Ézéchiel 3

1 Et il me dit: "Fils de l’homme, mange ce que tu trouves là, mange ce rouleau et va parler à la maison d’Israël."

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.

2 J’Ouvris la bouche, et il me fit manger ce rouleau.

So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.

3 Et il me dit: "Fils de l’homme, tu nourriras ton ventre' et rempliras tes entrailles de ce rouleau que je te donne"; je le mangeai et il devint dans ma bouche aussi doux que du miel.

And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat [it; ] and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.

4 Il me dit encore: "Fils de l’homme, debout! Va auprès de la maison d’Israël et communique-leur mes paroles.

And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.

5 Car ce n’est pas comme à un peuple à l’idiome obscur et à la langue lourde que tu es envoyé à la maison d’Israël.

For thou [art] not sent to a people of a strange speech and of an hard language, [but] to the house of Israel;

6 Ce n’est pas à des peuples nombreux au langage obscur et à la langue lourde, dont tu ne comprends pas les paroles; si à ceux-là je t’envoyais, eux, ils t’écouteraient.

Not to many people of a strange speech and of an hard language, whose words thou canst not understand. Surely, had I sent thee to them, they would have hearkened unto thee.

7 Mais la maison d’Israël ne consentira pas à t’écouter, car ils ne veulent pas m’écouter; car la maison d’Israël tout entière a le front rétif et le coeur endurci.

But the house of Israel will not hearken unto thee; for they will not hearken unto me: for all the house of Israel [are] impudent and hardhearted.

8 Voici que je rendrai ton visage résolu en face de leurs visages et ton front résolu en face de leur front.

Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.

9 Comme le diamant plus dur que le roc, je ferai ton front. Tu n’auras pas peur d’eux, tu ne trembleras pas à cause d’eux, parce qu’ils sont une maison de rébellion.

As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead: fear them not, neither be dismayed at their looks, though they [be] a rebellious house.

10 Et il me dit: "Fils de l’homme, toutes les paroles que je te dirai, accueille-les dans ton coeur et écoute-les de tes oreilles.

Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart, and hear with thine ears.

11 Et va-t-en trouver les exilés, les fils de ton peuple, et tu: leur diras: "Ainsi a parlé le Seigneur Dieu," soit qu’ils écoutent, soit qu’ils refusent."

And go, get thee to them of the captivity, unto the children of thy people, and speak unto them, and tell them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear.

12 Et l’esprit m’emporta et j’entendis derrière moi le bruit d’un grand tumulte: "Bénie soit la gloire de l’Eternel en son lieu!"

Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, [saying], Blessed [be] the glory of the LORD from his place.

13 Et le bruit des ailes des Haïot qui se joignaient l’une l’autre et le bruit des roues vis-à-vis d’elles et le bruit d’un grand tumulte.

[I heard] also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another, and the noise of the wheels over against them, and a noise of a great rushing.

14 Et l’esprit m’éleva en l’air et m’emporta, et je m’en allai, triste, dans l’exaltation de mon esprit, et la main du Seigneur pesait sur moi fortement.

So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

15 Et j’allai vers les exilés à Tel-Abib, vers ceux qui demeurent près du fleuve de Kebar, et là où ils étaient assis, je demeurai pendant sept jours, affligé, au milieu d’eux.

Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib, that dwelt by the river of Chebar, and I sat where they sat, and remained there astonished among them seven days.

16 Il advint au bout de sept jours que la parole du Seigneur me fut adressée en ces termes:

And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

17 "Fils de l’homme, je t’ai placé en sentinelle sur la maison d’Israël, tu écouteras ce que ma bouche dira, et tu les admonesteras de ma part.

Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.

18 Quand je dirai à l’impie: "Oui, tu mourras!" si tu ne l’as pas averti, si tu n’as pas parlé afin de détourner par tes exhortations le méchant de sa mauvaise voie et de sauver sa vie, le méchant mourra dans son iniquité, mais de son sang, je te demanderai compte.

When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

19 Mais si toi, tu avertis le méchant et qu’il ne revienne pas de son iniquité et de sa voie mauvaise, lui mourra dans son péché, et toi, tu auras la vie sauve.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

20 Et quand le juste se sera détourné de sa vertu pour faire le mal, je mettrai un obstacle devant lui et il mourra parce que tu ne l’auras pas averti, il mourra dans son péché et les actes de vertu qu’il a accomplis ne seront pas mentionnés, mais de son sang, je te demanderai compte.

Again, When a righteous [man] doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

21 Mais que si toi tu avertis le juste pour que le juste ne pèche pas, et qu’en effet, il ne pèche pas, certes, il vivra, pour avoir été mis en garde, et toi, tu auras la vie sauve."

Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous [man], that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

22 Et la main du Seigneur fut sur moi en ce lieu et il me dit: "Lève-toi, sors vers la plaine et là je te parlerai"

And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.

23 Et je me levai et je sortis vers la plaine, et voici que là se tenait la gloire de l’Eternel, comme la gloire que j’avais vue sur le fleuve de Kebar, et je tombai sur ma face.

Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I fell on my face.

24 Et l’esprit vint en moi et me fit dresser sur mes pieds, et Dieu me parla et me dit: "Viens, enferme-toi dans ta maison.

Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house.

25 Et toi, fils de l’homme, voici qu’ils mettront sur toi des cordes avec lesquelles ils te lieront et tu ne sortiras pas parmi eux.

But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them:

26 Et j’attacherai ta langue à ton palais, tu deviendras muet, et tu ne leur seras pas un sermonneur, car ils sont une maison de rébellion.

And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they [are] a rebellious house.

27 Mais quand je te parlerai, j’ouvrirai ta bouche et tu leur diras: "Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Ecoute qui veut écouter, refuse d’entendre qui veut refuser! Car ils sont une maison de rébellion!"

But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they [are] a rebellious house.
