Michée 6
1 Ecoutez donc ce que dit le Seigneur: "Lève-toi, plaide ma cause devant les montagnes, que les collines entendent ta voix!"
Hear, I pray you, what, Yahweh, is saying, —arise thou, maintain thy controversy before the mountains, and let the hills hear thy voice: —
2 Montagnes, écoutez le litige du Seigneur, et vous géants, fondements de la terre! Car l’Eternel est en procès avec son peuple, il est en discussion avec Israël:
Hear, ye mountains, the controversy of Yahweh, and ye lasting rocks, the foundations of the earth, —for, a controversy, hath Yahweh, with his people, and, with Israel, will he dispute.
3 "O mon peuple! Que t’ai-je fait? Comment te suis-je devenu à charge? Expose tes griefs contre moi.
O my people! what have I done to thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? Testify thou against me!
4 Est-ce parce que je t’ai tiré du pays d’Egypte et délivré de la maison d’esclavage? Parce que je t’ai donné pour guides Moïse, Aaron et Miriam?
For I brought thee up out of the land of Egypt, and, out of the house of slaves, I ransomed thee, —and I sent before thee, Moses, Aaron and Miriam.
5 O mon peuple! Rappelle-toi seulement ce que méditait Balak, roi de Moab, et ce que lui répondit Balaam, fils de Beor; de Chittîm à Ghilgal, tu as pu connaître les bontés de l’Eternel!"
O my people! remember, I pray you, what Balak king of Moab, counseled, and what Balaam son of Beor, answered him, —from the Acacias as far as Gilgal, that ye may know the righteousness of Yahweh.
6 "Mais quel hommage offrirai-je au Seigneur? Comment montrerai-je ma soumission au Dieu suprême? Me présenterai-je devant lui avec des holocaustes, avec des veaux âgés d’un an?
Wherewith, shall I come before Yahweh? bow myself to God on high? Shall I come before him with ascending-sacrifice? with calves of a year old?
7 Le Seigneur prendra-t-il plaisir à des hécatombes de béliers, à des torrents d’huile par myriades? Donnerai-je mon premier-né pour ma faute, le fruit de mes entrailles comme rançon expiatoire de ma vie?"
Will Yahweh, be pleased, with thousands of rams? with myriads of torrents of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression? the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 Homme, on t’a dit ce qui est bien, ce que le Seigneur demande de toi: rien que de pratiquer la justice, d’aimer la bonté et de marcher humblement avec ton Dieu!
He hath told thee, O son of earth, what is good, —what then is, Yahweh, seeking of thee, but, to do justice, to delight in lovingkindness, and humbly to walk with thy God?
9 La voix de l’Eternel interpelle la ville, et l’homme de vérité reconnaît ton nom. Ecoutez la menace du châtiment et celui qui le décrète!
The voice of Yahweh, to the city, crieth out, With safety for him who regardeth his name, —Hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.
10 Se peut-il que la maison du méchant contienne encore des trésors mal acquis et ces mesures si odieusement amoindries?
Even yet, are there, in the house of the lawless one, the treasures of lawlessness, —and the scant measure—accurst?
11 Puis-je être sans reproche avec des balances fausses, avec une bourse aux poids trompeurs?
Shall I be pure with lawless balances? or with bag of deceitful weights?
12 N’Est-ce pas que ses richards se gorgent de rapines, que ses habitants débitent des mensonges et que la langue, dans leur bouche, n’est que perfidie?
For, her rich men, are full of violence, and, her inhabitants, have spoken falsehood, —and, their tongue, is deceitful in their mouth.
13 Aussi vais-je, moi, te rendre malade à force de coups et te ruiner pour tes péchés.
Moreover also, I, have made thee sick with smiting thee, —laying thee waste because of thy sins.
14 Tu mangeras et ne seras pas rassasié, la nourriture produira un affaissement dans tes membres. Ce que tu mettras en sûreté, tu ne le sauveras point, et ce que tu pourras sauver, je le livrerai au glaive.
Thou, shalt eat—and not be satisfied, but be shrunk with hunger within thee, —Though thou remove, yet shalt thou not set in safety, and, what thou dost set in safety, to the sword, will I deliver.
15 Tu sèmeras et ne moissonneras pas, tu presseras l’olive et tu ne te frotteras pas d’huile, le moût, et tu ne boiras pas de vin.
Thou, shalt sow, but shalt not reap, —thou, shalt tread the olive, but shalt not anoint thee with oil, also the grape, but shalt not drink the wine.
16 C’Est qu’on pratique les mœurs d’Omri et toutes les coutumes de la maison d’Achab; c’est que vous marchez dans leurs traditions; en sorte que je ferai de toi une ruine et de tes habitants un sujet de sarcasme: vous serez chargés de l’opprobre de mon peuple.
For strictly observed are the statutes of Omri, and every doing of the house of Ahab, and ye have walked in their counsels, —to the end I may give thee up to desolation, and her inhabitants to hissing, that, the reproach of peoples, ye may bear.
