1 Dans la deuxième année du roi Darius, le sixième mois, le premier jour du mois, la parole de l’Eternel fut adressée par l’organe du prophète Haggaï à Zorobabel, fils de Chaltiël, gouverneur de Judée, et à Josué, fils de Joçadak, le grand-prêtre, en ces termes:
In the second year of Daryavesh the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of Jehovah came by Haggai, the prophet, to Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,
2 "Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot, à savoir: Ce peuple dit: Le temps n’est pas venu encore de rebâtir le temple du Seigneur!"
"This is what Jehovah of hosts says: These people say, 'The time hasn't yet come, the time for Jehovah's house to be built.'"
3 La parole de l’Eternel arriva par l’organe du prophète Haggaï en ces termes:
Then the word of Jehovah came by Haggai, the prophet, saying,
4 "Le temps est-il donc venu pour vous d’habiter vos maisons lambrissées, alors que ce temple est en ruines!
"Is it a time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house lies waste?
5 Or, maintenant, ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: Appliquez votre attention à votre manière d’agir!
Now therefore this is what Jehovah of hosts says: Consider your ways.
6 Vous avez semé beaucoup pour récolter peu, vous mangez sans être rassasiés, vous buvez sans avoir tout votre saoûl, vous mettez des vêtements, mais ils ne vous donnent pas de chaleur, et celui qui se loue pour un salaire gagne le salaire pour une bourse trouée."
You have sown much, and bring in little. You eat, but you do not have enough. You drink, but you aren't filled with drink. You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm, and he who earns wages earns wages to put them into a bag with holes in it."
7 Ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot: "Appliquez votre attention à votre manière d’agir!
This is what Jehovah of hosts says: "Consider your ways.
8 Montez sur la montagne, rapportez-en du bois et bâtissez le temple: j’y prendrai plaisir et je m’en trouverai honoré, dit le Seigneur.
Go up to the mountain, bring wood, and build the house. I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified," says Jehovah.
9 Vous comptiez sur une moisson abondante, et elle s’est réduite à peu de chose; quand vous l’avez rentrée dans votre maison, j’ai soufflé dessus. Pourquoi cela? dit l’Eternel-Cebaot. C’Est à cause de ma maison qui est en ruines, tandis que vous courez tous dans votre maison à vous.
"You looked for much, and, look, it came to little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says Jehovah of hosts, "Because of my house that lies waste, while each of you is busy with his own house.
10 C’Est pourquoi les cieux ont retenu leur rosée à vos dépens, et la terre a refusé ses produits.
Therefore for your sake the heavens withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.
11 J’Ai appelé la sécheresse sur les champs et sur les montagnes, sur le froment, le moût et l’huile, sur tout ce que fait pousser le sol; de même sur les hommes et les bêtes, sur tous les produits du travail de vos mains."
I called for a drought on the land, and on the mountains, and on the grain, and on the new wine, on the oil, and on all what the ground produces, and on men, and on livestock, and on all the labor of the hands."
12 Zorobabel, fils de Chaltiël, Josué, fils de Joçadak, le grand-prêtre, et tout le reste du peuple écoutèrent la voix de l’Eternel, leur Dieu, et les paroles du prophète Haggaï, dont l’avait chargé l’Eternel, leur Dieu, et le peuple témoigna sa vénération au Seigneur.
Then Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of Jehovah, their God, and the words of Haggai, the prophet, as Jehovah, their God, had sent him; and the people feared Jehovah.
13 Or, Haggaï, envoyé de l’Eternel, en vertu de sa mission divine, parla au peuple en ces termes: "Je serai avec vous" dit l’Eternel.
Then Haggai, Jehovah's messenger, spoke Jehovah's message to the people, saying, "I am with you," says Jehovah.
14 Et l’Eternel excita le zèle de Zorobabel, fils de Chaltiël, gouverneur de Judée, le zèle de Josué, fils de Joçadak, le grand-prêtre, et le zèle de tout le reste du peuple. Ils vinrent et se mirent à l’œuvre dans la maison de l’Eternel-Cebaot, leur Dieu.
Jehovah stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of Jehovah of hosts, their God,
15 C’Était le vingt-quatrième jour du sixième mois, dans la deuxième année du roi Darius.
in the twenty-fourth day of the month, in the sixth month, in the second year of Daryavesh the king.
