2 Chroniques 9
1 La reine de Saba, instruite de la renommée de Salomon, et voulant l’éprouver en lui proposant des énigmes, se rendit à Jérusalem avec une nombreuse suite et des chameaux, chargés d’aromates, d’or en grande quantité, de pierres précieuses. Elle arriva auprès de Salomon et lui exposa toutes ses pensées.
And the queen of Sheba has heard of the fame of Solomon, and comes to Jerusalem to try Solomon with acute sayings, with a very great company, and camels carrying spices and gold in abundance, and precious stone; and she comes to Solomon, and speaks with him all that has been with her heart,
2 Salomon satisfit à toutes ses questions; pas un seul point qui fût obscur pour lui et dont il ne lui donnât la solution.
and Solomon declares all her matters to her, and there has not been hid a thing from Solomon that he has not declared to her.
3 La reine de Saba, voyant la sagesse de Salomon, la maison qu’il avait édifiée,
And the queen of Sheba sees the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he has built,
4 l’approvisionnement de sa table, la situation de ses officiers, les fonctions et le costume de ses serviteurs, ses échansons et leur costume, les sacrifices offerts par lui dans la maison de l’Eternel, fut transportée d’admiration,
and the food of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the standing of his ministers, and their clothing, and his stewards, and their clothing, and his burnt-offering that he offered up in the house of YHWH, and there has not been anymore spirit in her.
5 et dit au roi: "C’Était donc vrai, ce que j’ai entendu dire, dans mon pays, de tes discours et de ta sagesse!
And she says to the king, “The word [is] true that I heard in my land concerning your matters and concerning your wisdom,
6 Je ne croyais pas à ces propos, avant d’être venue ici et d’avoir vu de mes yeux; or, on ne m’avait pas dit la moitié de ta vaste sagesse; tu as dépassé la renommée qui m’avait informée.
and I have given no credence to their words until I have come and my eyes see, and behold, there has not been declared to me the half of the abundance of your wisdom—you have added to the report that I heard.
7 Heureux tes gens, heureux tes serviteurs que voici, qui t’entourent sans cesse et entendent tes sages paroles!
O the blessedness of your men, and the blessedness of your servants—these—who are standing before you continually, and hearing your wisdom.
8 Loué soit l’Eternel, ton Dieu, qui t’a pris en affection et placé sur son trône pour être roi, par la grâce de l’Eternel, ton Dieu. C’Est parce qu’il aime Israël et veut le conserver à jamais, que ton Dieu t’a mis à sa tête comme roi, pour que tu exerces le droit et la justice."
Let your God YHWH be blessed who has delighted in you to put you on His throne for king for your God YHWH; in the love of your God to Israel, to establish it for all time, He has put you over them for king, to do judgment and righteousness.”
9 Et elle fit présent au roi de cent vingt kikkar d’or, d’aromates en très grande quantité et de pierres précieuses; il n’y eut jamais autant d’aromates que ceux-là, offerts par la reine de Saba au roi Salomon.
And she gives to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices in great abundance, and precious stone; and there has not been any such spice as the queen of Sheba has given to King Solomon.
10 (En outre, les serviteurs de Houram et ceux de Salomon, qui rapportaient de l’or d’Ophir, en rapportaient aussi du bois de sandal et des pierres précieuses.
And also, servants of Huram, and servants of Solomon, who brought in gold from Ophir, have brought in algum-trees and precious stone.
11 De ce bois de sandal le roi fit des parquets pour la maison du Seigneur et la maison royale, des harpes et des luths pour les chantres. On n’a pas vu auparavant de bois semblable dans le pays de Juda.)
And the king makes the algum-trees [into] staircases for the house of YHWH, and for the house of the king, and harps and psalteries for singers; and there have been none seen like these before in the land of Judah.
12 A son tour, le roi Salomon donna à la reine de Saba tout ce qu’elle désirait et avait demandé, outre ce qu’il offrit en retour de ce qu’elle avait apporté au roi. Elle s’en retourna dans son pays avec ses serviteurs.
And King Solomon has given to the queen of Sheba all her desire that she asked, apart from that which she had brought to the king, and she turns and goes to her land, she and her servants.
13 Le poids de l’or reçu annuellement par Salomon s’élevait à six cent soixante-six kikkar,
And the weight of the gold that is coming to Solomon in one year is six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,
14 non compris les redevances des marchands voyageurs et des colporteurs, et ce que les rois de l’Arabie et les gouverneurs du pays apportaient en or et en argent à Salomon.
apart from [what] the tourists and the merchants are bringing in; and all the kings of Arabia, and the governors of the land, are bringing in gold and silver to Solomon.
15 Le roi Salomon fit confectionner deux cents boucliers longs en or battu, en employant pour chaque bouclier six cents sicles d’or battu,
And King Solomon makes two hundred bucklers of alloyed gold—he causes six hundred [shekels] of alloyed gold to go up on the one buckler;
16 et trois cents autres boucliers en or battu, pour chacun desquels il employa trois cents sicles d’or. Le roi les fit placer dans "la maison de la Forêt du Liban".
and three hundred shields of alloyed gold—he causes three hundred [shekels] of gold to go up on the one shield, and the king puts them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
17 Le roi fit aussi faire un grand trône d’ivoire, qu’on recouvrit d’or pur.
And the king makes a great throne of ivory, and overlays it with pure gold;
18 Six degrés conduisaient à ce trône; un marchepied en or était fixé à ce même trône; des deux côtés du siège se trouvaient des bras, près desquels se tenaient deux lions,
and six steps [are] to the throne, and a footstool of gold, [and] they are fastened to the throne; and [places for] hands [are] on this [side] and on that [side] on the place of the sitting, and two lions are standing near the hands,
19 et douze lions étaient rangés, de part et d’autre, sur les six degrés. Pareille chose n’avait été faite dans aucun royaume.
and twelve lions are standing there on the six steps on this [side] and on that [side]: it has not been made so for any kingdom.
20 Tous les vases à boire du roi Salomon étaient en or, et toute la vaisselle dans la maison de la Forêt du Liban était de l’or le plus fin. Point d’argent: il n’avait aucune valeur du temps de Salomon.
And all the drinking vessels of King Solomon [are] of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon [are] of refined gold—silver is not reckoned in the days of Solomon for anything;
21 De fait, le roi avait une flotte à destination de Tarsis, naviguant de concert avec les serviteurs de Houram, et qui revenait tous les trois ans avec une cargaison d’or et d’argent, d’ivoire, de singes et de paons.
for ships of the king are going to Tarshish with servants of Huram: once in three years the ships of Tarshish come carrying gold, and silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks [[or monkeys]].
22 Le roi Salomon surpassa tous les rois de la terre en opulence et en sagesse.
And King Solomon becomes greater than any of the kings of the earth for riches and wisdom;
23 Et tous les rois de la terre venaient rendre visite à Salomon, pour jouir de la sagesse que Dieu avait mise en son cœur.
and all the kings of the earth are seeking the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom that God has put in his heart,
24 Et chacun d’eux lui apportait comme hommage des objets d’argent et d’or, des vêtements, des armes, des aromates, des chevaux, des mulets, et cela chaque année.
and they are each bringing in his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
25 Salomon posséda quatre mille crèches pour les chevaux de trait, des chars et douze mille cavaliers les fit stationner dans les dépôts de chars et en garda près de lui à Jérusalem.
And there are four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen for Solomon, and he placed them in cities of the chariot, and with the king in Jerusalem.
26 Il eut autorité sur tous les rois, depuis le Fleuve jusqu’au pays des Philistins et jusqu’à la frontière d’Egypte.
And he is ruling over all the kings from the River even to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
27 Le roi rendit l’argent à Jérusalem aussi commun que les pierres, et les cèdres aussi nombreux que les sycomores dans la Plaine.
And the king makes the silver in Jerusalem as stones, and he has made the cedars as sycamores that [are] in the low country, for abundance,
28 C’Était de l’Egypte qu’on tirait les chevaux pour Salomon ainsi que de tous les autres pays.
and they are bringing out horses from Egypt to Solomon, and from all the lands.
29 Pour le reste de l’histoire de Salomon, depuis le début jusqu’à la fin, il est consigné dans le récit du prophète Nathan, dans la prophétie d’Ahiyya, de Silo, et dans les visions du Voyant Yédo concernant Jéroboam, fils de Nebat.
And the rest of the matters of Solomon, the first and the last, are they not written beside the matters of Nathan the prophet, and beside the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and with the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam son of Nebat?
30 Salomon régna à Jérusalem, sur tout Israël, pendant quarante années.
And Solomon reigns in Jerusalem over all Israel [for] forty years,
31 Puis, Salomon s’endormit avec ses pères; et fut enseveli dans la Cité de David. Il eut pour successeur son fils Roboam.
and Solomon lies with his fathers, and they bury him in the city of his father David, and his son Rehoboam reigns in his stead.
