1 Voici les gens de la province, parmi les captifs exilés que Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone, avait déportés à Babylone, qui partirent pour retourner à Jérusalem et en Judée, chacun dans sa ville.
Now these are the sons of the province who went up out of the captivity of those who had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away to Babylon, and who returned to Jerusalem and Judah, every man to his city,
2 Ils revinrent avec Zorobabel, Yêchoua, Nehémia, Seraïa, Reêlaïa, Mardochée, Bilchân, Mispar, Bigvaï, Rehoum et Baana. Ainsi se chiffraient les hommes du peuple d’Israël:
who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, Baanah. The number of the men of the people of Israel:
3 les enfants de Paroch: deux mille cent soixante-douze;
The sons of Parosh, two thousand a hundred seventy-two.
4 les enfants de Chefatia: trois cent soixante-douze;
The sons of Shephatiah, three hundred seventy-two.
5 les enfants d’Arah: sept cent soixante-quinze;
The sons of Arah, seven hundred seventy-five.
6 les enfants de Pahat-Moab, de la famille de Yêchoua et Joab: deux mille huit cent douze;
The sons of Pahath-moab, of the sons of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand eight hundred and twelve.
7 les enfants d’Elam: mille deux cents cinquante-quatre;
The sons of Elam, a thousand two hundred fifty-four.
8 les enfants de Zattou: neuf cent quarante-cinq;
The sons of Zattu, nine hundred forty-five.
9 les enfants de Zaccaï: sept cent soixante;

31 les enfants d’un autre Elam: mille deux cent cinquante-quatre;

56 les enfants de Yaala, les enfants de Darkôn, les enfants de Ghiddêl;
the sons of Jaalah, the sons of Darkon, the sons of Giddel,
57 les enfants de Chefatia, les enfants de Hattil, les enfants de Pokhéret-Hacebaïm, les enfants d’Ami.
the sons of Shephatiah, the sons of Hattil, the sons of Pochereth-hazzebaim, the sons of Ami.
58 Tous les serviteurs du temple et les descendants des esclaves de Salomon s’élevaient au nombre de trois cent quatre-vingt-douze.
All the Nethinim and the sons of Solomon's servants were three hundred ninety-two.
59 Et voici ceux qui partirent de Têl-Mélah, de Têl-Harcha, Keroub, Addân, Immêr, et qui ne purent indiquer leur famille et leur filiation pour établir qu’ils faisaient partie d’Israël:
And these were those who went up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they could not show their fathers' houses, and their seed, whether they were of Israel:
60 les enfants de Delaïa, les enfants de Tobie, les enfants de Nekoda, au nombre de six cent cinquante-deux.
the sons of Delaiah, the sons of Tobiah, the sons of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.
61 Et parmi les descendants des prêtres: les enfants de Hobaïa, les enfants de Hakoç, les enfants de Barzillaï, qui avait pris pour femme une des filles de Barzillaï le Galaadite et en avait adopté le nom.
And of the sons of the priests: the sons of Habaiah, the sons of Hakkoz, the sons of Barzillai who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.
62 Ceux-là recherchèrent leurs tables de généalogie, mais elles ne purent être retrouvées; aussi furent-ils déchus du sacerdoce.
These sought their registration among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found. Therefore they were deemed polluted and put away from the priesthood.
63 Le gouverneur leur défendit de manger des choses éminemment saintes, jusqu’au jour où officierait de nouveau un prêtre portant les Ourim et les Toumim.
And the governor said to them that they should not eat of the most holy things till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
64 Toute la communauté réunie comptait quarante-deux mille trois cent soixante individus,
The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred and sixty,
65 sans compter leurs esclaves et leurs servantes, au nombre de sept mille trois cent trente-sept, auxquels s’ajoutaient des chanteurs et des chanteuses, au nombre de deux cents.
besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. And they had two hundred singing men and singing women.
66 Ils avaient sept cent trente-six chevaux, deux cent quarante-cinq mulets,
Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six, their mules, two hundred forty-five,
67 quatre cent trente-cinq chameaux, six mille sept cent vingt ânes.
their camels, four hundred thirty-five, their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 Un certain nombre des chefs de famille, dès qu’ils arrivèrent près du temple de l’Eternel, qui est à Jérusalem, firent des dons volontaires au temple de Dieu, en vue de le rétablir sur son emplacement.
And some of the heads of fathers, when they came to the house of Jehovah which is in Jerusalem, offered willingly for the house of God to set it up in its place.
69 Suivant leurs moyens, ils versèrent à la caisse des travaux: en or, soixante et un mille dariques, et en argent, cinq mille mines, ainsi que cent tuniques de prêtres.
They gave after their ability into the treasury of the work sixty-one thousand darics of gold, and five thousand pounds of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.
70 Les prêtres et les Lévites ainsi que ceux du peuple, les chantres, les portiers, les esclaves du temple s’établirent dans leurs villes respectives; et tout Israël s’installa dans ses villes.
So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinim, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
