1 Samuel 29

1 Les Philistins concentrèrent toutes leurs troupes à Aphek, tandis que les Israélites étaient campés près de la source qui est à Jezreël.

Therfor alle the cumpenyes of Filisteis weren gaderid in Aphec, but also Israel settide tentis aboue the welle that was in Jezrael.

2 Les princes des Philistins s’avancèrent avec leurs troupes de cent et de mille; David et ses hommes formaient l’arrière-garde avec Akhich.

And sotheli the princis of Filisteis yeden in cumpenyes of an hundrid, and in thousyndis; forsothe Dauid and hise men weren in the laste cumpenye with Achis.

3 Les chefs des Philistins dirent: "Qu’est-ce que ces Hébreux?" Akhich leur répondit: "Mais c’est David, le serviteur de Saül, roi d’Israël, qui a été auprès de moi bien des jours et même des années, et chez qui je n’ai rien trouvé à reprendre depuis son arrivée jusqu’à ce jour."

And the princes of Filisteis seiden to Achis, What wolen these Ebreis to hem silf? And Achis seide to the princes of Filisteis, Whether ye knowen not Dauid, that was the seruaunt of Saul, kyng of Israel? and he was with me in many daies, `ether yeeris, and Y foond not in hym ony thing, fro the dai, in which he fledde to me `til to this dai.

4 Les chefs des Philistins se mirent en colère contre lui et lui dirent: "Fais repartir cet homme; qu’il retourne à l’endroit que tu lui as assigné, mais qu’il ne nous accompagne pas à la guerre et ne devienne pas un obstacle contre nous dans le combat; car, comment cet homme se ferait-il bien venir de son maître, si ce n’est avec les têtes de nos soldats?

Sotheli the princes of Filisteis weren wrooth ayens hym, and seiden to hym, The man turne ayen, and sitte in his place, in which thou hast ordened hym, and come he not down with vs in to batel, lest he be maad aduersarie to vs, whanne we han bigunne to fiyte; for hou mai he plese his lord in other maner, no but in oure heedis?

5 N’Est-ce pas ce même David que les chœurs acclamaient en disant: "Saül a battu ses mille, Et David ses myriades?"

Whether this is not Dauid, to whom thei sungen in daunsis, and seiden, Saul smoot in thousyndis, and Dauid smoot in hise ten thousyndis?

6 Akhich appela David et lui dit: "Par le Dieu vivant! Tu es honnête, ta conduite auprès de moi dans l’armée me plaît, et je n’ai rien trouvé à te reprocher depuis le jour de ton arrivée chez moi jusqu’à ce jour; mais tu n’es pas agréable aux princes.

Therfor Achis clepide Dauid, and seide to hym, The Lord lyueth; for thou art riytful, and good in my siyt, and thi goyng out and `thin entryng is with me in castels, and Y `foond not in thee ony thing of yuel, fro the day in which thou camest to me til to this dai; but thou plesist not the princis.

7 Repars donc et va en paix, pour ne pas mécontenter les princes des Philistins.

Therfor turne thou ayen, and go in pees, and offende thou not the iyen of princis of Filisteis.

8 Mais, dit David à Akhich, qu’ai-je fait et qu’as-tu trouvé en ton serviteur, du jour où j’ai paru devant toi jusqu’à présent, pour que je ne puisse aller me battre contre les ennemis de mon seigneur le roi?"

And Dauid seide to Achis, Forsothe what `dide Y, and what hast thou founde in me thi seruaunt, fro the dai in which Y was in thi siyt til in to this dai, that Y come not, and fiyte ayens the enemyes of my lord the kyng?

9 Akhich, reprenant la parole, dit à David: "Je le sais, tu me plais autant que le ferait un ange de Dieu; mais les chefs des Philistins ont dit: Il ne doit pas aller en guerre avec nous.

Forsothe Achis answeride, and spak to Dauid, Y woot that thou art good, and as the aungel of God in my iyen; but the princes of Filisteis seyden, He schal not stie with vs in to batel.

10 Donc, lève-toi demain de bonne heure avec les serviteurs de ton maître, venus avec toi; vous vous lèverez matin, et, le jour venu, vous partirez."

Therfor rise thou eerli, thou, and thi seruauntis that camen with thee; and whanne ye han ryse bi nyyt, and it bigynneth to be cleer, go ye.

11 Et David se leva de bonne heure ainsi que ses hommes pour se mettre en route le matin et retourner au pays des Philistins, tandis que ceux-ci montaient vers Jezreël.

Therfor Dauid roos bi nyyt, he and hise men, that thei schulden go forth eerli, and turne ayen to the lond of Fylisteis; sotheli Filisteis stieden in to Jezrael.
