Ézéchiel 21

1 La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:

The word of ye Lord came to me againe, saying,

2 "Fils de l’homme, dirige ta face vers Jérusalem, prêche sur les sanctuaires et prophétise sur la terre d’Israël.

Sonne of man, set thy face toward Ierusalem, and drop thy word toward the holy places, and prophecie against the land of Israel.

3 Tu diras au pays d’Israël: Ainsi parle l’Eternel: Me voici contre toi, je sortirai mon épée de son fourreau et j’extirperai de toi justes et impies.

And say to the land of Israel, Thus saith the Lord, Beholde, I come against thee, and will drawe my sword out of his sheath, and cut off from thee both the righteous and the wicked.

4 Parce que je veux extirper de toi justes et impies, c’est pourquoi mon épée sortira de son fourreau contre toute chair du Sud au Nord.

Seeing then that I will cut off from thee both the righteous and wicked, therefore shall my sworde goe out of his sheath against all flesh from the South to the North,

5 Et toute chair saura que c’est moi, l’Eternel, qui ai tiré mon épée du fourreau: elle n’y rentrera plus.

That all flesh may knowe that I the Lord haue drawen my sworde out of his sheath, and it shall not returne any more.

6 Et toi, fils de l’homme, pousse des soupirs: les reins brisés, dans l’amertume, pousse des soupirs à leurs yeux.

Mourne therefore, thou sonne of man, as in the paine of thy reines, and mourne bitterly before them.

7 Alors s’ils te disent: "Pourquoi soupires-tu?" tu répondras: "C’Est à cause de la nouvelle qui arrive, qui fait fondre tous les coeurs, défaillir toutes les mains, se troubler tous les esprits, s’en aller en eau tous les genoux; elle arrive et s’accomplit dit le Seigneur Dieu."

And if they say vnto thee, Wherefore mournest thou? then answere, Because of the bruite: for it commeth, and euery heart shall melt, and all handes shall be weake, and all mindes shall faint, and all knees shall fall away as water: beholde, it commeth, and shall be done, saith the Lord God.

8 La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:

Againe, the word of the Lord came vnto me, saying,

9 "Fils de l’homme, prophétise et dis: Ainsi parle le Seigneur: Dis qu’une épée, une épée a été aiguisée et polie.

Sonne of man, prophecie, and say, Thus saith the Lord God, say, A sworde, a sworde both sharpe, and fourbished.

10 C’Est pour procéder à la tuerie qu’elle a été aiguisée, c’est pour qu’elle jette des éclairs qu’elle a été polie. Ou se peut-il que nous connaissions encore la joie? La verge qui frappe mon fils voit avec dédain tout instrument de bois.

It is sharpened to make a sore slaughter, and it is fourbished that it may glitter: how shall we reioyce? for it contemneth the rod of my sonne, as all other trees.

11 Il l’a donnée à polir pour qu’on la saisisse par la main; on l’a aiguisée, l’épée, et on l’a polie pour la mettre en la main du meurtrier.

And he hath giuen it to be fourbished, that he may handle it: this sword is sharpe, and is fourbished, that he may giue it into ye hand of the slayer.

12 Crie et lamente-toi, fils de l’homme, car cette épée a sévi sur mon peuple, elle a sévi sur tous les princes d’Israël; ils ont été livrés à l’épée avec mon peuple, c’est pourquoi frappe-toi la hanche.

Cry, and houle, sonne of man: for this shall come to my people, and it shall come vnto all the princes of Israel: the terrours of the sword shall be vpon my people: smite therefore vpon thy thigh.

13 C’Est une épreuve. Et que sera-ce s’il s’y ajoute la verge dédaigneuse? Rien ne sera plus, dit le Seigneur Dieu.

For it is a triall, and what shall this be, if the sworde contemne euen the rodde? It shall be no more, saith the Lord God.

14 Et toi, fils de l’homme, prophétise et frappe d’une main contre l’autre et que l’épée redouble ses coups par trois fois! C’Est une épée de massacres, l’épée de la grande victime qui les pourchasse.

Thou therefore, sonne of man, prophecie, and smite hand to hand, and let the sworde be doubled: let the sworde that hath killed, returne the third time: it is the sword of the great slaughter entring into their priuie chambers.

15 C’Est afin de faire fondre les coeurs et de multiplier les chutes auprès de toutes leurs portes, que j’ai brandi le brillant de l’épée; ah! Elle est préparée pour étinceler et aiguisée pour tuer.

I haue brought the feare of the sword into all their gates to make their heart to faint, and to multiplie their ruines. Ah it is made bright, and it is dressed for the slaughter.

16 Sois tranchante à droite, avance à gauche, partout où tes lames sont dirigées.

Get thee alone: goe to the right hande, or get thy selfe to the left hande, whithersoeuer thy face turneth.

17 Et moi aussi, je frapperai d’une main contre l’autre et j’assouvirai ma colère, moi, l’Eternel, je l’ai dit."

I wil also smite mine hands together, and wil cause my wrath to cease. I the Lord haue said it.

18 La parole de l’Eternel me fut adressée en ces termes:

The worde of the Lord came vnto mee againe, saying,

19 "O toi, fils de l’homme, fais-toi deux chemins par où vienne l’épée du roi de Babylone; ils doivent partir tous deux d’un même pays; et grave une main indicatrice, grave-la au point de départ du chemin de la ville.

Also thou sonne of man, appoint thee two wayes, that the sworde of the King of Babel may come: both twaine shall come out of one lande, and chuse a place, and chuse it in the corner of the way of the citie.

20 Fais un chemin par où vienne l’épée contre Rabba capitale des fils d’Ammon et contre Juda dans Jérusalem la forte.

Appoint a way, that the sworde may come to Rabbath of the Ammonites, and to Iudah in Ierusalem the strong citie.

21 Car le roi de Babylone s’est porté à la naissance du chemin, au commencement des deux chemins, pour consulter le sort; il a agité les flèches, interrogé les Teraphim, examiné le foie.

And the King of Babel stoode at the parting of the way, at the head of the two wayes, consulting by diuination, and made his arrowes bright: hee consulted with idoles, and looked in the liuer.

22 Dans sa main droite se trouvait le sort "Jérusalem" pour y dresser des béliers, y proclamer la tuerie, pour y proférer des cris de guerre, pour dresser des béliers contre (es portes, pour y jeter une chaussée et bâtir des ouvrages de siège.

At his right hand was the diuination for Ierusalem to appoint captaines, to open their mouth in the slaughter, and to lift vp their voyce with shouting, to laye engines of warre against the gates, to cast a mount, and to builde a fortresse.

23 Mais cela paraîtra à leurs yeux un sort mensonger, on leur a fait serments sur serments; mais lui leur rappellera leur crime, pour qu’ils soient capturés.

And it shalbe vnto them as a false diuination in their sight for the othes made vnto them: but hee will call to remembrance their iniquitie, to the intent they should be taken.

24 C’Est pourquoi, ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu, puisque vous avez réveillé le souvenir de votre crime, en dévoilant vos fautes, en montrant à nu vos péchés dans toutes vos actions, puisqu’il est fait mention de vous, vous serez capturés par la main.

Therefore thus sayeth the Lord God, Because ye haue made your iniquitie to bee remembred, in discouering your rebellion, that in al your workes your sinnes might appeare: because, I say, that ye are come to remembrance, ye shall be taken with the hand.

25 Et toi, impie, désigné à la mort, prince d’Israël dont le jour est venu, à l’heure où ton crime prend fin,

And thou prince of Israel polluted, and wicked, whose day is come, when iniquitie shall haue an ende,

26 ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu: Bas la tiare, plus de couronne! Tout à l’inverse! Que ce qui est bas s’élève, que ce qui est élevé s’abaisse!

Thus saith the Lord God, I will take away the diademe, and take off the crowne: this shalbe no more the same: I wil exalt the humble, and will abase him that is hie.

27 Ruine, ruine, ruine, voilà ce que j’en ferai; cela non plus n’existe plus, jusqu’à ce que vienne celui qui y a droit et à qui je le donnerai.

I wil ouerturne, ouerturne, ouerturne it, and it shall be no more vntill he come, whose right it is, and I will giue it him.

28 Et toi, fils de l’homme, prophétise et dis: "Ainsi parle le Seigneur Dieu à l’égard des fils d’Ammon et de leurs outrages: Dis: Epée, épée dégainée, affilée pour la tuerie, pour briller comme l’éclair,

And thou, sonne of man, prophecie, and say, Thus saith the Lord God to the children of Ammon, and to their blasphemie: say thou, I say, The sword, the sword is drawen foorth, and fourbished to the slaughter, to consume, because of the glittering:

29 tandis qu’on t’adresse des prophéties vaines et des oracles de mensonge, on te pose sur le cou des cadavres des méchants dont le jour est venu, à l’heure où l’iniquité prend fin!

Whiles they see vanitie vnto thee, and prophecied a lie vnto thee to bring thee vpon the neckes of the wicked that are slaine, whose day is come when their iniquitie shall haue an ende.

30 Qu’elle rentre dans son fourreau! A l’endroit où tu fus créée, en ton pays d’extraction je te jugerai.

Shall I cause it to returne into his sheath? I will iudge thee in the place where thou wast created, euen in the land of thine habitation.

31 J’Épancherai sur, toi ma colère; le feu de ma fureur, je le soufflerai sur toi et je te livrerai dans les mains de sauvages, artisans de la destruction.

And I wil powre out mine indignation vpon thee, and will blowe against thee in the fire of my wrath, and deliuer thee into the hand of beastly men, and skilfull to destroy.

32 Tu seras la proie du feu; ton sang coulera par tout le pays; on ne fera plus mention de toi, car moi, l’Eternel, j’ai parlé."

Thou shalt bee in the fire to be deuoured: thy blood shall be in the middes of the lande, and thou shalt be no more remembred: for I the Lord haue spoken it.
