Isaïe 30
1 Malheur, enfants rebelles, dit le Seigneur, vous qui machinez des plans en dehors de moi, contractez des alliances contre mon gré et accumulez ainsi faute sur faute,
Wo to the rebellious children, sayth the Lord, that take counsell, but not of me, and couer with a couering, but not by my spirit, that they may lay sinne vpon sinne:
2 vous qui vous mettez en route pour descendre en Egypte, sans avoir demandé mon avis, avec l’espoir de trouver une force dans l’appui de Pharaon et un abri à l’ombre des Egyptiens!
Which walke forth to goe downe into Egypt (and haue not asked at my mouth) to strengthen them selues with the strength of Pharaoh, and trust in the shadowe of Egypt.
3 Mais l’appui de Pharaon sera votre honte, et l’abri à l’ombre des Egyptiens votre déshonneur.
But the strength of Pharaoh shalbe your shame, and the trust in the shadow of Egypt your confusion.
4 C’Est que déjà ses princes sont à Çoân, et ses messagers ont atteint Hanès.
For his princes were at Zoan, and his Ambassadours came vnto Hanes.
5 Mais tous seront déçus au sujet d’un peuple qui ne leur sera d’aucun secours, qui ne sera ni un appui ni une force, mais seulement une cause de déboire et même d’opprobre.
They shalbe all ashamed of the people that cannot profite them, nor helpe nor doe them good, but shalbe a shame and also a reproche.
6 Oracle à propos des animaux du Midi: À travers un pays de détresse et d’angoisse, où vivent lions et lionnes, aspics et dragons volants, ils transportent sur la croupe des ânons leurs richesses, et sur le dos des chameaux leurs trésors, chez un peuple qui n’est d’aucun secours.
The burden of the beasts of the South, in a land of trouble and anguish, from whence shall come the yong and olde lyon, the viper and fierie flying serpent against them that shall beare their riches vpon the shoulders of the coltes, and their treasures vpon the bounches of the camels, to a people that cannot profite.
7 L’Appui de l’Egypte, en effet, est vain et illusoire; aussi je dis de cette nation: "Ils font beaucoup de bruit, mais ils restent cois."
For the Egyptians are vanitie, and they shall helpe in vaine. Therefore haue I cried vnto her, Their strength is to sit still.
8 Maintenant donc rentre, mets cela par écrit sur une tablette en leur présence, fixe-le sur un livre pour durer jusqu’au jour le plus reculé, toujours et toujours.
Now go, and write it before them in a table, and note it in a booke that it may be for the last day for euer and euer:
9 Car c’est un peuple indocile, des enfants déloyaux, des enfants qui refusent d’entendre l’enseignement du Seigneur;
That it is a rebellious people, lying children, and children that would not heare the law of the Lord.
10 Qui disent aux voyants: "Ne voyez point!" et aux prophètes: "Ne nous révélez pas de vérités! Débitez-nous des choses agréables; prophétisez de quoi nourrir nos illusions!
Which say vnto the Seers, See not: and to the Prophets, Prophecie not vnto vs right things: but speake flattering things vnto vs: prophecie errours.
11 Eloignez-vous du chemin, détournez-vous de la route, laissez-nous en paix avec le Saint d’Israël!"
Depart out of the way: go aside out of the path: cause the holy one of Israel to cease from vs.
12 C’Est pourquoi le Saint d’Israël parle ainsi: "Puisque vous avez méprisé mes exhortations, placé votre confiance et cherché un appui dans la fraude et le mensonge,
Therefoe thus saith the holy one of Israel, Because you haue cast off this worde, and trust in violence, and wickednes, and stay thereupon,
13 ce crime sera pour vous tel qu’une lézarde menaçante, apparaissant dans un mur élevé qui s’écroule brusquement, en un instant,
Therefore this iniquitie shalbe vnto you as a breach that falleth, or a swelling in an hie wall, whose breaking commeth suddenly in a moment.
14 et qui tombe en ruines comme on brise un vase de potiers, en l’écrasant sans pitié, de telle sorte que dans ses débris on ne peut même ramasser un tesson pour prendre du feu au foyer ou puiser de l’eau à la citerne."
And the breaking thereof is like the breaking of a potters pot, which is broken without pitie, and in the breaking thereof is not found a sheard to take fire out of the hearth, or to take water out of the pit.
15 Car ainsi avait parlé le Seigneur, le Dieu éternel, le Saint d’Israël: "C’Est la paix et la douceur qui seront votre salut, la quiétude et la confiance qui seront votre force," mais vous vous y êtes refusés.
For thus sayd the Lord God, the Holy one of Israel, In rest and quietnes shall ye be saued: in quietnes and in confidence shall be your strength, but ye would not.
16 Vous disiez: "Non! Nous voulons galoper sur des chevaux," eh bien! Vous galoperez pour fuir "nous voulons monter des coursiers rapides," eh bien! Ils seront rapides, ceux qui courront après vous.
For ye haue sayd, No, but we wil flee away vpon horses. Therefore shall ye flee. We will ride vpon the swiftest. Therefore shall your persecuters be swifter.
17 Au nombre de mille, vous fuirez devant la menace d’un seul, devant la menace de cinq, de façon à vous trouver isolés comme un mât sur le sommet de la montagne, comme une bannière sur la hauteur.
A thousand as one shall flee at the rebuke of one: at the rebuke of fiue shall ye flee, till ye be left as a ship maste vpon the top of a mountaine, and as a beaken vpon an hill.
18 Pourtant, le Seigneur ne demande qu’à vous rendre sa faveur; pourtant, il se lèvera pour vous prendre en pitié, car le Seigneur est un Dieu de justice: heureux ceux qui espèrent en lui!
Yet therefore will the Lord waite, that he may haue mercy vpon you, and therefore wil he be exalted, that hee may haue compassion vpon you: for the Lord is the God of iudgement. Blessed are all they that waite for him.
19 Oui, ô peuple de Sion, qui habites dans Jérusalem, tu ne pleureras pas toujours: il accueillera avec bienveillance ta voix suppliante; dès qu’il l’entendra, il te répondra.
Surely a people shall dwell in Zion, and in Ierusalem: thou shalt weepe no more: he wil certainly haue mercy vpon thee at the voyce of thy crye: when he heareth thee, he wil answere thee.
20 Le Seigneur vous accordera du pain dans la détresse et de l’eau dans la pénurie; ton guide ne se dérobera plus à ton regard, tes yeux pourront voir ton guide,
And when the Lord hath giuen you the bread of aduersitie, and the water of affliction, thy raine shalbe no more kept backe, but thine eyes shall see thy raine.
21 et tes oreilles entendre ces paroles qui seront prononcées derrière toi "Voici la route! Suivez-la, que vous preniez à droite ou que vous preniez à gauche."
And thine eares shall heare a worde behind thee, saying, This is the way, walke ye in it, when thou turnest to the right hand, and when thou turnest to the left.
22 Alors vous déclarerez impurs le revêtement de vos idoles d’argent et l’enveloppe de vos statues d’or, vous les rejetterez au loin comme des immondices: "Hors d’ici!" leur direz-vous.
And ye shall pollute the couering of the images of siluer, and the riche ornament of thine images of golde, and cast them away as a menstruous cloth, and thou shalt say vnto it, Get thee hence.
23 Et Dieu dispensera la pluie à la semence que vous confierez au sol le pain que produira la terre sera substantiel et savoureux, tes troupeaux paîtront en ce jour dans de vastes prairies.
Then shall hee giue raine vnto thy seede, when thou shalt sowe the ground, and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shalbe fat and as oyle: in that day shall thy cattell be fed in large pastures.
24 Les bœufs et les ânes, employés aux travaux des champs, mangeront un fourrage assaisonné de sel et qu’on aura vanné avec la pelle et le van.
The oxen also and the yong asses, that till the ground, shall eate cleane prouender, which is winowed with the shoouel and with the fanne.
25 Sur toute haute montagne et sur toute colline élevée, il y aura des ruisseaux, des eaux courantes, au jour du grand massacre, lors de la chute des tours fortifiées.
And vpon euery hie mountaine, and vpon euery hie hill shall there be riuers and streames of waters, in the day of the great slaughter, when the towers shall fall.
26 La lune, alors, brillera du même éclat que le soleil, et la lumière du soleil sera sept fois plus vive, comme la lumière des sept jours, à l’époque où l’Eternel pansera les blessures de son peuple et guérira les meurtrissures qui l’ont atteint.
Moreouer, the light of the moone shall be as the light of the sunne, and the light of the sunne shalbe seuen folde, and like the light of seuen dayes in the day that the Lord shall binde vp the breach of his people, and heale the stroke of their wound.
27 Voici la majesté de l’Eternel qui s’avance de loin: ardente est sa colère, pesant le tourbillon de fumée qui s’élève, ses lèvres sont chargées de courroux, sa langue est comme un feu dévorant,
Beholde, the Name of the Lord commeth from farre, his face is burning, and the burden thereof is heauy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue is as a deuouring fire.
28 son souffle comme un torrent impétueux qui monte jusqu’au cou: il va secouer les peuples dans le van de la destruction et poser entre les mâchoires des peuples un frein qui les dirige de travers.
And his spirit is as a riuer that ouerfloweth vp to the necke: it deuideth asunder, to fanne the nations with the fanne of vanitie, and there shall be a bridle to cause them to erre in the chawes of the people.
29 Parmi vous retentiront des chants, comme dans la nuit consacrée à une fête; vous aurez le cœur joyeux comme les pèlerins qui, au son de la flûte, se rendent sur la montagne de l’Eternel auprès du rocher d’Israël.
But there shall be a song vnto you as in the night, when solemne feast is kept: and gladnes of heart, as he that commeth with a pipe to goe vnto the mount of the Lord, to the mightie one of Israel.
30 Dieu fera éclater sa voix majestueuse et sentir la pesanteur de son bras qui s’abat, dans un déchaînement de colère, dans l’embrasement d’un feu dévorant, accompagné de tempêtes, de pluies violentes et de grêlons.
And the Lord shall cause his glorious voyce to be heard, and shall declare the lighting downe of his arme with the anger of his countenance, and flame of a deuouring fire, with scattering and tempest, and hailestones.
31 Aussi à la voix de l’Eternel, Achour sera pris de terreur, tandis que Dieu le frappera de son bâton.
For with the voyce of the Lord shall Asshur be destroyed, which smote with the rod.
32 Et chaque fois que retombera ce bâton prédestiné, que l’Eternel brandit contre lui, on entendra des tambourins et des harpes. Ce sont des combats acharnés que lui livrera Dieu.
And in euery place that ye staffe shall passe, it shall cleaue fast, which the Lord shall lay vpon him with tabrets and harpes: and with battels, and lifting vp of hands shall he fight against it.
33 Car dès longtemps le Tofet est tout prêt; il a été disposé, lui aussi, profond et large, pour le roi, avec son bûcher allumé, où le bois abonde et que fait flamber le souffle de l’Eternel, tel qu’un torrent de soufre.
For Tophet is prepared of olde: it is euen prepared for the King: hee hath made it deepe and large: the burning thereof is fire and much wood: the breath of the Lord, like a riuer of brimstone, doeth kindle it.
