1 Or, au bout des vingt ans employés par Salomon à construire la maison du Seigneur et son propre palais,
And it came to pass, at the end of twenty years, wherein Solomon had built the house of Yahweh, and his own house,
2 Salomon fortifia les villes que lui avait cédées Houram, roi de Tyr, et les peupla d’Israélites.
that, the cities which Huram had given to Solomon, Solomon built them, —and caused, the sons of Israel, to dwell there.
3 Puis, Salomon marcha contre Hamat-Çoba et s’en rendit maître.
And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, —and prevailed against it;
4 Il bâtit le Tadmor du désert ainsi que toutes les villes d’approvisionnement qu’il éleva dans le pays de Hamat.
and he built Tadmor, in the wilderness, —and all the store cities, which he built in Hamath;
5 Il bâtit le Beth-Horôn supérieur et le Beth-Horôn inférieur, villes fortes munies de murailles, de portes et de verrous,
and he built Beth-horon, the upper, and Beth-horon, the nether, —fortified cities, with walls, and doors and bars;
6 de même Baalat et toutes les autres villes d’approvisionnement de Salomon, toutes les villes de chariots, celles des cavaliers, bref, tout ce qu’il plaisait à Salomon de construire à Jérusalem, au Liban et dans tout le pays soumis à sa domination.
and Baalath, and all the store cities which pertained to Solomon, and all the chariot cities, and the cities of the horsemen, —and every delight of Solomon which he delighted to build in Jerusalem, and in the Lebanon, and in all the land of his dominion.
7 Toute la population survivante des Héthéens, des Amorréens, des Phérézéens, des Hévéens et des Jébuséens, lesquels ne font point partie des enfants d’Israël,
As for all the people that were left, of the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, who were not, of Israel; —
8 leurs descendants qui étaient restés après eux dans le pays et que les enfants d’Israël n’avaient pas exterminés, Salomon les obligea à payer tribut; ce qu’ils font encore aujourd’hui.
of their sons who were left after them in the land, whom the sons of Israel had not utterly destroyed, Solomon enrolled them as tributary—unto this day.
9 Pour les enfants d’Israël, Salomon n’en employa point comme esclaves pour ses travaux; ils étaient seulement ses hommes de guerre, ses fonctionnaires, capitaines, commandants de ses chars et de sa cavalerie.
But, of the sons of Israel, were there none whom he delivered up as bondmen unto his work, —for, they, were men of war, and his captains and his heroes, and captains over his chariots, and his horsemen.
10 Les surveillants en chef du roi Salomon étaient au nombre de deux cent cinquante, chargés de diriger le peuple.
These, moreover, were the chiefs of his officers whom King Solomon had, two hundred and fifty, —who wielded dominion over the people.
11 Quant à la fille de Pharaon, Salomon lui fit quitter la Cité de David pour l’installer dans la demeure qu’il lui avait construite, "car, disait-il, je ne dois pas laisser résider une femme dans les demeures de David, roi d’Israël, devenues sacrées depuis que l’arche du Seigneur y a été transférée".
And, the daughter of Pharaoh, Solomon brought up, out of the city of David, unto the house which he had built for her, —for he said, A wife of mine must not dwell in the house of David king of Israel, for holy are those places whereinto the ark of Yahweh hath come.
12 Dès lors, Salomon offrait des holocaustes au Seigneur, sur l’autel qu’il lui avait élevé devant le portique;
Then, Solomon offered up ascending-sacrifices, unto Yahweh, —upon the altar of Yahweh, which he had built before the porch:
13 en se conformant au rite de chaque jour, il les offrait, selon les prescriptions de Moïse, les jours du Sabbat et des néoménies et aux fêtes qui se suivent trois fois par an, à la fête des Azymes, à la fête des Semaines et à la fête des Tabernacles.
even according to the duty of each a day upon [its own] day, offering up according to the commandment of Moses, for the sabbaths, and for the new moons, and for the appointed feasts, three times in the year, —in the festival of unleavened cakes and in the festival of weeks, and in the festival of booths;
14 En vertu de la réglementation de son père David, il installa les sections de prêtres dans leur service et les Lévites dans leurs charges, consistant à réciter les cantiques et à faire le service concurremment avec les prêtres, selon le rite de chaque jour; il posta aussi les portiers par escouades à chacune des portes, comme l’avait ordonné David, l’homme de Dieu.
and he caused to stand, according to the regulation of David his father, the courses of the priests over their service and of the Levites over their charges, to offer praise and to minister before the priests, for the duty of each day upon its own day, and the gate-keepers in their courses, at every several gate, —for, such, was the commandment of David the man of God;
15 On ne s’écarta en rien des prescriptions du roi David, concernant les prêtres et les Lévites, et notamment les trésors.
neither departed they from the commandment of the king, concerning the priests and the Levites as to any duty, or as to the treasuries.
16 l’œuvre entière de Salomon fut accomplie à ce jour: la fondation de la maison du Seigneur jusqu’à son achèvement. La maison du Seigneur se trouva complète.
So all the work of Solomon was prepared, from the day of founding the house of Yahweh, even as far as the finishing thereof, —complete was the house of Yahweh.
17 Alors Salomon se rendit à Ecion-Ghéber et à Elot, au bord de la mer dans le pays d’Edom.
Then, went Solomon to Ezion-geber, and unto Eloth on the seashore in the land of Edom.
18 Houram lui expédia, par ses serviteurs, des vaisseaux et des matelots experts dans la marine, qui se rendirent avec les serviteurs de Salomon à Ophir, d’où ils emportèrent quatre cent cinquante kikkar d’or, qu’ils remirent au roi Salomon.
And Huram sent him—by the hand of his servants—ships, and servants skilled in the sea, and they came, with the servants of Solomon, towards Ophir, and took from thence, four hundred and fifty talents of gold, —and brought unto King Solomon.
