Isaïe 3
1 Voyez, l’Eternel-Cebaot enlève à Jérusalem et à Juda tout appui et tout soutien, toute ressource en pain et toute ressource en eau;
For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
2 héros et hommes de guerre, juges et prophètes, devins et anciens;
The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 chefs militaires et gens considérés, conseillers ainsi qu’artisans experts et habiles enchanteurs.
The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 Je leur donnerai des jeunes gens comme maîtres, et des écervelés domineront sur eux.
And I will give children [to be] their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 Chez ce peuple, l’un usera de sévices contre l’autre, chacun contre chacun; le jouvenceau sera arrogant envers le vieillard, l’homme de rien envers le plus respectable.
And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 Que si quelqu’un exerce une pression sur un parent dans la maison paternelle en disant: "Tu possèdes un manteau, consens donc à être notre chef, à soutenir de ta main cet édifice chancelant;"
When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, [saying], Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and [let] this ruin [be] under thy hand:
7 celui-ci protestera en ce jour par ces paroles: "Non, je ne puis être votre sauveur, alors que, dans ma maison, il n’y a ni pain ni vêtement; ne m’érigez pas en chef de ce peuple"
In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house [is] neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
8 Oui, Jérusalem a trébuché, Juda est tombé; car leurs paroles et leurs actes sont dirigés contre l’Eternel et bravent ses regards augustes.
For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings [are] against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 L’Impudence de leur visage témoigne contre eux, ils affichent leur crime à l’exemple de Sodome et ne dissimulent rien. Malheur à eux! Ils se sont préparés eux-mêmes la ruine.
The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide [it] not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Annoncez au juste qu’il sera heureux et jouira du fruit de ses œuvres.
Say ye to the righteous, that [it shall be] well [with him: ] for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Mais hélas! le malheur atteindra le méchant, car il sera traité selon l’œuvre de ses mains.
Woe unto the wicked! [it shall be] ill [with him: ] for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 Mon peuple, des enfants le pressurent, et des femmes le tyrannisent; ô mon peuple, ce sont tes guides qui t’égarent et qui détruisent la trace de tes routes.
[As for] my people, children [are] their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause [thee] to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 L’Eternel s’avance pour faire justice; il se présente pour juger les peuples;
The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
14 il vient demander raison aux anciens de son peuple et à ses princes: "C’Est vous qui avez dévoré la vigne, entassé dans vos maisons les dépouilles des pauvres.
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor [is] in your houses.
15 De quel droit écrasez-vous mon peuple et broyez-vous la face des indigents?" Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Eternel-Cebaot.
What mean ye [that] ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.
16 L’Eternel dit encore: "Puisque les filles de Sion sont si arrogantes, s’avançant le cou dressé, lançant des regards provocants, puisqu’elles marchent à pas mesurés et font sonner les clochettes de leurs pieds,
Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing [as] they go, and making a tinkling with their feet:
17 le Seigneur dépouillera la tête des filles de Sion et mettra à nu leur honte."
Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
18 En ce jour, le Seigneur supprimera le luxe des clochettes, les filets et les croissants;
In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of [their] tinkling ornaments [about their feet], and [their] cauls, and [their] round tires like the moon,
19 les pendants d’oreilles, les bracelets et les voiles;
The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,
20 les diadèmes, les chaînettes des pieds, les ceintures, les boîtes à parfums et les amulettes;
The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings,
21 les bagues et les anneaux du nez;
The rings, and nose jewels,
22 les vêtements de fête, les manteaux, les écharpes et les sachets;
The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins,
23 les miroirs, les fines tuniques, les turbans et les surtouts…
The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.
24 Au lieu de parfums il y aura de la pourriture; au lieu de ceinture, une corde; au lieu de nattes bien tressées, de la calvitie; au lieu d’un large manteau, un cilice; des stigmates de brûlure remplaceront la beauté.
And it shall come to pass, [that] instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle a rent; and instead of well set hair baldness; and instead of a stomacher a girding of sackcloth; [and] burning instead of beauty.
25 Tes hommes de guerre tomberont sous le glaive et tes vaillants succomberont dans les combats.
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
26 Une morne tristesse envahira les portes de la ville; Sion, complètement dépouillée, s’assoira à terre.
And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she [being] desolate shall sit upon the ground.
