Juges 17
1 Il y avait dans la montagne d’Ephraïm un homme nommé Micah.
And there was a man of mount Ephraim, and his name was Michaias.
2 Il dit un jour à sa mère: "Les onze cents pièces d’argent qu’on t’a dérobées, vol dont tu as maudit l’auteur, et cela en ma présence, sache que cet argent est en ma possession; c’est moi qui l’ai pris." La mère répondit: "Que mon fils soit béni du Seigneur!"
And he said to his mother, The eleven hundred pieces of silver which you took of yourself, and [about which] you cursed me, and spoke in my ears, behold, the silver [is] with me; I took it: and his mother said, Blessed [be] my son of the Lord.
3 Il rendit les onze cents pièces d’argent à sa mère, qui lui dit: "J’Avais destiné cet argent à l’Eternel, voulant le remettre à mon fils pour qu’on en fît une image taillée avec métal; je te prie donc de le reprendre."
And he restored the eleven hundred pieces of silver to his mother; and his mother said, I had wholly consecrated the money to the Lord out of my hand for my son, to make a graven and a molten [image], and now I will restore it to you.
4 Mais il restitua l’argent à sa mère. Celle-ci prit deux cents pièces d’argent et les donna à l’orfèvre, qui en fit une image garnie de métal, laquelle fut placée dans la maison de Micah.
But he returned the silver to his mother, and his mother took two hundred pieces of silver, and gave them to a silversmith, and he made it a graven and a molten image; and it was in the house of Michaias.
5 Cet homme, Micah, possédant une maison de Dieu, fit aussi fabriquer un éphod et des pénates; puis il consacra l’un de ses fils et l’employa comme prêtre.
And the house of Michaias [was] to him the house of God, and he made an ephod and theraphin, and he consecrated one of his sons, and he became to him a priest.
6 En ce temps-là, il n’y avait point de roi en Israël, et chacun agissait à sa guise.
And in those days there was no king in Israel; every man did that which was right in his own eyes.
7 Il y avait alors un jeune homme de Bethléem-en-Juda, de la famille de Juda; il était lévite et séjournait là.
And there was a young man in Bethleem of the tribe of Juda, and he [was] a Levite, and he was sojourning there.
8 Cet homme quitta sa ville, Bethléem-en-Juda, pour s’établir là où il trouverait à vivre; dans le cours de son voyage, il arriva à la montagne d’Ephraïm, près de la maison de Micah.
And the man departed from Bethleem the city of Juda to sojourn in whatever place he might find; and he came as far as mount Ephraim, and to the house of Michaias to accomplish his journey.
9 Micah lui demanda: "D’Où viens-tu?" Il répondit: "Je suis lévite, de Bethléem-en-Juda, et je voyage pour m’établir où je pourrai."
And Michaias said to him, Whence come you? and he said to him, I am a Levite of Bethleem Juda, and I go to sojourn in any place I may find.
10 "Eh bien! lui dit Micah, demeure avec moi, sers-moi de père et de prêtre, et je te donnerai dix pièces d’argent par an, l’habillement complet et la nourriture." Et le lévite y alla.
And Michaias said to him, Dwell with me, and be to me a father and a priest; and I will give you ten pieces of silver by the year, and a change of raiment, and your living.
11 Il consentit donc à demeurer chez cet homme, qui traita le jeune lévite comme un de ses enfants.
And the Levite went and began to dwell with the man; and the young man was to him as one of his sons.
12 Micah installa le lévite, de sorte que ce jeune homme lui servît de prêtre; et il resta dans la maison de Micah.
And Michaias consecrated the Levite, and he became to him a priest, and he was in the house of Michaias.
13 Alors Micah dit: "Je suis assuré maintenant que l’Eternel me fera du bien, puisque j’ai pu avoir un lévite pour prêtre."
And Michaias said, Now I know that the Lord will do me good, because a Levite has become my priest.
