1 Sous son règne, Nabuchodonozor, roi de Babylone, fit une invasion, et Joïakim devint son vassal pendant trois ans; ensuite il se révolta contre lui.
In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim was his servant three years; then he turned and rebelled against him.
2 Alors l’Eternel lâcha contre lui les bandes des Chaldéens, des Syriens, des Moabites et des Ammonites: tous ceux-ci, il les mit en mouvement contre Juda pour amener sa ruine, selon la parole divine qu’il avait fait annoncer par l’organe de ses serviteurs les prophètes.
And Jehovah sent against him the bands of the Chaldeans, and the bands of the Syrians, and the bands of the Moabites, and the bands of the children of Ammon, and sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Jehovah, which he spoke through his servants the prophets.
3 Oui, c’était une sentence prononcée par l’Eternel contre Juda, de l’écarter de devant sa face, à cause de tous les péchés commis par Manassé,
Verily, at the commandment of Jehovah it came to pass against Judah, that they should be removed out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done;
4 et aussi à cause du sang innocent qu’il avait répandu et dont il avait inondé Jérusalem: l’Eternel ne voulut plus pardonner.
and also [because of] the innocent blood that he had shed; for he had filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and Jehovah would not pardon.
5 Les autres faits et gestes de Joïakim sont consignés dans le livre des annales des rois de Juda.
And the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
6 Joiakim s’endormit avec ses ancêtres, et son fils Joïachin régna à sa place.
And Jehoiakim slept with his fathers, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.
7 Dès lors, le roi d’Egypte ne continua plus à sortir de son pays, le roi de Babylone ayant conquis toutes les possessions du roi d’Egypte, depuis le torrent d’Egypte jusqu’au fleuve de l’Euphrate.
And the king of Egypt came not again any more out of his land, for the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt, from the torrent of Egypt to the river Euphrates.
8 Agé de dix-huit ans à son avènement, Joïachin régna trois mois à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Nehouchta, fille d’Elnathan, de Jérusalem.
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Nehushta, daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
9 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Eternel, tout comme avait agi son père.
And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that his father had done.
10 En ce temps, les serviteurs de Nabuchodonozor marchèrent contre Jérusalem, et cette ville subit un siège.
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
11 Nabuchodonozor, roi de Babylone, arriva lui-même pour attaquer la ville, pendant que ses serviteurs l’assiégeaient.
And Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came against the city, while his servants were besieging it.
12 Alors Joïachin, roi de Juda, sortit pour se rendre au roi de Babylone avec sa mère, ses serviteurs, ses grands et ses officiers; le roi de Babylone le fit prisonnier la huitième année de son règne.
And Jehoiachin king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he, and his mother, and his servants, and his princes, and his chamberlains; and the king of Babylon took him in the eighth year of his reign.
13 Il emporta de Jérusalem tous les trésors de la maison de Dieu, ainsi que les trésors du palais royal, et il mit en pièces tous les vases d’or faits par Salomon pour le sanctuaire divin. C’Est ce que l’Eternel avait prédit.
And he brought out thence all the treasures of the house of Jehovah, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of Jehovah, as Jehovah had said.
14 Il emmena en exil tout Jérusalem, tous les grands et tous les vaillants hommes de guerre, au nombre de dix mille exilés, ainsi que tous les forgerons et serruriers; il ne resta sur place que la classe inférieure de la population du pays.
And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained but the poorest sort of the people of the land.
15 Il envoya aussi Joïachin captif à Babylone; de même la mère du roi, les femmes du roi, ses eunuques et les personnages d’élite du pays, il les emmena en exil de Jérusalem à Babylone.
And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his chamberlains, and the mighty of the land, he led into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon;
16 En outre, tous les hommes de guerre, au nombre de sept mille, les forgerons et serruriers, au nombre de mille, tous gens vaillants, habitués à la guerre, le roi de Babylone les conduisit en captivité à Babylone.
and all the men of valour, seven thousand, and the craftsmen and smiths a thousand, all strong men apt for war, and the king of Babylon brought them captive to Babylon.
17 Le roi de Babylone établit comme roi, à la place de Joïachin, son oncle Mathania, dont il changea le nom en celui de Sédécias.
And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his uncle king in his stead, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
18 Sédécias avait vingt et un ans à son avènement, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; le nom de sa mère était Hamoutal, fille de Jérémie, de Libna.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Hamutal, daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
19 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Eternel, tout comme avait agi Joïakim.
And he did evil in the sight of Jehovah, according to all that Jehoiakim had done.
20 C’Est ainsi que la colère de Dieu se manifesta contre Jérusalem et Juda, jusqu’à ce qu’il les eût rejetés de devant sa face. Or, Sédécias entra en révolte contre le roi de Babylone.
For, because the anger of Jehovah was against Jerusalem and against Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
