Jérémie 27
1 Au début du règne de Joïakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, la révélation suivante fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l’Eternel.
In the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, came this word to Jeremiah from Jehovah.
2 Voici ce que me dit l’Eternel: "Fais-toi des liens et des jougs, pose-les sur ton cou;
Thus said Jehovah to me: Make thee bands and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,
3 puis, tu les enverras au roi d’Edom, au roi de Moab, au roi des Ammonites, au roi de Tyr et au roi de Sidon par l’entremise des ambassadeurs qui sont venus à Jérusalem auprès de Sédécias, roi de Juda.
and send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Zidon, by the hands of the messengers that are come to Jerusalem, to Zedekiah, king of Judah.
4 Tu leur recommanderas de dire à leurs maîtres: Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cébaoth, Dieu d’Israël: Vous direz ceci à vos maîtres:
And command them to say to their masters, Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Thus shall ye say to your masters:
5 C’Est moi qui, par ma grande puissance et mon bras étendu, ai créé la terre, les hommes et les animaux qui couvrent la terre, et je l’ai donnée à qui il me plaisait.
The earth, and the men and the beasts which are upon the earth, have I made by my great power and my outstretched arm, and I give it to whomsoever it seemeth meet to me.
6 Or, maintenant je livre tous ces pays au pouvoir de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon serviteur; même les animaux des champs, je les lui livre pour qu’ils le servent.
And now I give all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, my servant; the beasts of the field also I give him to serve him.
7 Tous les peuples le serviront, lui, son fils et son petit-fils, jusqu’à ce que pour son pays aussi arrive le jour où des peuples puissants et de grands rois le réduiront en servitude.
And all nations shall serve him, and his son, and his son's son, until the time of his land, even his, shall come, and then shall many nations and great kings make him their servant.
8 S’Il est un peuple, un royaume qui refuse de se soumettre à lui, Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, et d’engager son cou dans le joug du roi de Babylone, ce peuple, je le châtierai par le glaive, la famine et la peste, dit l’Eternel, jusqu’à ce que je l’aie anéanti par sa main.
And the nation and the kingdom that will not serve him, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, and put their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, —with the sword and with famine and with pestilence will I punish that nation, saith Jehovah, until I have consumed them by his hand.
9 Vous donc, n’écoutez ni vos prophètes, ni vos devins, ni vos songes, ni vos augures, ni vos magiciens qui, eux, vous disent: Vous ne serez point asservis au roi de Babylone!
Therefore hearken ye not to your prophets, and your diviners, and your dreamers, your soothsayers, and your sorcerers, who say to you, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon.
10 Car c’est des mensonges qu’ils vous prophétisent, qui auront pour conséquence que vous serez éloignés de votre pays, que je vous bannirai et consommerai votre ruine.
For they prophesy a lie to you, to remove you far from your land, and that I should drive you out, and that ye should perish.
11 Tandis que le peuple qui engagera son cou dans le joug du roi de Babylone et qui se soumettra à lui, je le maintiendrai, dit l’Eternel, dans son pays, qu’il pourra cultiver et habiter.
But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith Jehovah, and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
12 A Sédécias aussi, roi de Juda, j’ai adressé des discours exactement pareils, disant: Engagez votre cou dans le joug du roi de Babylone, soumettez-vous à lui et à son peuple, et vous vivrez.
And to Zedekiah, king of Judah, also, spake I according to all these words, and said: Bring your necks under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.
13 Pourquoi voudriez-vous périr, toi et ton peuple, par le glaive, la famine et la peste, comme Dieu l’a prédit au peuple qui refuserait soumission au roi de Babylone?
Why will ye die, thou and thy people, by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence, as Jehovah hath spoken concerning the nation that will not serve the king of Babylon?
14 N’Écoutez donc pas les paroles des prophètes vous disant: Ne vous soumettez point au roi de Babylone! car c’est des mensonges qu’ils vous prophétisent.
Therefore hearken not to the prophets, that say to you, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon; for they prophesy a lie to you.
15 Car je ne les ai chargés d’aucune mission, dit l’Eternel; mais eux prophétisent en mon nom mensongèrement, de façon à ce que je vous bannisse et que vous périssiez, vous et les prophètes qui vous adressent ces prophéties.
For I have not sent them, saith Jehovah; but they prophesy a lie in my name, that I may drive you out, and that ye may perish, ye and the prophets that prophesy to you.
16 Aux prêtres aussi et à tout ce peuple j’ai parlé en ces termes: Voici ce que dit l’Eternel: N’Écoutez point les discours de vos prophètes qui vous annoncent ceci: Bientôt maintenant les vases du Temple de l’Eternel seront rapportés de Babylone; car c’est des mensonges qu’ils vous débitent.
To the priests, also, and to all the people; spake I, saying, Thus saith Jehovah: Hearken not to the words of your prophets who prophesy to you, and say, Behold the vessels of the house of Jehovah shall be brought back from Babylon now shortly; for they prophesy a lie to you.
17 Ne les écoutez point! Servez plutôt le roi de Babylone et vous aurez la vie sauve! Pourquoi cette ville deviendrait-elle une ruine?
Hearken ye not to them; serve the king of Babylon, and live! Why should this city become a desolation?
18 Si ce sont réellement des prophètes et si la parole de Dieu se communique à eux, eh bien! qu’ils sollicitent donc l’Eternel-Cebaot, afin que les vases qui restent encore dans le Temple de l’Eternel, dans le palais du roi de Juda et à Jérusalem, ne soient pas aussi transportés à Babylone.
But if they be indeed prophets, and if the word of Jehovah be with them, let them now make intercession to Jehovah of hosts, that the vessels which are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah, and in Jerusalem, may not go to Babylon.
19 Car voici ce que dit l’Eternel-Cebaot au sujet des colonnes, de la Mer, des supports et des autres vases qui sont restés dans cette ville,
For thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that are let in this city,
20 que Nabuchodonosor n’a pas enlevés quand il exila leconia, fils de Joïakim, roi de Juda, de Jérusalem à Babylone, avec tous les grands de Juda et de Jérusalem;
which Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, took not, when he carried away captive Jeconiah, the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, from Jerusalem to Babylon, with all the nobles of Judah and Jerusalem;
21 oui, voici ce que dit l’Eternel-Cebaot, Dieu d’Israël, au sujet des vases qui sont restés dans la maison de l’Eternel, dans le palais du roi de Juda et à Jérusalem:
yea, thus saith Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, concerning the vessels that are left in the house of Jehovah, and in the house of the king of Judah and of Jerusalem:
22 Ils seront transportés à Babylone et y resteront jusqu’au jour où je me souviendrai d’eux, dit l’Eternel, pour les faire rapporter et réintégrer en ces lieux.
They shall be carried to Babylon, and there shall they be until the day when I shall visit them, saith Jehovah. Then will I bring them up, and restore them to this place.
