2 Chroniques 30

1 Ezéchias envoya un message à tout Israël et Juda; il écrivit aussi des lettres à Ephraïm et Manassé, les invitant à venir au temple de l’Eternel à Jérusalem, pour célébrer la Pâque en l’honneur de l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël.

And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto Jehovah, the God of Israel.

2 Le roi et ses chefs et toute la communauté de Jérusalem furent d’avis de célébrer la Pâque au second mois.

For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the assembly in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.

3 Car ils n’avaient pu la célébrer en ce temps-là, parce que les prêtres ne s’étaient pas sanctifiés en nombre suffisant et que le peuple ne s’était pas réuni à Jérusalem.

For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

4 La chose plut aux yeux du roi et aux yeux de toute l’assemblée,

And the thing was right in the eyes of the king and of all the assembly.

5 et ils décidèrent de proclamer par tout Israël, de Bersabée à Dan, qu’on eût à venir célébrer la Pâque en l’honneur de l’Eternel, Dieu d’Israël, à Jérusalem, car on ne l’avait pas de longtemps célébrée ainsi qu’il était écrit.

So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto Jehovah, the God of Israel, at Jerusalem: for they had not kept it in great numbers in such sort as it is written.

6 Les courriers partirent, nantis des lettres de la main du roi et de ses chefs, dans tout Israël et Juda, pour dire, conformément à l’ordonnance du roi: "Enfants d’Israël, revenez à l’Eternel, Dieu d’Abraham, d’Isaac et d’Israël, afin qu’il revienne à ce reste de vous qui a pu échapper à la main des rois d’Assyrie.

So the posts went with the letters from the king and his princes throughout all Israel and Judah, and according to the commandment of the king, saying, Ye children of Israel, turn again unto Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may return to the remnant that are escaped of you out of the hand of the kings of Assyria.

7 Ne soyez point semblables à vos pères et à vos frères, qui furent infidèles à l’Eternel, Dieu de leurs pères, de sorte qu’il les livra à la désolation, comme vous le voyez.

And be not ye like your fathers, and like your brethren, who trespassed against Jehovah, the God of their fathers, so that he gave them up to desolation, as ye see.

8 A présent, ne roidissez pas votre nuque comme vos pères; tendez la main vers l’Eternel, venez dans son sanctuaire, qu’il a consacré à jamais, servez l’Eternel, votre Dieu, afin qu’il détourne de vous le feu de sa colère.

Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were; but yield yourselves unto Jehovah, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever, and serve Jehovah your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.

9 C’Est par votre retour à l’Eternel que vos frères et vos enfants trouveront de la pitié auprès de leurs ravisseurs, de façon à retourner dans ce pays, car clément et miséricordieux est l’Eternel, votre Dieu, et il ne détournera pas sa face de vous, si vous revenez à lui."

For if ye turn again unto Jehovah, your brethren and your children shall find compassion before them that led them captive, and shall come again into this land: for Jehovah your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if ye return unto him.

10 Les courriers passèrent de ville en ville dans le pays d’Ephraïm et de Manassé jusqu’en Zabulon, mais on se railla d’eux et on les bafoua.

So the posts passed from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, even unto Zebulun: but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.

11 Seuls des hommes d’Aser, de Manassé et de Zabulon s’humilièrent et vinrent à Jérusalem.

Nevertheless certain men of Asher and Manasseh and of Zebulun humbled themselves, and came to Jerusalem.

12 En Juda aussi la main de Dieu agit pour leur donner un même cœur, afin d’accomplir l’ordre du roi et des chefs selon la prescription de l’Eternel.

Also upon Judah came the hand of God to give them one heart, to do the commandment of the king and of the princes by the word of Jehovah.

13 Une population nombreuse se réunit à Jérusalem pour célébrer la fête des azymes au second mois; ce fut une affluence énorme.

And there assembled at Jerusalem much people to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly.

14 Ils se levèrent, ôtèrent les autels qui se trouvaient à Jérusalem; ils enlevèrent aussi les encensoirs et les jetèrent au torrent du Cédron.

And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

15 Puis ils immolèrent le sacrifice pascal le quatorze du second mois; les prêtres et les Lévites eurent honte, se sanctifièrent et apportèrent des holocaustes au temple de l’Eternel.

Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth [day] of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought burnt-offerings into the house of Jehovah.

16 Ils se tinrent à leur place selon leur règle, conformément à la loi de Moïse, homme de Dieu; les prêtres versaient le sang que leur passaient les Lévites.

And they stood in their place after their order, according to the law of Moses the man of God: the priests sprinkled the blood [which they received] of the hand of the Levites.

17 Car il y en avait beaucoup dans l’assemblée qui ne s’étaient point sanctifiés, et les Lévites étaient chargés d’immoler les sacrifices pascaux pour tous ceux qui n’étaient pas purs, afin de les consacrer à l’Eternel.

For there were many in the assembly that had not sanctified themselves: therefore the Levites had the charge of killing the passovers for every one that was not clean, to sanctify them unto Jehovah.

18 Une grande partie du peuple, beaucoup de gens d’Ephraïm et de Manassé, d’Issachar et de Zabulon, ne s’étaient pas purifiés; ils avaient mangé l’agneau pascal sans égard aux prescriptions; mais Ezéchias avait intercédé pour eux, disant: "L’Eternel, qui est bon, absoudra

For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim and Manasseh, Issachar and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it is written. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, The good Jehovah pardon every one

19 quiconque aura disposé son cœur à rechercher l’Eternel, Dieu de ses pères, même sans la purification de sainteté."

that setteth his heart to seek God, Jehovah, the God of his fathers, though [he be] not [cleansed] according to the purification of the sanctuary.

20 L’Eternel exauça Ezéchias et pardonna au peuple.

And Jehovah hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

21 Les enfants d’Israël se trouvant à Jérusalem célébrèrent donc la fête des Azymes sept jours, en grande joie, et les Lévites et les prêtres louèrent l’Eternel jour par jour, avec des instruments puissants en l’honneur de l’Eternel.

And the children of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised Jehovah day by day, [singing] with loud instruments unto Jehovah.

22 Ezéchias adressa des encouragements à tous les Lévites qui se montraient très entendus au service de l’Eternel. Ils consommèrent les repas de la fête durant les sept jours, offrant des sacrifices d’actions de grâces et rendant hommage à l’Eternel, Dieu de leurs pères.

And Hezekiah spake comfortably unto all the Levites that had good understanding [in the service] of Jehovah. So they did eat throughout the feast for the seven days, offering sacrifices of peace-offerings, and making confession to Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

23 Toute l’assemblée fut d’accord pour célébrer sept autres jours, et ils célébrèrent sept jours de réjouissances.

And the whole assembly took counsel to keep other seven days; and they kept [other] seven days with gladness.

24 Car Ezéchias, roi de Juda, avait prélevé pour l’assemblée mille taureaux et sept mille moutons, les chefs avaient prélevé pour l’assemblée mille taureaux et dix mille moutons et des prêtres s’étaient sanctifiés en grand nombre.

For Hezekiah king of Judah did give to the assembly for offerings a thousand bullocks and seven thousand sheep; and the princes gave to the assembly a thousand bullocks and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

25 Toute l’assemblée de Juda se réjouit, ainsi que les prêtres, les Lévites, toute la foule venue du pays d’Israël et les étrangers, ceux qui étaient venus du pays d’Israël et ceux qui résidaient en Juda.

And all the assembly of Judah, with the priests and the Levites, and all the assembly that came out of Israel, and the sojourners that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.

26 Il y eut une grande joie à Jérusalem, car depuis le temps de Salomon, fils de David, roi d’Israël, il n’y avait rien eu de semblable à Jérusalem.

So there was great joy in Jerusalem; for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there was not the like in Jerusalem.

27 Les prêtres et les Lévites se levèrent et bénirent le peuple; leur voix fut entendue et leur prière parvint au séjour de Sa sainteté, aux cieux.

Then the priests the Levites arose and blessed the people: and their voice was heard, and their prayer came up to his holy habitation, even unto heaven.
