Ézéchiel 24
1 Dans la neuvième année, le dixième jour du dixième mois, la parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
Almost nine [after we had been taken to Babylonia], on the tenth day of the tenth month [of that year], Yahweh gave me this message:
2 "Fils de l’homme, note-toi le nom de ce jour, du jour même où nous sommes: le roi de Babylone prend le contact de Jérusalem aujourd’hui même.
“You human, write down what day of the month this is. On this [the army of] King of Babylon has surrounded Jerusalem.
3 Imagine aussi une parabole à l’endroit de la maison de rébellion; tu leur diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Pose la marmite, pose-la, et puis verses-y de l’eau.
Tell those rebellious Israeli people [MTY] [in Babylon] a parable. Say this to them: This is what Yahweh the Lord says: ‘Pour water into the [cooking] pot and put the pot [the fire].
4 Rassembles-y les morceaux, rien que de bons morceaux, cuisse et épaule, remplis-la d’os excellents.
Put into the pot some pieces of [from one of your best sheep]: Put in the leg and shoulder, [which are] the best pieces. [Then] fill [the rest of] the pot with the best bones.
5 Prends ce qu’il y a de mieux dans les agneaux, fais aussi cuire les os par dessous; qu’elle bouille à gros bouillons, pour que les os également puissent y cuire.
Pile wood on the fire, and cook the bones and the meat in the boiling water.’
6 C’Est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Malheur, ô ville de sang, marmite à laquelle la crasse reste fixée, qui n’a pas été débarrassée de sa crasse! Qu’on la vide morceau par morceau, sans que le sort ait à intervenir à son sujet.
[Do that] because this is what Yahweh the Lord says: ‘Terrible things will happen [Jerusalem]; it is city that is full of murderers [MTY], [a city that is like] [MET] a scorched pot whose black residue inside cannot be removed. Take the pieces [of meat] out of the pot, but do not choose which pieces to take out.
7 Car le sang qu’elle a versé est demeuré au milieu d’elle; elle l’a jeté sur une roche aride, elle ne l’a pas répandu sur le sol, de façon à le recouvrir de terre.
The blood of the people who were murdered in Jerusalem is still there; they were murdered on the bare rocks, not on the soil, where their blood could be covered.
8 C’Est pour faire éclater la colère, pour en tirer vengeance que j’ai exposé son sang sur une roche aride, où il ne pouvait être recouvert.
But I am the one who caused the blood of those who were murdered [MTY] to be smeared on the bare rock, where their blood could not be covered; I did that in order [I could see it and] then be angry and get revenge.’
9 C’Est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Malheur, ô ville de sang! Moi aussi j’élèverai un grand bûcher.
Therefore, this is what [I], Yahweh the Lord say: ‘Terrible things will happen to that city that is full of murderers [MTY]! [It will be as though] I also will pile high [the wood in the fire].
10 Qu’on accumule le bois, qu’on allume le feu, qu’on consume la viande, qu’on brouille la mixture et que les os soient carbonisés!
[So], heap on the wood and light the fire! Cook the meat well, and mix some spices with it; cook it until the bones are charred.
11 Puis, qu’on la pose à vide sur ses charbons, afin qu’elle s’échauffe, que s’embrase son cuivre, que son impureté fonde au dedans et que sa crasse disparaisse.
Then set the empty pot on the [of the fire] until the pot becomes [very] hot and the copper glows, with the result that the impurities and the rust will be burned up.
12 Elle a coûté de vains efforts, l’abondance de sa crasse n’en sort pas: au feu sa crasse!
[It is as though] I tried to get rid of that rust, but I was not able to do it, [not even] by putting that pot in a fire.
13 II y a de l’infamie dans ton impureté: puisque j’ai cherché à t’épurer et que tu n’es pas devenue pure, tu ne te débarrasseras plus de ton impureté, jusqu’à ce que j’aie assouvi ma colère sur toi.
The [in the pot represents] your immoral behavior. I tried to cleanse you from your wicked behavior, but you did not allow me to do that. So you will not be [from the guilt of your sin] [I have punished you and] I am no longer angry.
14 Moi, le Seigneur, j’ai parlé; cela arrivera, je l’accomplirai; je ne me raviserai point, je n’aurai ni pitié ni regret. Selon tes voies et selon tes actes, on te jugera, dit le Seigneur Dieu."
I, Yahweh, have said [that I will surely punish you]. [And it is time] for me to do that. I will not change my mind; I will not refrain from punishing you, and I will not pity you. I will judge you [and punish you] as you deserve to be punished for your sinful behavior. [That will surely happen because] I, Yahweh the Lord, have said it.”’”
15 La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:
[One day] Yahweh gave me this message:
16 "Fils de l’homme, je vais t’enlever les délices de tes yeux par un coup soudain; mais tu ne te lamenteras pas, tu ne pleureras pas et tes larmes ne couleront pas.
“You human, I am going to suddenly take from [your wife], whom you love very much. [when she dies], do [show that you are] sad or lament or cry.
17 Soupire en silence, ne prends pas le deuil comme pour des morts; attache sur toi ta coiffure, mets tes chaussures à tes pieds. Tu ne t’envelopperas pas jusqu’aux lèvres et tu ne mangeras pas le pain des hommes.
Groan quietly; do not cry [openly] for her. [Keep] your turban wrapped around your head, [instead of being barefoot, keep] your sandals on your feet. Do not cover the lower part of your [to show that you are sad]. And do not eat the kind of food that people who are mourning usually eat.”
18 Je parlai au peuple le matin, et le soir ma femme mourut; le lendemain matin je fis comme il m’avait été ordonné.
[one morning] I talked to the [as usual], and that evening my wife [suddenly] died. The next morning I did what [Yahweh] had told me to do.
19 Le peuple me dit: "Ne nous expliqueras-tu pas ce que signifie pour nous ta manière d’agir?"
Then the people asked me, “What do the things that you are doing signify to us?”
20 Je leur répondis: "La parole de l’Eternel m’a été adressée en ces termes:
So I said to them, “[This is what] Yahweh told me:
21 Dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Je vais profaner mon sanctuaire, votre orgueil et votre force, les délices de vos yeux, l’objet de votre amour; et vos fils et vos filles que vous avez laissés tomberont sous l’épée.
‘Tell the Israeli people [MTY] that I am about to destroy the temple, [the building] that you are very proud of, the building that you delight to look at. Your children whom you [in Jerusalem when you were forced to come to Babylon] will be killed [their enemies’] swords.
22 Et vous ferez comme j’ai fait; vous ne vous envelopperez point jusqu’aux lèvres, et vous ne mangerez pas le pain des hommes.
[When that happens], you will do like I have done: You will not cover the lower part of your faces, or eat the kinds of food that people who are mourning usually eat.
23 Votre coiffure restera sur votre tête et vos chaussures à vos pieds; vous ne vous lamenterez point et ne pleurerez point; mais vous vous consumerez par vos fautes et vous geindrez l’un en présence de l’autre.
[You will keep] your turbans wrapped around your heads and [keep] your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn or cry, but your bodies will become very thin and slowly die because of your sins. And you will groan to each other.
24 Et Ézéchiel vous servira de symbole: tout ce qu’il a fait, vous l’imiterez; quand cela arrivera, vous saurez que je suis le Seigneur Dieu."
Ezekiel will be a warning to you, and you must do what he has done. When that happens, you will know that I, Yahweh the [have the power to do what I say that I will do].’”
25 Pour toi, fils de l’homme, certes, le jour où je leur prendrai le boulevard de leur force, la joie de leur parure, les délices de leurs yeux et l’attrait de leur âme, leurs fils et leurs filles,
[Then Yahweh said to me], “You human, [soon] I will destroy their sacred temple, which they rejoice about and which they respect and delight to look at, and [I will get rid of] their sons and daughters also.
26 ce jour-là, il viendra un fuyard auprès de toi pour l’annoncer aux oreilles de tous.
On that day, someone will escape [from Jerusalem] and come and tell you what has happened [there].
27 Ce jour-là, ta bouche s’ouvrira avec celle du fuyard, tu parleras et ne seras plus réduit au mutisme; tu leur serviras de symbole, et ils sauront que je suis l’Eternel."
When that happens, you will be able to speak again [MTY] [without constraint]. You two will talk together [DOU]. You will be a warning to the people; and they will know that I, Yahweh the Lord, [have the power to do what I say that I will do].”
