1 Athalie, mère d’Achazia, voyant son fils mort, se mit à exterminer toute la race royale.
And Athaliah [the] mother of Ahaziah (she saw *Q(K)*) that he was dead son her and she arose and she destroyed all [the] offspring of royalty.
2 Mais Josabeth, fille du roi Joram et sœur d’Achazia, se saisit de Joas, fils d’Achazia, l’arracha furtivement d’entre les fils du roi, qui avaient été mis à mort, l’installa, lui et sa nourrice, dans la chambre des lits. On le déroba aux regards d’Athalie, et ainsi il échappa à la mort.
And she took Jehosheba [the] daughter of the king Joram [the] sister of Ahaziah Joash [the] son of Ahaziah and she stole him from among [the] sons of the king (who were about to be put to death *Q(K)*) him and suckling-nurse his in [the] chamber of the beds and they hid him from before Athaliah and not he was put to death.
3 Il resta avec elle dans le temple de l’Eternel, se tenant caché pendant six ans, tandis qu’Athalie régnait sur le pays.
And he was with her [the] house of Yahweh hiding himself six years and Athaliah [was] reigning over the land.
4 La septième année, Joïada envoya convoquer les centeniers des Cariens et des gardes et les fit entrer près de lui dans le temple de l’Eternel. Il conclut un pacte avec eux et leur fit prêter serment dans la maison de l’Eternel; puis il leur montra le fils du roi.
And in the year seventh he sent Jehoiada and he took - [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) of the Carian[s] and of the runners and he brought them to himself [the] house of Yahweh and he made to them a covenant and he made to swear an oath with them in [the] house of Yahweh and he showed them [the] son of the king.
5 Il leur donna les instructions suivantes: "Voici ce que vous ferez: un tiers d’entre vous, de ceux qui prennent la semaine, montera la garde à la maison du roi,
And he commanded them saying this [is] the thing which you will do! the third [part] of you [who] come the sabbath and [who] keep [the] watch of [the] house of the king.
6 un tiers à la porte de Sour et un tiers à la porte placée derrière les coureurs; vous exercerez votre surveillance sur la maison, du côté de l’entrée.
And the third [part] [will be] at [the] gate of Sur and the third [part] [will be] at the gate behind the runners and you will keep [the] watch of the house by turns.
7 Deux sections, composées de tous ceux qui quittent le service de la semaine, monteront la garde au temple de l’Eternel, à la disposition du roi.
And [the] two the hands in you all [those who] go out the sabbath and they will keep [the] watch of [the] house of Yahweh to the king.
8 Vous ferez cercle autour du roi, les armes à la main, et quiconque voudra fendre les rangs sera mis à mort; vous accompagnerez le roi dans toutes ses démarches."
And you will surround the king all around everyone and weapons his in hand his and the [one who] comes into the ranks he will be put to death and be with the king when goes out he and when comes he.
9 Les centeniers exécutèrent fidèlement les ordres donnés par Joïada, le prêtre; ils prirent chacun leurs hommes, ceux qui commençaient et ceux qui avaient fini la semaine, et ils vinrent près de Joïada, le prêtre.
And they did [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) according to all that he commanded Jehoiada the priest and they took each men his [those who] came the sabbath with [those who] went out the sabbath and they came to Jehoiada the priest.
10 Le prêtre délivra aux centeniers les lances et les boucliers déposés par David dans le temple de l’Eternel.
And he gave the priest to [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) the spear and the shields which [had belonged] to the king David which [were] in [the] house of Yahweh.
11 Les gardes, armes en main, rangés en partant du côté droit jusqu’au côté gauche du temple, devant l’autel et le sanctuaire, entouraient le roi.
And they stood the runners everyone - and weapons his in hand his from [the] side of the house south to [the] side of the house north to the altar and to the house at the king all around.
12 Joïada fit sortir le fils du roi et lui remit la couronne et le "témoignage"; on le proclama roi, on l’oignit, et, au milieu des applaudissements, on cria: "Vive le roi!"
And he brought out [the] son of the king and he put on him the crown and the testimony and they made king him and they anointed him and they struck a palm and they said may he live the king.
13 Athalie, entendant la voix des gardes et du peuple, accourut au milieu de la foule dans le temple de l’Eternel.
And she heard Athaliah [the] sound of the runners the people and she went to the people [the] house of Yahweh.
14 Elle regarda et vit ce spectacle: le roi debout sur l’estrade selon l’usage, les chefs et les trompettes acclamant le roi, toute la foule manifestant sa joie en sonnant de la trompette. A cette vue, Athalie déchira ses vêtements et s’écria: "Trahison, trahison!"
And she saw and there! the king [was] standing at the pillar according to the custom and the commanders and the trumpets [were] with the king and all [the] people of the land [was] joyful and [was] giving a blast on trumpets and she tore Athaliah clothes her and she called out treason treason.
15 Joïada, le pontife, adressa aux centeniers qui commandaient les troupes l’ordre suivant: "Faites-la sortir des rangs, et qui la suivra, qu’on l’exécute avec le glaive!" Car le pontife avait recommandé qu’elle ne fût pas mise à mort dans la maison de l’Eternel.
And he commanded Jehoiada the priest [the] commanders of (the hundreds *Q(k)*) [the] officers of the army and he said to them bring out her to from between to the ranks and the [one who] comes behind her put to death with the sword for he had said the priest may not she be put to death [the] house of Yahweh.
16 On fit place devant elle, et elle prit le chemin de l’entrée des chevaux pour se rendre au palais royal; là, elle fut mise à mort.
And they put to her hands and she went [the] way of [the] entrance of the horses [the] house of the king and she was put to death there.
17 Joïada conclut un pacte entre l’Eternel, le roi et le peuple, celui-ci devenant le peuple de l’Eternel, et entre le roi et le peuple.
And he made Jehoiada the covenant between Yahweh and between the king and between the people to become a people of Yahweh and between the king and between the people.
18 Toute la foule pénétra dans le temple de Baal et le saccagea; on brisa complètement ses autels et ses statues, on tua devant les autels Mâtan, prêtre de Baal. Le pontife plaça des surveillants dans la maison de l’Eternel.
And they went all [the] people of the land [the] house of Baal and they pulled down it (altars its *Q(K)*) and images its they broke thoroughly and Mattan [the] priest of Baal they killed before the altars and he appointed the priest overseers over [the] house of Yahweh.
19 Sur son ordre, les centeniers, les Cariens, les gardes et les gens du peuple conduisirent le roi de la maison de l’Eternel, par le chemin de la porte des gardes, au palais royal; là, il s’assit sur le trône des rois.
And he took [the] commanders of the hundreds and the Carian[s] and the runners and - all [the] people of the land and they took down the king from [the] house of Yahweh and they came [the] way of [the] gate of the runners [the] house of the king and he sat on [the] throne of the kings.
20 Tout le peuple se réjouit et la ville retrouva le calme. Quant à Athalie, on l’avait fait mourir par le glaive dans le palais royal.
And it rejoiced all [the] people of the land and the city it was at peace and Athaliah they had put to death with the sword [the] house of (the king. *Q(K)*)
21 Joas avait sept ans quand il devint roi.
[was] a son of Seven years Jehoash when became king he.
