Deutéronome 14

1 "Vous êtes les enfants de l’Éternel, votre Dieu: ne vous tailladez point le corps, ne vous rasez pas entre les yeux, en l’honneur d’un mort.

Ye are sons of Jehovah your God: ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make any baldness between your eyes for a dead person.

2 Car tu es un peuple consacré à l’Éternel, ton Dieu, et c’est toi qu’il a choisi, l’Éternel, pour lui être un peuple spécial entre tous les peuples répandus sur la terre.

For thou art a holy people unto Jehovah thy God, and thee hath Jehovah chosen for a people of possession unto himself, out of all the peoples that are upon the face of the earth.

3 Tu ne mangeras d’aucune chose abominable.

Thou shalt not eat any abominable thing.

4 Voici les animaux dont vous pouvez manger: le bœuf, le menu bétail, brebis et chèvre;

These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat;

5 le cerf, le chevreuil, le daim, le bouquetin, l’antilope, l’aurochs, le zémer.

the hart, and the gazelle, and the stag, and the wild goat, and the dishon and the oryx, and the wild sheep.

6 Bref, tout quadrupède qui a le pied corné et divisé en deux ongles distincts, parmi les animaux ruminants, vous pouvez le manger.

And every beast that hath cloven hoofs, and the feet quite split open into double hoofs, [and] which cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that ye shall eat.

7 Mais vous ne mangerez point les suivants, qui ruminent ou qui ont l’ongle fendu seulement: le chameau, le lièvre, la gerboise (car ils ruminent, mais n’ont pas l’ongle fendu: ils seront impurs pour vous);

Only these ye shall not eat of those that chew the cud, or of those with hoofs cloven and split open: the camel, and the hare, and the rock-badger; for they chew the cud, but have not cloven hoofs — they shall be unclean unto you;

8 ni le porc, parce qu’il a l’ongle fendu, mais ne rumine point: il sera impur pour vous. Ne mangez point de leur chair, et ne touchez point à leur cadavre.

and the swine, for it hath cloven hoofs, yet cheweth not the cud — it shall be unclean unto you. Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch.

9 Voici ceux que vous mangerez, entre les animaux aquatiques: tout ce qui a des nageoires et des écailles, vous pouvez le manger;

These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales shall ye eat;

10 mais tout ce qui est privé de nageoires et d’écailles, vous n’en mangerez point: c’est impur pour vous.

but whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you.

11 Tout oiseau pur, vous pouvez le manger.

All clean birds shall ye eat.

12 Voici ceux que vous ne mangerez point: l’aigle, l’orfraie, la valérie;

But these are they of which ye shall not eat: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the sea-eagle,

13 le faucon, le vautour, l’autour selon ses espèces;

and the falcon, and the kite, and the black kite after its kind;

14 tous les corbeaux selon leurs espèces;

and every raven after its kind;

15 l’autruche, l’hirondelle, la mouette, l’épervier selon ses espèces;

and the female ostrich, and the male ostrich, and the sea-gull, and the hawk after its kind;

16 le hibou, la hulotte, le porphyrion;

the owl, and the ibis and the swan,

17 le pélican, le percnoptère, le cormoran;

and the pelican, and the carrion vulture, and the gannet,

18 la cigogne, le héron selon ses espèces, le tétras et la chauve-souris.

and the stork, and the heron after its kind, and the hoopoe, and the bat.

19 Tout insecte ailé sera impur pour vous, l’on n’en mangera point;

And every winged crawling thing shall be unclean unto you; they shall not be eaten.

20 mais tout volatile pur, vous pourrez le manger.

All clean fowls shall ye eat.

21 Vous ne mangerez d’aucune bête morte: donne-la à manger à l’étranger admis dans tes murs, ou vends-la à ceux du dehors, car tu es un peuple consacré à l’Éternel, ton Dieu. Tu ne feras pas cuire un chevreau dans le lait de sa mère.

Ye shall eat of no carcase; thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it, or sell it unto a foreigner; for thou art a holy people to Jehovah thy God. Thou shalt not boil a kid in its mother's milk.

22 Tu prélèveras la dîme du produit de ta semence, de ce qui vient annuellement sur ton champ,

Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, the produce of the field, year by year.

23 et tu la consommeras en présence de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, dans la localité qu’il aura choisie comme résidence de son nom; savoir, la dîme de ton blé, de ton vin et de ton huile, les premiers-nés de ton gros et de ton menu bétail, afin que tu t’accoutumes à honorer continuellement l’Éternel, ton Dieu.

And thou shalt eat before Jehovah thy God, in the place which he will choose to cause his name to dwell there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy new wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear Jehovah thy God continually.

24 Si le chemin, trop long pour toi, ne te permet pas ce transport, éloigné que tu seras du lieu choisi par l’Éternel, ton Dieu, comme siège de son nom, et parce que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’aura comblé de biens,

And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is too far from thee, which Jehovah thy God will choose to set his name there, when Jehovah thy God blesseth thee;

25 tu les convertiras en argent, tu réuniras la somme dans ta main, et tu iras à l’endroit que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, aura choisi.

then shalt thou give it for money, and bind the money together in thy hand, and go to the place which Jehovah thy God will choose,

26 Tu emploieras cet argent à telle chose qu’il te plaira, gros ou menu bétail, vins ou liqueurs fortes, enfin ce que ton goût réclamera, et tu le consommeras là, en présence de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, et tu te réjouiras avec ta famille.

and thou shalt give the money for whatever thy soul desireth, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatever thy soul asketh of thee; and thou shalt eat there before Jehovah thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thy house.

27 Et le Lévite qui sera dans tes murs, tu ne le négligeras pas, car il n’a point de part ni de patrimoine comme toi.

And thou shalt not forsake the Levite that is within thy gates; for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee.

28 A la fin de la troisième année, tu extrairas la dîme entière de tes produits de cette année et tu la déposeras dans tes murs,

At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates;

29 pour que le Lévite, qui n’a point de part ni de patrimoine comme toi, l’étranger, l’orphelin et la veuve qui sont dans tes murs, puissent venir manger et se rassasier; de la sorte, l’Éternel, ton Dieu, te bénira en toute œuvre que ta main pourra faire.

and the Levite — for he hath no portion nor inheritance with thee — and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, that are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that Jehovah thy God may bless thee in all the work of thy hand which thou doest.
