Jonas 2
1 Dans les entrailles mêmes de ce poisson, Jonas adressa une prière à l’Eternel, son Dieu,
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly.
2 et il dit: "Dans ma détresse j’ai invoqué l’Eternel, il m’a répondu: du sein du Cheol je t’ai imploré, tu as entendu ma voix. (Sheol h7585)
And he said: I called out of mine affliction unto the LORD, and He answered me; out of the belly of the nether-world cried I, and Thou heardest my voice. (Sheol h7585)
3 Le flot me ballottait au cœur des mers, et les courants m’enveloppaient; toutes tes vagues et toutes tes lames passaient sur moi.
For Thou didst cast me into the depth, in the heart of the seas, and the flood was round about me; all Thy waves and Thy billows passed over me.
4 Déjà je me disais: "Je suis repoussé loin de tes regards!" Mais non, je veux contempler encore ton temple saint.
And I said: 'I am cast out from before Thine eyes'; yet I will look again toward Thy holy temple.
5 Les eaux m’investissaient, menaçant ma vie, j’étais cerné par l’Abîme, les algues étreignaient ma tête.
The waters compassed me about, even to the soul; the deep was round about me; the weeds were wrapped about my head.
6 Précipité jusqu’à la racine des montagnes, la terre me fermait ses barrières pour toujours… Tu as sauvé ma vie de la perdition, Eternel, mon Dieu.
I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars closed upon me for ever; yet hast Thou brought up my life from the pit, O LORD my God.
7 Quand mon âme, dans mon sein, allait défaillir, je me suis ressouvenu de l’Eternel, et ma prière a monté vers toi, vers ton sanctuaire auguste.
When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; and my prayer came in unto Thee, into Thy holy temple.
8 Ceux qui révèrent des idoles menteuses, ceux-là font bon marché de leur salut.
They that regard lying vanities forsake their own mercy.
9 Pour moi, c’est en te rendant hautement grâce, que je t’offrirai des sacrifices; j’accomplirai les vœux que j’ai prononcés: le secours vient du Seigneur!"
But I will sacrifice unto Thee with the voice of thanksgiving; that which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is of the LORD.
10 L’Eternel ordonna au poisson de rejeter Jonas sur la côte.
And the LORD spoke unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
