Genèse 47

1 Joseph vint annoncer la nouvelle à Pharaon, en disant "Mon père et mes frères, avec leur menu et leur gros bétail et tout ce qu’ils possèdent, sont venus du pays de Canaan; et ils se trouvent dans la province de Gessen."

Then came Ioseph and tolde Pharaoh, and sayde, My father, and my brethren, and their sheepe, and their cattell, and all that they haue, are come out of the land of Canaan, and behold, they are in the land of Goshen.

2 Puis il prit une partie de ses frères, cinq hommes et il les mit en présence de Pharaon.

And Ioseph tooke part of his brethren, euen fiue men, and presented them vnto Pharaoh.

3 Pharaon dit à ses frères: "Quelles sont vos occupations?" Ils répondirent à Pharaon: "Tes serviteurs sont une famille de bergers, de père en fils."

Then Pharaoh said vnto his brethren, What is your trade? And they answered Pharaoh, Thy seruants are shepheards, both we and our fathers.

4 Et ils dirent à Pharaon: "Nous sommes venus émigrer dans ce pays, parce que le pâturage manque aux troupeaux de tes serviteurs, la disette étant grande dans le pays de Canaan. Donc, permets à tes serviteurs d’habiter dans la province de Gessen."

They sayde moreouer vnto Pharaoh, For to soiourne in ye lande are we come: for thy seruants haue no pasture for their sheepe, so sore is ye famine in the lande of Canaan. Nowe therefore, we pray thee, let thy seruants dwel in the land of Goshen.

5 Pharaon dit à Joseph: "Ton père et tes frères sont venus auprès de toi.

Then spake Pharaoh to Ioseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come vnto thee.

6 Le pays d’Égypte est mis à ta disposition; établis, dans sa meilleure province, ton père et tes frères. Qu’ils habitent la terre de Gessen et si tu reconnais qu’il y ait parmi eux des hommes de mérite, nomme-les inspecteurs des bestiaux de mon domaine."

The lande of Egypt is before thee: in the best place of the land make thy father and thy brethren dwel: let the dwel in the land of Goshen: and if thou knowest that there be men of actiuitie among them, make them rulers ouer my cattell.

7 Joseph introduisit Jacob son père et le présenta à Pharaon; et Jacob rendit hommage à Pharaon.

Ioseph also brought Iaakob his father, and set him before Pharaoh. And Iaakob saluted Pharaoh.

8 Pharaon dit à Jacob: "Quel est le nombre des années de ta vie?"

Then Pharaoh sayde vnto Iaakob, Howe olde art thou?

9 Et Jacob répondit à Pharaon: "Le nombre des années de mes pérégrinations, cent trente ans. II a été court et malheureux, le temps des années de ma vie et il ne vaut pas les années de la vie de mes pères, les jours de leurs pérégrinations."

And Iaakob sayd vnto Pharaoh, The whole time of my pilgrimage is an hundreth and thirty yeeres: fewe and euill haue the dayes of my life bene, and I haue not attayned vnto the yeeres of the life of my fathers, in the dayes of their pilgrimages.

10 Jacob salua Pharaon et se retira de devant lui.

And Iaakob tooke leaue of Pharaoh, and departed from the presence of Pharaoh.

11 Joseph établit son père et ses frères et leur donna droit de propriété dans le pays d’Égypte, dans le meilleur territoire, celui de Ramsès, comme l’avait ordonné Pharaon.

And Ioseph placed his father, and his brethren, and gaue them possession in the lande of Egypt, in the best of the land, euen in the lande of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded.

12 Joseph nourrit son père, ses frères et toute la maison de son père, donnant des vivres selon les besoins de chaque famille.

And Ioseph nourished his father, and his brethren, and all his fathers houshold with bread, euen to the yong children.

13 Or, le pain manqua dans toute la contrée, tant la disette était grande; et le pays d’Égypte et le pays de Canaan étaient accablés par la famine.

Now there was no bread in all the land: for the famine was exceeding sore: so that the land of Egypt, and the land of Canaan were famished by reason of the famine.

14 Joseph recueillit tout l’argent qui se trouvait dans le pays d’Égypte et dans celui de Canaan, en échange du blé qu’ils achetaient et il fit entrer cet argent dans la maison de Pharaon.

And Ioseph gathered all the money, that was found in the land of Egypt, and in the land of Canaan, for the corne which they bought, and Ioseph layd vp the money in Pharaohs house.

15 Quand l’argent fut épuisé dans le pays d’Égypte et dans celui de Canaan, tous les Égyptiens s’adressèrent à Joseph, disant: "Donne-nous du pain; pourquoi péririons-nous sous tes yeux, faute d’argent?"

So when money fayled in the lande of Egypt, and in the lande of Canaan, then all the Egyptians came vnto Ioseph, and sayde, Giue vs bread: for why should we dye before thee? for our money is spent.

16 Joseph répondit: "Livrez vos bestiaux, je veux vous en fournir contre vos bestiaux, si l’argent manque."

Then saide Ioseph, Bring your cattell, and I will giue you for your cattell, if your money be spent.

17 Ils amenèrent leur bétail à Joseph et Joseph leur donna du pain en échange des chevaux, du menu bétail, du gros bétail et des ânes; ils les sustenta de nourriture, pour tout leur bétail, cette année-là.

So they brought their cattell vnto Ioseph, and Ioseph gaue them bread for the horses, and for the flockes of sheepe, and for the heards of cattel, and for the asses: so he fed them with bread for all their cattell that yeere.

18 Cette année écoulée, ils vinrent à lui l’année suivante et lui dirent: "Nous ne pouvons dissimuler à mon seigneur que, l’argent et le bétail ayant entièrement passé à mon seigneur, il ne nous reste à lui offrir que nos corps et nos terres.

But when the yeere was ended, they came vnto him the next yeere, and sayd vnto him, We will not hide from my lord, that since our money is spent, and my lord hath the heards of the cattel, there is nothing left in the sight of my lorde, but our bodies and our ground.

19 Pourquoi péririons-nous à ta vue, nous et nos terres? Deviens notre possesseur et celui de nos terres, moyennant des vivres: nous et nos terres serons serfs de Pharaon; tu nous donneras de la semence et nous vivrons au lieu de périr et la terre ne sera pas désolée."

Why shall we perish in thy sight, both we, and our land? bye vs and our land for bread, and we and our land will be bonde to Pharaoh: therefore giue vs seede, that we may liue and not dye, and that the land go not to waste.

20 Joseph acquit tout le sol de l’Égypte au profit de Pharaon, les Égyptiens ayant vendu chacun leurs champs, contraints qu’ils étaient par la famine: ainsi la contrée appartint à Pharaon.

So Ioseph bought all the lande of Egypt for Pharaoh: for the Egyptians solde euery man his ground because the famine was sore vpon the: so the land became Pharaohs.

21 A l’égard du peuple, il le transféra d’une ville dans l’autre, dans toute l’étendue du territoire égyptien.

And he remoued the people vnto the cities, from one side of Egypt euen to the other.

22 Toutefois, le domaine des prêtres, il ne l’acquit point. Car les prêtres recevaient de Pharaon une portion fixe et ils consommaient la portion que leur allouait Pharaon, de sorte qu’ils ne vendirent pas leur domaine.

Onely the lande of the Priestes bought he not: for the Priestes had an ordinarie of Pharaoh, and they did eate their ordinarie, which Pharaoh gaue them: wherefore they solde not their grounde.

23 Et Joseph dit au peuple: "Donc, je vous ai acheté aujourd’hui vous et vos terres pour Pharaon. Voici pour vous des grains, ensemencez la terre;

Then Ioseph sayd vnto the people, Behold, I haue bought you this daye, and your lande for Pharaoh: lo, here is seede for you: sowe therefore the grounde.

24 puis, à l’époque des produits, vous donnerez un cinquième à Pharaon; les quatre autres parts vous serviront à ensemencer les champs et à vous nourrir ainsi que vos gens et vos familles."

And of the encrease ye shall giue the fifth part vnto Pharaoh, and foure partes shalbe yours for the seede of the fielde, and for your meate, and for them of your housholdes, and for your children to eate.

25 Ils répondirent: "Tu nous rends la vie! Puissions-nous trouver grâce aux yeux de mon seigneur et nous resterons serfs de Pharaon."

Then they answered, Thou hast saued our liues: let vs finde grace in the sight of my Lord, and we will be Pharaohs seruants.

26 Joseph imposa au sol de l’Égypte cette contribution, qui subsiste encore, d’un cinquième pour Pharaon. Le domaine des prêtres seuls était excepté, il ne relevait point de Pharaon.

Then Ioseph made it a lawe ouer the land of Egypt vnto this day, that Pharaoh should haue the fift part, except the land of the priests only, which was not Pharaohs.

27 Israël s’établit donc dans le pays d’Égypte, dans la province de Gessen; ils en demeurèrent possesseurs, y crûrent et y multiplièrent prodigieusement.

And Israel dwelt in the lande of Egypt, in the countrey of Goshen: and they had their possessions therein, and grewe and multiplied exceedingly.

28 Jacob vécut dans le pays d’Égypte dix sept ans; la durée de la vie de Jacob fut donc de cent quarante-sept années.

Moreouer, Iaakob liued in the lande of Egypt seuenteene yeeres, so that the whole age of Iaakob was an hundreth fourtie and seuen yeere.

29 Les jours d’Israël approchant de leur terme, il manda son fils Joseph et lui dit: "Si tu as quelque affection pour moi, mets, je te prie, ta main sous ma hanche pour attester que tu agiras envers moi avec bonté et fidélité, en ne m’ensevelissant point en Egypte.

Now when the time drewe neere that Israel must dye, he called his sonne Ioseph, and sayde vnto him, If I haue nowe founde grace in thy sight, put thine hand nowe vnder my thigh, and deale mercifully and truely with me: burie me not, I pray thee, in Egypt.

30 Quand je dormirai avec mes pères, tu me transporteras hors de l’Égypte et tu m’enseveliras dans leur sépulcre." Il répondit: "Je ferai selon ta parole."

But when I shall sleepe with my fathers, thou shalt carry me out of Egypt, and bury mee in their buryall. And he answered, I will doe as thou hast sayde.

31 Il reprit: "Jure-le-moi" et il le lui jura; et Israël s’inclina sur le chevet du lit.

The he said, Sweare vnto me. And he sware vnto him. And Israel worshipped towardes the beds head.
