2 Rois 18
1 Ce fut dans la troisième année du règne d’Osée, fils d’Ela, roi d’Israël, qu’Ezéchias, fils d’Achaz, roi de Juda, monta sur le trône.
And it was in year three of Hoshea [the] son of Elah [the] king of Israel he became king Hezekiah [the] son of Ahaz [the] king of Judah.
2 Agé de vingt-cinq ans à son avènement, il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem; sa mère se nommait Abi, fille de Zacharie.
A son of twenty and five year[s] he was when became king he and twenty and nine year[s] he reigned in Jerusalem and [the] name of mother his [was] Abi [the] daughter of Zechariah.
3 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l’Eternel, absolument comme avait agi David, son aïeul.
And he did the right in [the] eyes of Yahweh according to all that he had done David ancestor his.
4 C’Est lui qui fit disparaître les hauts-lieux, qui brisa les stèles, détruisit les Achêra et broya le serpent d’airain érigé par Moïse. Jusqu’à cette époque, en effet, les Israélites lui offraient de l’encens; on l’appelait nehouchtân.
He - he removed the high places and he broke the sacred pillars and he cut down the Asherah pole and he crushed to pieces [the] snake of bronze which he had made Moses for until the days those they were [the] people of Israel making smoke to it and someone had called it Nehushtan.
5 C’Est en l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, qu’il mit sa foi. Aucun ne l’égala parmi les rois de Juda qui lui succédèrent ou parmi ceux qui l’avaient précédé.
In Yahweh [the] God of Israel he trusted and after him not anyone was like him among all [the] kings of Judah and [those] who they were before him.
6 Il resta attaché à l’Eternel, sans se détourner de lui, observant ses commandements, que l’Eternel avait prescrits à Moïse.
And he clung to Yahweh not he turned aside from after him and he kept commandments his which he had commanded Yahweh Moses.
7 Aussi l’Eternel fut-il avec lui; tout ce qu’il entreprenait réussissait il se révolta contre le roi d’Assyrie et ne lui fut plus assujetti.
And he was Yahweh with him in all that he went out he prospered and he rebelled against [the] king of Assyria and not he served him.
8 C’Est lui qui battit les Philistins jusqu’à ce qu’il se fût emparé de Gaza et de son territoire, depuis la tour des guetteurs jusqu’à la ville fortifiée.
He he struck down [the] Philistines to Gaza and territories its from a tower of watchmen unto a city of fortification.
9 Ce fut pendant la quatrième année du règne d’Ezéchias, la septième d’Osée, fils d’Ela, roi d’Israël, que Salmanassar, roi d’Assyrie, fit campagne contre Samarie et l’assiégea.
And it was in the year fourth of the king Hezekiah it [was] the year seventh of Hoshea [the] son of Elah [the] king of Israel he came up Shalmaneser [the] king of Assyria on Samaria and he laid siege on it.
10 On s’en empara au bout de trois ans, dans la sixième année du règne d’Ezéchias; ce fut dans la neuvième année d’Osée, roi d’Israël, que Samarie fut prise.
And they captured it from [the] end of three years in year six of Hezekiah it [was] year nine of Hoshea [the] king of Israel it was captured Samaria.
11 Le roi d’Assyrie emmena Israël en exil dans le pays d’Assyrie; il le transporta à Halah, sur le Haber, rivière de Gozân, et dans les villes de la Médie,
And he took into exile [the] king of Assyria Israel Assyria towards and he led them in Halah and on [the] Habor [the] river of Gozan and [the] cities of Media.
12 parce qu’ils n’avaient pas obéi aux ordres de l’Eternel, leur Dieu, qu’ils avaient transgressé son alliance, tout ce qu’avait prescrit Moïse, serviteur de l’Eternel: ils n’avaient rien écouté ni pratiqué.
On - that not they had listened to [the] voice of Yahweh God their and they had transgressed covenant his all that he had commanded Moses [the] servant of Yahweh and not they listened and not they did.
13 Dans la quatorzième année du règne d’Ezéchias, Sennachérib, roi d’Assyrie, marcha contre toutes les villes fortes de la Judée et s’en empara.
And in four-teen year of the king Hezekiah he came up Sennacherib [the] king of Assyria on all [the] cities of Judah fortified and he seized them.
14 Ezéchias, roi de Juda, fit alors transmettre au roi d’Assyrie, à Lakhich, la déclaration suivante: "Je suis coupable; rebrousse chemin, et j’accepterai toutes les conditions que tu m’imposeras." Le roi d’Assyrie exigea alors d’Ezéchias, roi de Juda, trois cents kikkar d’argent et trente kikkar d’or.
And he sent Hezekiah [the] king of Judah to [the] king of Assyria - Lachish towards - saying - I have sinned turn back from on me [that] which you will put on me I will bear and he imposed [the] king of Assyria on Hezekiah [the] king of Judah three hundred talent[s] of silver and thirty talent[s] of gold.
15 Ezéchias livra tout l’argent qui se trouvait dans la maison de l’Eternel et dans les trésors du palais royal.
And he gave Hezekiah all the silver which was found [the] house of Yahweh and in [the] treasuries of [the] house of the king.
16 Ce fut en ce temps qu’Ezéchias dépouilla de leur or, pour le remettre au roi d’Assyrie, les portes du sanctuaire de Dieu et les linteaux que lui, Ezéchias, roi de Juda, avait fait revêtir de plaques.
At the time that he cut off Hezekiah [the] doors of [the] temple of Yahweh and the door-posts which he had overlaid Hezekiah [the] king of Judah and he gave them to [the] king of Assyria.
17 De Lakhich, le roi d’Assyrie envoya Tartân, Rabsaris et Rabchakè, avec une puissante armée, contre le roi Ezéchias à Jérusalem. Ils se mirent donc en marche et atteignirent Jérusalem. Arrivés là, ils s’établirent près de l’aqueduc de la Piscine supérieure, sur la route qui conduit au Champ des foulons.
And he sent [the] king of Assyria [the] commander in chief and [the] chief court-official - and [the] chief commander from Lachish to the king Hezekiah with an army massive Jerusalem and they went up and they came Jerusalem and they went up and they came and they stood at [the] conduit of the pool upper which [is] on [the] highway of [the] field of [the] washer.
18 Ils mandèrent le roi; ce furent Elyakim, fils de Hilkiyyahou, l’intendant du palais, Chebna, le secrétaire, et Yoah, fils d’Assaf, l’archiviste, qui se rendirent auprès d’eux.
And they called out to the king and he went out to them Eliakim [the] son of Hilkiah who [was] over the house and Shebna the scribe and Joah [the] son of Asaph the recorder.
19 Rabchakè leur dit: "Veuillez rapporter à Ezéchias ces paroles du grand roi, le roi d’Assyrie: Quel est donc l’appui dans lequel tu mets ta confiance?
And he said to them [the] chief commander say please to Hezekiah thus he says the king great [the] king of Assyria what? [is] the trust this which you trust.
20 Tu n’as proféré que de vaines paroles, lorsque la guerre exige, au contraire, de la prudence et de la force. Sur qui donc comptes-tu pour t’être révolté contre moi?
You have said only a word of lips counsel and strength for war now on whom? do you rely that you have rebelled against me.
21 Ah oui, tu espères prendre pour soutien ce roseau brisé, l’Egypte, qui, lorsque quelqu’un s’y appuie, pénètre dans la main et la transperce! Car tel est Pharaon, roi d’Egypte, pour tous ceux qui se fient à lui.
Now there! you rely yourself on [the] staff of reed crushed this on Egypt which he will support himself anyone on it and it will go in palm his and it will pierce it [is] thus Pharaoh [the] king of Egypt to all those [who] rely on him.
22 Vous me répliquerez peut-être: "Nous mettons notre confiance dans l’Eternel, notre Dieu!" Mais n’est-ce pas ce Dieu dont Ezéchias a fait disparaître les hauts-lieux et les autels en prescrivant aux gens de Juda et de Jérusalem de ne se prosterner que devant cet autel, à Jérusalem?
And if you will say! to me to Yahweh God our we trust ¿ not [is] he [the one] whom he has removed Hezekiah high places his and altars his and he has said to Judah and to Jerusalem before the altar this you will bow down in Jerusalem.
23 Eh bien! Prends donc cet engagement envers mon maître, le roi d’Assyrie: je te fournirai deux mille chevaux, si tu peux trouver des cavaliers pour les monter.
And therefore make a wager please with master my with [the] king of Assyria and let me give to you two thousand horses if you will be able to put yourself riders on them.
24 Tu ne serais pas capable de repousser un simple gouverneur, un des moindres serviteurs de mon maître, et tu comptes sur l’Egypte pour avoir des chars et des cavaliers!
And how? will you turn back [the] face of [the] governor one of [the] servants of master my small and you have been relying yourself on Egypt for chariotry and for horsemen.
25 D’Ailleurs, est-ce sans l’assentiment de l’Eternel que j’ai envahi ce pays pour le ravager? C’Est Dieu qui m’a dit: Marche contre cette région et saccage-la."
Now ¿ from without Yahweh have I come up on the place this to destroy it Yahweh he said to me go up on the land this and destroy it.
26 Elyakim, fils de Hilkiyyahou, Chebna et Yoah dirent alors à Rabchakè: "Daigne parler à tes serviteurs en araméen, nous le comprenons; mais ne nous parle pas en judéen, qu’entendent les gens qui se trouvent sur les remparts."
And he said Eliakim [the] son of Hilkiah and Shebna and Joah to [the] chief commander speak please to servants your Aramaic for [are] understanding we and may not you speak with us [in] Judean in [the] ears of the people which [is] on the wall.
27 Rabchakè leur répondit: "Est-ce à ton maître et à toi que mon souverain m’a donné le mandat de tenir ces discours? N’Est-ce pas plutôt à ceux qui sont installés sur les remparts, condamnés en votre compagnie à manger leurs excréments et à boire leur urine?
And he said to them [the] chief commander ¿ to master your and to you has he sent me master my to speak the words these ¿ not to the men who are sitting on the wall to eat (own excrement their *Q(K)*) and to drink ([the] water of feet their *Q(K)*) with you.
28 Puis, se mettant debout, il prononça d’une voix retentissante et avec insistance ces paroles en langue judaïque: "Ecoutez le message du grand roi, le roi d’Assyrie!
And he stood [the] chief commander and he called out with a voice great [in] Judean and he spoke and he said hear [the] word of the king great [the] king of Assyria.
29 Voici ce qu’il dit: Ne vous laissez pas abuser par Ezéchias, car il est incapable de vous sauver de sa main.
Thus he says the king may not he deceive you Hezekiah for not he will be able to deliver you from hand his.
30 Ne vous lassez pas non plus induire par lui à mettre votre confiance en Dieu, lorsqu’il vous déclare: L’Eternel nous délivrera certainement, et cette ville ne tombera pas au pouvoir du roi d’Assyrie.
And may not he make trust you Hezekiah to Yahweh saying certainly he will deliver us Yahweh and not it will be given the city this in [the] hand of [the] king of Assyria.
31 N’Écoutez pas Ezéchias, car voici ce que propose le roi d’Assyrie: Manifestez à mon égard des sentiments pacifiques, rendez-vous auprès de moi, et chacun mangera les produits de sa vigne et de son figuier, et chacun boira l’eau de sa citerne,
May not you listen to Hezekiah for thus he says [the] king of Assyria make with me a blessing and come out to me and eat everyone own vine his and everyone own fig tree his and drink everyone [the] water of own cistern his.
32 jusqu’à ce que je vienne vous emmener dans un pays semblable au vôtre, un pays de blé et de vin, un pays de pain et de vignes, un pays produisant l’huile d’olives et le miel. Vivez donc, ne vous laissez pas mourir, et n’écoutez pas Ezéchias quand il vous abuse par ces paroles: L’Eternel vous enverra le salut.
Until come I and I will take you to a land like own land your a land of grain and new wine a land of bread and vineyards a land of olive tree of fresh oil and honey and live and not you will die and may not you listen to Hezekiah for he misleads you saying Yahweh he will deliver us.
33 Quelque dieu des autres nations a-t-il pu protéger son pays contre le roi d’Assyrie?
¿ Really have they delivered [the] gods of the nations anyone land its from [the] hand of [the] king of Assyria.
34 Où sont donc les dieux de Hamat et d’Arpad, les dieux de Sefarvayim, de Hèna et d’Ivva? Ont-ils arraché Samarie à ma domination?
Where? [were] [the] gods of Hamath and Arpad where? [were] [the] gods of Sepharvaim Hena and Ivvah that they have delivered Samaria from hand my.
35 De tous les dieux de ces contrées, quel est celui qui a soustrait son pays à mon pouvoir? Et l’Eternel protègerait Jérusalem contre moi!"
Who? among all [the] gods of the lands [are those] which they have delivered land their from hand my that he will deliver Yahweh Jerusalem from hand my.
36 Le peuple garda le silence, personne ne dit mot, car tel était l’ordre du roi: "Vous ne lui répondrez rien."
And they kept silent the people and not they answered him anything for [was] [the] command of the king it saying not you must answer him.
37 Elyakim, fils de Hilkiyyahou, l’intendant du palais, Chebna, le secrétaire, et Yoah, fils d’Assaf, l’archiviste, retournèrent alors auprès d’Ezéchias, les vêtements déchirés, et lui rapportèrent les paroles de Rabchakè.
And he went Eliakim [the] son of Hilkiah who [was] over the house and Shebna the scribe and Joah [the] son of Asaph the recorder to Hezekiah torn of clothes and they told to him [the] words of [the] chief commander.
