Job 25

1 Bildad de Chouha prit la parole et dit:

Then Baldad the Sauchite answered and said,

2 A lui appartiennent l’empire et la redoutable puissance; IL établit la paix dans ses demeures sublimes.

What beginning or fear is his—even he that makes all things in the highest?

3 Ses milices peuvent-elles se compter? Sur qui ne se lève pas sa lumière?

For let none think that there is a respite for robbers: and upon whom will there not come a snare from him?

4 Comment donc le mortel serait-il juste devant Dieu? Comment le fils de la femme serait-il innocent?

For how shall a mortal be just before the Lord? or who that is born of a woman shall purify himself?

5 Eh quoi! L’Éclat de la lune elle-même se ternit, et les étoiles ne sont pas sans tache à ses yeux.

If he gives an order to the moon, then it shines not; and the stars are not pure before him.

6 A plus forte raison en est-il ainsi du mortel qui n’est que pourriture, du fils d’Adam qui n’est qu’un vermisseau!

But alas! man is corruption, and the son of man a worm.
