Genèse 13
1 Abraham remonta d’Egypte lui, sa femme et toute sa suite, et Loth avec lui, s’acheminant vers le midi.
Than Abram departed out of Egipte both he and his wyfe and all that he had and Lot wyth hym vnto the south.
2 Or, Abraham était puissamment riche en bétail, en argent et en or.
Abram was very rych in catell syluer and gold.
3 Il repassa par ses pérégrinations, depuis le midi, jusqu’à Béthel, jusqu’à l’endroit où avait été sa tente la première fois, entre Béthel et Aï,
And he went on his iourney fro the south even vnto BETHEL ad vnto the place where his tente was at the fyrst tyme betwene BETHEL and Ay
4 à l’endroit où se trouvait l’autel qu’il y avait précédemment érigé. Abram y proclama le nom de l’Éternel.
and vnto the place of the aulter which he made before. And there called Abram vpon the name of the LORde.
5 Loth aussi, qui accompagnait Abram, avait du menu bétail, du gros bétail et ses tentes.
Lot also which went wyth hym had shepe catell and tentes:
6 Le terrain ne put se prêter à ce qu’ils demeurassent ensemble; car leurs possessions étaient considérables, et ils ne pouvaient habiter ensemble.
so that the londe was not abill to receaue them that they myght dwell together for the substance of their riches was so greate that they coude not dwell together
7 Il s’éleva des différends entre les pasteurs des troupeaux d’Abram et les pasteurs des troupeaux de Loth; le Cananéen et le Phérezéen occupaient alors le pays.
And there fell a stryfe betwene the herdmen of Abrams catell and the herdmen of Lots catell. Moreouer the Cananytes and the Pherysites dwelled at that tyme in the lande.
8 Abram dit à Loth: "Qu’il n’y ait donc point de querelles entre moi et toi, entre mes pasteurs et les tiens; car nous sommes frères.
Than sayd Abram vnto Lot: let there be no stryfe I praye the betwene the and me and betwene my herdmen and thyne for we be brethren.
9 Toute la contrée n’est elle pas devant toi? De grâce, sépare-toi de moi: si tu vas à gauche, j’irai à droite; si tu vas à droite, je prendrai la gauche."
Ys not all the hole lande before the? Departe I praye the fro me. Yf thou wylt take the lefte hande I wyll take the right: Or yf thou take the right hande I wyll take the left.
10 Loth leva les yeux et considéra toute la plaine du Jourdain, tout entière arrosée, avant que l’Éternel eût détruit Sodome et Gommorhe; semblable à un jardin céleste, à la contrée d’Egypte, et s’étendant jusqu’à Çoar.
And Lot lyft vp hys eyes and beheld all the contre aboute Iordane which was a plenteous contre of water every where before the LORde destroyed Sodoma and Gomorra. Even as the garden of the LORde and as the lande of Egipte tyll thou come to Zoar.
11 Loth choisit toute la plaine du Jourdain, et se dirigea du côté oriental; et ils se séparèrent l’un de l’autre.
Than Lot chose all the costes of Iordane ad toke hys iourney from the east. And so departed the one brother from the other.
12 Abram demeura dans le pays de Canaan; Loth s’établit dans les villes de la plaine et dressa ses tentes jusqu’à Sodome.
Abram dwelled in the lande of Canaan. And lot in the cytes of the playne and tented tyll he came to Sodome.
13 Or, les habitants de Sodome étaient pervers et pécheurs devant l’Éternel, à un haut degré.
But the men of sodome were wyked and synned exceadyngly agenst the LORde.
14 L’Éternel dit à Abram, après que Loth se fut séparé de lui: "Lève les yeux et du point où tu es placé, promène tes regards au nord, au midi, à l’orient et à l’occident:
And the LORde sayed vnto Abram after that Lot was departed from hym: lyfte vp thyne eyes and loke from ye place where thou art northward southward eastward and westward
15 Eh bien! tout le pays que tu aperçois, je le donne à toi et à ta perpétuité.
for all the lande which thou seiste wyll I gyue vnto the and to thy seed for ever.
16 Je rendrai ta race semblable à la poussière de la terre; tellement que, si l’on peut nombrer la poussière de la terre, ta race aussi pourra être nombrée.
And I wyll make thy seed as the dust of the erth: so that yf a ma can nombre the dust of the erth than shall thy seed also be nombred.
17 Lève-toi! parcours cette contrée en long et en large! car c’est à toi que je la destine."
Aryse and walke aboute in the lande in the length of it ad in the bredth for I wyll geue it vnto the.
18 Abram alla dresser sa tente et établir sa demeure dans les plaines de Mamré, qui sont en Hébron; et il y éleva un autel au Seigneur.
Than Abra toke downe hys tente and went and dwelled in the okegrove of Mamre which is in Ebron and buylded there an altar to the LORde.
