vingt;
The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.
36 les enfants de Jéricho: trois cent quarante-cinq;
The children of Jericho, three hundred forty and five.
37 les enfants de Lod, Hadid et Ono: sept cent vingt et un;
The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred twenty and one.
38 les enfants de Senaa: trois mille neuf cent trente.
The children of Senaah, three thousand nine hundred and thirty.
39 Les prêtres: les fils de Yedaïa, de la famille de Yêchoua: neuf cent soixante-treize;
The priests: The children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred seventy and three.
40 les enfants d’Immêr: mille cinquante-deux;
The children of Immer, a thousand fifty and two.
41 les enfants de Pachhour: mille deux cent quarante-sept;
The children of Pashhur, a thousand two hundred forty and seven.
42 les enfants de Harîm: mille dix-sept.
The children of Harim, a thousand [and] seventeen.
43 Les Lévites: les enfants de Yêchoua et Kadmiêl, descendants de Hodeva: soixante-quatorze.
The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, of the children of Hodevah, seventy and four.
44 Les chantres: les fils d’Assaph: cent quarante-huit.
The singers: the children of Asaph, a hundred forty and eight.
45 Les portiers: les enfants de Challoum, les enfants d’Atêr, les enfants de Talmôn, les enfants d’Akkoub, les enfants de Hatita, les enfants de Chobaï: cent trente-huit.
The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, a hundred thirty and eight.
46 Les serviteurs du temple: les enfants de Ciha, les enfants de Hassoufa, les enfants de Tabbaot,
The Nethinim: the children of Ziha, the children of Hasupha, the children of Tabbaoth,
47 les enfants de Kêros, les enfants de Sis, les enfants de Padôn,
the children of Keros, the children of Sia, the children of Padon,
48 les enfants de Lebana, les enfants de Hagaba, les enfants de Salmaï,
the children of Lebana, the children of Hagaba, the children of Salmai,
49 les enfants de Hanân, les enfants de Ghiddêl, les enfants de Gahar,
the children of Hanan, the children of Giddel, the children of Gahar,
50 les enfants de Reaïa, les enfants de Recin, les enfants de Nekoda,
the children of Reaiah, the children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda,
51 les enfants de Gazzâm, les enfants d’Ouzza, les enfants de Passêah,
the children of Gazzam, the children of Uzza, the children of Paseah.
52 les enfants de Bessaï, les enfants de Meounîm, les enfants de Nefichsîm,
The children of Besai, the children of Meunim, the children of Nephushesim,
53 les enfants de Bakbouk, les enfants de Hakoufa, les enfants de Harhour,
the children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur,
54 les enfants de Baçlit, les enfants de Mehida, les enfants de Harcha,
the children of Bazlith, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,
55 les enfants de Barkôs, les enfants de Sissera, les enfants de Témah,
the children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Temah,
56 les enfants de Neciah, les enfants de Hatifa.
the children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.
57 Les descendants des esclaves de Salomon: les enfants de Sotaï, les enfants de Soféret, les enfants de Perida;
The children of Solomon’s servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Perida,
58 les enfants de Yaala, les enfants de Darkôn, les enfants de Ghiddêl;
the children of Jaala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,
59 les enfants de Chefatia, les enfants de Hattil, les enfants de Pokhéret-Hacebaïm, les enfants d’Amôn.
the children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the children of Amon.
60 Tous les serviteurs du temple et les descendants des esclaves de Salomon s’élevaient au nombre de trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
All the Nethinim, and the children of Solomon’s servants, were three hundred ninety and two.
61 Et voici ceux qui partirent de Têl-Mélah, de Têl-Harcha, Keroub, Addôn, Immêr, et qui ne purent indiquer leur famille et leur filiation pour établir qu’ils faisaient partie d’Israël:
And these were they that went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses, nor their seed, whether they were of Israel:
62 les enfants de Delaïa, les enfants de Tobia, les enfants de Nekoda, au nombre de six cent quarante-deux.
The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred forty and two.
63 Et parmi les prêtres: les enfants de Hobaïa, les enfants de Hakoç, les enfants de Barzillaï, qui avait pris pour femme une des filles de Barzillaï, le Galaadite, et en avait adopté le nom.
And of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.
64 Ceux-là recherchèrent leurs tables de généalogie, mais elles ne purent être retrouvées; aussi furent-ils déchus du sacerdoce.
These sought their register [among] those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they deemed polluted and put from the priesthood.
65 Le gouverneur leur défendit de manger des choses éminemment saintes, jusqu’au jour où officierait de nouveau un prêtre portant les Ourîm et les Toumîm.
And the governor said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66 Toute la communauté réunie comptait quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante individus,
The whole assembly together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
67 sans compter leurs esclaves et leurs servantes, au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept, auxquels s’ajoutaient des chanteurs et des chanteuses, au nombre de deux cent quarante-cinq.
besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
69 quatre cent trente-cinq chameaux, six mille sept cent vingt ânes.
[their] camels, four hundred thirty and five; [their] asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
70 Une partie des chefs de famille firent des dons pour les travaux; le gouverneur versa au trésor mille dariques d’or, cinquante bassins, cinq cent trente tuniques de prêtres.
And some from among the heads of fathers’ [houses] gave unto the work. The governor gave to the treasury a thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.
71 Un certain nombre de chefs de famille donnèrent au trésor des travaux: en or, vingt mille dariques, et en argent, deux mille deux cents mines.
And some of the heads of fathers’ [houses] gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.
72 Et ce que donna le reste du peuple s’éleva, en or, à vingt mille dariques, en argent, à deux mille mines, et, en tuniques de prêtres, à soixante-sept.
And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and threescore and seven priests’ garments.
73 Les prêtres, les Lévites, les portiers, les chanteurs, une partie du peuple, les serviteurs du temple et tout Israël s’établirent dans leurs villes respectives. Lorsque le septième mois arriva, les enfants d’Israël étaient installés dans leurs villes."
So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinim, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities. And when the seventh month was come, the children of Israel were in their cities.
