Isaïe 7
1 II arriva, du temps d’Achaz, fils de Jotham, fils d’Ouzia, roi de Juda, que Recîn, roi de Syrie, de concert avec Pékah, fils de Remaliahou, roi d’Israël, marcha sur Jérusalem pour l’attaquer, mais ne put triompher d’elle.
In the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah [Praised], Rezin the king of Syria [Elevated], and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel [God prevails], went up to Jerusalem [City of peace] to war against it, but could not prevail against it.
2 Quand la maison de David apprit cette nouvelle: "Le Syrien est venu camper avec Ephraïm," son cœur et le cœur de son peuple en frissonnèrent, comme les arbres d’une forêt frissonnent sous le vent.
David [Beloved]’s house was told, “Syria [Elevated] is allied with Ephraim [Fruit].” His heart trembled, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the forest tremble with the wind.
3 L’Eternel dit alors à Isaïe: "Rends-toi au-devant d’Achaz, toi et Chear-Yachoub, ton fils, vers l’extrémité du canal de la Piscine supérieure, sur la chaussée qui conduit au champ du Foulon.
Then Adonai said to Isaiah [Salvation of Yah], “Go out now to meet Ahaz, you, and Shearjashub your son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller’s field.
4 Et tu lui diras: N’Aie garde de perdre ton calme, sois sans crainte et ne laisse pas défaillir ton cœur devant ces deux bouts de tisons fumeux devant la colère de Recin et d’Aram, et du fils de Remaliahou.
Tell him, ‘Be careful, and keep calm. Don’t be afraid, neither let your heart be faint because of these two tails of smoking torches, for the fierce anger of Rezin and Syria [Elevated], and of the son of Remaliah.
5 Puisque Aram a formé contre toi de mauvais desseins, ainsi qu’Ephraïm et le fils de Remaliahou, et qu’ils ont dit:
Because Syria [Elevated], Ephraim [Fruit], and the son of Remaliah, have plotted evil against you, saying,
6 "Marchons contre Juda, réduisons-le à l’extrémité, forçons-le de se rendre à nous, puis nous lui imposerons comme roi le fils de Tabeal,"
“Let’s go up against Judah [Praised], and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king within it, even the son of Tabeel.”
7 ainsi a parlé le Seigneur-Elohim: Cela ne s’accomplira ni ne sera!"
This is what the Lord Adonai says: “It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”
8 Car la tête d’Aram, c’est Damas, et la tète de Damas, c’est Recin; (or dans soixante-cinq ans, Ephraïrn, déchu, cessera d’être une nation).
For the head of Syria [Elevated] is Damascus [Bucket of blood], and the head of Damascus [Bucket of blood] is Rezin; and within sixty-five years Ephraim [Fruit] shall be broken in pieces, so that it shall not be a people;
9 Et la tête d’Ephraïm, c’est Samarie, et la tête de Samarie, c’est le fils de Remaliahou. Si vous manquez de confiance, vous manquerez d’avenir."
and the head of Ephraim [Fruit] is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If you will not believe, surely you shall not be established.’”
10 L’Eternel, continuant de parler à Achaz, lui dit:
Adonai spoke again to Ahaz, saying,
11 "Demande un signe de la part de l’Eternel, ton Dieu, que ta demande s’applique aux régions d’en bas ou aux sphères supérieures. (Sheol h7585)
“Ask a sign of Adonai your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.” (Sheol h7585)
12 Je n’en demanderai pas, répliqua Achaz: je ne veux pas mettre l’Eternel à l’épreuve."
But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, neither will I tempt Adonai.”
13 Alors le prophète reprit: "Ecoutez-donc, maison de David! Est-ce trop peu pour vous de lasser les hommes que vous vouliez encore lasser mon Dieu?
He said, “Sh'ma ·Hear obey· now, house of David [Beloved]. Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?
14 Ah certes! Le Seigneur vous donne de lui-même un signe: Voici, la jeune femme est devenue enceinte, elle va mettre au monde un fils, qu’elle appellera Immanouel.
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name 'Immanu El [God is with us].
15 Il se nourrira de crème et de miel, jusqu’à ce qu’il ait du discernement pour repousser le mal et choisir le bien.
He shall eat butter and honey when he knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
16 Or, avant même que l’enfant sache repousser le mal et choisir le bien, la région dont les deux rois te causent des angoisses sera devenue une solitude,
For before the child knows to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land whose two kings you abhor shall be forsaken.
17 le Seigneur suscitera contre toi, contre ton peuple et la maison de ton père des jours tels qu’il n’y en a pas eu depuis qu’Ephraïm s’est séparé de Juda et cela grâce au roi d’Assyrie.
Adonai will bring on you, on your people, and on your father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim [Fruit] departed from Judah [Praised]; even the king of Assyria [Level plain].
18 En ce temps, le Seigneur appellera, par un sifflement, les moustiques qui sont sur les bords des canaux de l’Egypte et les frelons qui vivent en Assyrie;
It will happen in that day that Adonai will whistle for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt [Abode of slavery], and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria [Level plain].
19 ils viendront s’abattre tous ensemble sur les vallons incultes, dans les fissures des rochers, dans tous les buissons et toutes les broussailles.
They shall come, and shall all rest in the desolate valleys, in the clefts of the rocks, on all thorn hedges, and on all pastures.
20 En ce jour, le Seigneur, au moyen du rasoir pris en location sur les bords du fleuve par l’entremise du roi d’Assyrie coupera les cheveux de la tête et les poils des jambes; il fera tomber la barbe elle-même.
In that day the Lord will shave with a razor that is hired in the parts beyond the River, even with the king of Assyria [Level plain], the head and the hair of the feet; and it shall also consume the beard.
21 En ces temps, chaque individu pourra entretenir une génisse et deux brebis,
It shall happen in that day that a man shall keep alive a young cow, and two sheep;
22 et il en recueillera une telle quantité de lait qu’il se nourrira de crème. Oui, quiconque aura eu la vie sauve dans le pays pourra se nourrir de crème et de miel.
and it shall happen, that because of the abundance of milk which they shall give he shall eat butter: for everyone will eat butter and honey that is left within the land.
23 Il arrivera encore, à la même époque, que tout terrain portant mille pieds de vigne d’une valeur de mille sicles, sera envahi par les ronces et les épines.
It will happen in that day that every place where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silver shekels [25 lb; 11.34 kg], shall be for briers and thorns.
24 On ne s’y rendra qu’armé de flèches et de carquois, tant le sol tout entier sera devenu la proie des ronces et des chardons.
People will go there with arrows and with bow, because all the land will be briers and thorns.
25 Quant aux montagnes qu’on laboure au moyen de la bêche, on ne les abordera même pas, par crainte des ronces et des chardons; on y lâchera les bœufs, et elles seront foulées par les brebis.
All the hills that were cultivated with the hoe, you shall not come there for fear of briers and thorns; but it shall be for the sending out of oxen, and for the treading of sheep.”
