Deutéronome 33
1 Or, voici la bénédiction dont Moïse, l’homme de Dieu, bénit les enfants d’Israël avant de mourir.
And this [is] the blessing with which Moses the man of God blessed the children of Israel before his death.
2 Il dit: "L’Éternel est apparu du haut du Sinaï, a brillé sur le Séir, pour eux! S’Est révélé sur le mont Pharan, a quitté les saintes myriades qui l’entourent, dans sa droite une loi de feu, pour eux!
And he said, The Lord is come from Sina, and has appeared from Seir to us, and has hasted out of the mount of Pharan, with the ten thousands of Cades; on his right hand [were] his angels with him.
3 Ils te sont chers aussi, les peuples; tous leurs saints, ta main les protège: mais eux se sont couchés à tes pieds, ont recueilli ta propre parole.
And he spared his people, and all his sanctified ones [are] under your hands; and they are under you; and he received of his words
4 "C’Est pour nous qu’il dicta une doctrine à Moïse; elle restera l’héritage de la communauté de Jacob."
the law which Moses charged us, an inheritance to the assemblies of Jacob.
5 Ainsi devint-il roi de Yechouroun, les chefs du peuple étant réunis, les tribus d’Israël unanimes.
And he shall be prince with the beloved one, when the princes of the people are gathered together with the tribes of Israel.
6 "Que Ruben vive et soit immortel; que sa population soit innombrable!
Let Ruben live, and not die; and let him be many in number.
7 A Juda, il adressa cette bénédiction: "Ecoute, Seigneur, le vœu de Juda, en l’associant à son peuple; que son bras s’en fasse le champion et lui serve d’auxiliaire contre ses ennemis."
And this [is the blessing] of Juda; Hear, Lord, the voice of Juda, and do you visit his people: his hands shall contend for him, and you shall be a help from his enemies.
8 Sur Lévi, il s’exprima ainsi: "Tes toummîm et tes ourîm à l’homme qui t’est dévoué; que tu as éprouvé à Massa, gourmandé pour les eaux de Meriba;
And to Levi he said, Give to Levi his manifestations, and his truth to the holy man, whom they tempted in the temptation; they reviled him at the water of strife.
9 qui dit de son père et de sa mère: "Je ne les considère point", qui n’a pas égard à ses frères et ne connaît pas ses enfants. Uniquement fidèle à ta parole, gardien de ton alliance,
Who says to his father and mother, I have not seen you; and he knew not his brethren, and he refused to know his sons: he kept your oracles, and observed your covenant.
10 ils enseignent tes lois à Jacob et ta doctrine à Israël; présentent l’encens devant ta face, et l’holocauste sur ton autel.
They shall declare your ordinances to Jacob, and your law to Israel: they shall place incense in [the time of] your wrath continually upon your altar.
11 Bénis, Seigneur, ses efforts, et agrée l’œuvre de ses mains! Brise les reins de ses agresseurs, de ses ennemis, pour qu’ils ne puissent se relever!
Bless, Lord, his strength, and accept the works of his hands; break the loins of his enemies that have risen up against him, and let not them that hate him rise up.
12 Sur Benjamin, il dit: "Favori du Seigneur, il repose avec confiance auprès de lui, qui lui prête son abri pour toujours et qui réside entre ses épaules."
And to Benjamin he said, The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in confidence, and God overshadows him always, and he rested between his shoulders.
13 Sur Joseph, il parla ainsi: "Bénie du Seigneur est sa terre! Elle possède les dons du ciel, la rosée, comme ceux de l’abîme aux couches souterraines:
And to Joseph he said, His land [is] of the blessing of the Lord, of the seasons of sky and dew, and of the deeps of wells below,
14 et les trésors que mûrit le soleil, et ceux qui germent à chaque lune;
and of the fruits of the changes of the sun in season, and of the produce of the months,
15 et les précieux produits des antiques montagnes, et les délices des collines primitives,
from the top of the ancient mountains, and from the top of the everlasting hills,
16 les délices du sol et son abondance, et la faveur de celui qui eut pour trône un buisson. Puisse-t-elle reposer sur la tête de Joseph, sur le front de l’élu de ses frères!
and of the fullness of the land in season: and let the things pleasing to him that lived in the bush come on the head of Joseph, and on the crown [of him who was] glorified above his brethren.
17 Le taureau, son premier-né qu’il est majestueux! Ses cornes sont celles du reêm: avec elles il terrassera les peuples, tous ensemble jusqu’aux confins de la terre. L’Une, ce sont les myriades d’Ephraïm, l’autre, les milliers de Manassé!"
His beauty [is as] the firstling of his bull, his horns [are] the horns of a unicorn; with them he shall thrust the nations at once, even from the end of the earth: these [are] the ten thousands of Ephraim, and these [are] the thousands of Manasse.
18 A Zabulon, il dit ces mots: "Sois heureux, Zabulon, dans tes voyages, et toi, Issachar, dans tes tentes!
And to Zabulon he said, Rejoice, Zabulon, in your going out, and Issachar in his tents.
19 Ils convieront des peuples sur la montagne, pour y offrir des sacrifices pieux; car ils aspireront l’opulence des mers et les mystérieux trésors cachés dans le sable."
They shall utterly destroy the nations, and you shall call [men] there, and there offer the sacrifice of righteousness; for the wealth of the sea shall suckle you, and so shall the marts of them that dwell by the sea-coast.
20 Au sujet de Gad, il dit: "Hommage à celui qui agrandit Gad! Il se campe comme un léopard, met en pièces et le bras et la tête.
And to Gad he said, Blessed [be] he that enlarges Gad: as a lion he rested, having broken the arm and the ruler.
21 Il s’est adjugé les prémices de la conquête, là est sa part, réservée par le législateur: il s’avance cependant aux premiers rangs du peuple, accomplissant l’œuvre sainte du Seigneur, fidèle à ses devoirs envers Israël!"
And he saw his first fruits, that there the land of the princes gathered with the chiefs of the people was divided; the Lord wrought righteousness, and his judgement with Israel.
22 Au sujet de Dan, il dit: "Dan est un jeune lion qui s’élance du Basan."
And to Dan he said, Dan [is] a lion's whelp, and shall leap out of Basan.
23 A Nephtali, il dit: "Ô Nephtali! Rassasié des grâces diverses, comblé des bénédictions du Seigneur, que le couchant et le midi soient ton héritage!"
And to Nephthali he said, Nephthali [has] the fulness of good things; and let him be filled with blessing from the Lord: he shall inherit the west and the south.
24 Et au sujet d’Asher, il dit: "Béni entre les fils soit Asher! Bienvenu auprès de ses frères, et baignant son pied dans l’huile.
And to Aser he said, Aser [is] blessed with children; and he shall be acceptable to his brethren: he shall dip his foot in oil.
25 Tes forts seront bardés de fer et d’airain; ta sécurité durera autant que ta vie.
His sandal shall be iron and brass; as your days, so [shall be] your strength.
26 "Rien n’égale le Tout-Puissant, ô Yechouroun! II est ton soutien, lui qui siège dans les cieux et dont la majesté plane sur les nues.
There is not [any such] as the God of the beloved; he who rides upon the heaven [is] your helper, and the magnificent One of the firmament.
27 Tu as pour refuge le Dieu primordial, pour support, ses bras éternels il écarte devant toi l’ennemi. II décrète sa ruine.
And the rule of God shall protect you, and [that] under the strength of the everlasting arms; and he shall cast forth the enemy from before your face, saying, Perish.
28 Et Israël réside avec sécurité, elle coule solitaire la source de Jacob, sur une terre riche de blé et de vin, sous des cieux qui lui versent la rosée.
And Israel shall dwell in confidence alone on the land of Jacob, with corn and wine; and the sky [shall be] misty with dew upon you.
29 Heureux es-tu, Israël! Qui est ton égal, peuple que protège le Seigneur? Bouclier qui te sauve, il est aussi le glaive qui te fait triompher: tes ennemis ramperont devant toi, et toi, tu fouleras leurs hauteurs."
Blessed [are] you, O Israel; who [is] like to you, O people saved by the Lord? your helper shall hold his shield over you, and [his] sword [is] your boast; and your enemies shall speak falsely to you, and you shall tread upon their neck.
