Exode 31

1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse en ces termes:

Then spake Yahweh unto Moses, saying:

2 "Vois, j’ai désigné expressément Beçalêl, fils d’Ouri, fils de Hour, de la tribu de Juda,

See, I have called by name, Bezaleel, son of Uri, son of Hur of the tribe of Judah;

3 et je l’ai rempli d’une inspiration divine, d’habileté, de jugement, de science, et d’aptitude pour tous les arts.

and have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and in understanding, and in knowledge and in all manner of workmanship;

4 Il saura combiner les tissus; mettre en œuvre l’or, l’argent et le cuivre,

to devise skilful designs, to work in gold and in silver, and in bronze;

5 mettre en œuvre et enchâsser la pierre, travailler le bois, exécuter toute espèce d’ouvrage.

and in the cutting of stones for setting, and in the carving of wood, —to work in all manner of workmanship,

6 De plus, je lui ai adjoint Oholiab, fils d’Ahisamak, de la tribu de Dan ainsi que d’autres esprits industrieux que j’ai doués d’habileté. Ils exécuteront tout ce que je t’ai prescrit:

I myself, therefore, lo! I have given with him Oholiab, son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan, and in the heart of every one that is wise-hearted, have I put wisdom, —so shall they make all that I have commanded thee—

7 la Tente d’Assignation, l’arche destinée aux Statuts, le propitiatoire qui doit la couvrir et toutes les pièces de la Tente;

the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony; and the propitiatory which is thereupon, and all the utensils of the tent;

8 la table avec ses accessoires, le candélabre d’or pur avec tous ses ustensiles et l’autel du parfum;

and the table, and its utensils, and the pure lampstand, and all its utensils, —and the incense altar;

9 l’autel de l’holocauste et tous ses ustensiles, la cuve et son support;

and the altar for the ascending-sacrifice, and all its utensils, and the laver, and its stand;

10 les tapis d’emballage, les vêtements sacrés du pontife Aaron et ceux que ses fils doivent porter lorsqu’ils fonctionnent;

and the cloths of variegated stuff, and the holy garments, for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, for ministering as priests;

11 l’huile d’onction et le parfum aromatique pour le sanctuaire. Ils se conformeront, en tout, à ce que Je t’ai ordonné."

and the anointing oil and the fragrant incense for the holy place, according to all which I have commanded thee, shall they do.

12 L’Éternel parla ainsi à Moïse:

Then spake Yahweh unto Moses saying—

13 "Et toi, parle aux enfants d’Israël en ces termes: Toutefois, observez mes sabbats car c’est un symbole de moi à vous dans toutes vos générations, pour qu’on sache que c’est Moi, l’Éternel qui vous sanctifie.

Thou thyself, therefore, speak unto the sons of Israel, saying, Surely, my sabbaths, shall ye keep, for, a sign it is betwixt me and you to your generations, that ye may know that I Yahweh do hallow you.

14 Gardez donc le sabbat, car c’est chose sainte pour vous! Qui le violera sera puni de mort; toute personne même qui fera un travail en ce jour, sera retranchée du milieu de son peuple.

Therefore shall ye keep the sabbath, for holy, it is unto you, he that profaneth it shall be surely put to death; verily whosoever doeth therein any work that soul shall be cut off from the midst of its people:

15 Six jours on se livrera au travail; mais le septième jour il y aura repos, repos complet consacré au Seigneur. Quiconque fera un travail le jour du sabbat sera puni de mort.

Six days, shall work be done, but on the seventh day, is a holy sabbath-keeping of rest unto Yahweh, —whosoever doeth work on the sabbath day, shall be, surely put to death.

16 Les enfants d’Israël seront donc fidèles au sabbat, en l’observant dans toutes leurs générations comme un pacte immuable.

Therefore shall the sons of Israel keep the sabbath, —by making it a Day of Rest to your generations, as an age-abiding covenant:

17 Entre moi et les enfants d’Israël c’est un symbole perpétuel, attestant qu’en six jours, l’Éternel a fait les cieux et la terre, et que, le septième jour, il a mis fin à l’œuvre et s’est reposé."

between me and the sons of Israel, a sign it is unto times age-abiding, —for in six days, did Yahweh make the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day, he rested, and was refreshed.

18 Dieu donna à Moïse, lorsqu’il eut achevé de s’entretenir avec lui sur le mont Sinaï, les deux tables du Statut, tables de pierre, burinées par le doigt de Dieu.

Then gave he unto Moses, as he finished speaking with him in Mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, —tables of stone, written with the finger of God,
