Jonas 4
1 Jonas en conçut un grand déplaisir et se mit en colère.
And it was displeasing to Jonah displeasure great and it burned to him.
2 Et il adressa à l’Eternel cette prière: "Hélas! Seigneur, n’est-ce pas là ce que je disais étant encore dans mon pays? Aussi m’étais-je empressé de fuir à Tarsis. Car je savais que tu es un Dieu clément et miséricordieux, plein de longanimité et de bienveillance, prompt à revenir sur les menaces.
And he prayed to Yahweh and he said I beg you O Yahweh ¿ not [was] this word my until was I on own land my there-fore I did [the] first time to flee Tarshish towards that I knew that you [are] a God gracious and compassionate long of anger and great of covenant loyalty and [who] relents on evil.
3 Et maintenant, ô Eternel, de grâce, ôte-moi la vie; car la mort pour moi est préférable à la vie."
And therefore O Yahweh take please life my from me for [is] good death my more than life my.
4 L’Eternel répondit: "Est-ce à bon droit que tu t’affliges?"
And he said Yahweh ¿ rightly does it burn to you.
5 Jonas, étant sorti de Ninive, s’était établi à l’orient de la ville; là il s’était dressé une cabane sous laquelle il s’était assis à l’ombre, dans l’attente de ce qui se passerait dans la ville.
And he went out Jonah from the city and he sat from east of the city and he made for himself there a shelter and he sat under it in the shade until that he will see what? will it be in the city.
6 Or, le Seigneur Dieu fit pousser un ricin qui s’éleva au-dessus de Jonas pour ombrager sa tête et le consoler de sa douleur. Jonas ressentit une grande joie au sujet du ricin.
And he appointed Yahweh God a plant and it went up - over Jonah to be shade over head his to deliver him from distress his and he rejoiced Jonah on the plant a joy great.
7 Mais dès l’aube du lendemain, ce même Dieu suscita un ver qui rongea le ricin, de sorte qu’il se dessécha.
And he appointed God a worm when came up the dawn to the next day and it attacked the plant and it withered.
8 Puis, quand le soleil fut levé, Dieu fit souffler un vent d’Est étouffant, et le soleil darda ses feux sur la tête de Jonas, qui en fut accablé. Alors il se souhaita la mort à lui-même, et il dit: "La mort vaudrait mieux pour moi que la vie."
And it was - when arose the sun and he appointed God a wind an east wind hot and it struck the sun on [the] head of Jonah and he became faint and he asked life his to die and he said [is] good death my more than life my.
9 Et Dieu dit à Jonas: "Est-ce à bon droit que tu te chagrines à cause de ce ricin?" Il répondit: "Je m’en chagrine à bon droit, au point de désirer la mort."
And he said God to Jonah ¿ rightly does it burn to you on the plant and he said rightly it burns to me to death.
10 L’Eternel répliqua: "Quoi! tu as souci de ce ricin qui ne t’a coûté aucune peine, que tu n’as point fait pousser, qu’une nuit a vu naître, qu’une nuit a vu périr:
And he said Yahweh you you had compassion on the plant which not you had toiled in it and not you had made grow it that a son of a night it was and a son of a night it perished.
11 et moi je n’épargnerais pas Ninive, cette grande ville, qui renferme plus de douze myriades d’êtres humains, incapables de distinguer leur main droite de leur main gauche, et un bétail considérable!"
And I not will I have compassion? on Nineveh the city great which there in it [are] many more than two [plus] ten ten thousand person[s] who not he distinguishes between right [hand] his and left his and livestock much.
