1 Samuel 26
1 Les gens de Ziph vinrent trouver Saül à Ghibea pour lui dire que David se tenait caché sur la colline de Hakhila, à la lisière du désert.
And the Ziphites come to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding himself in the height of Hachilah, on the front of the desert?”
2 Et Saül se mit en marche, suivi de trois mille hommes de l’élite d’Israël, et descendit vers le désert de Ziph pour y chercher David.
And Saul rises, and goes down to the wilderness of Ziph, and with him [are] three thousand men, chosen ones of Israel, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
3 Saül campa sur la colline de Hakhila qui fait face au désert, sur le chemin, et David, qui se tenait dans le désert, vit que Saül l’y poursuivait.
And Saul encamps in the height of Hachilah, which [is] on the front of the desert, by the way, and David is abiding in the wilderness, and he sees that Saul has come into the wilderness after him;
4 Il envoya des espions et connut avec certitude l’arrivée de Saül.
and David sends spies, and knows that Saul has come to Nachon,
5 Alors David se leva et pénétra jusqu’au lieu où campait Saül. Il vit la place où Saül reposait ainsi qu’Abner, fils de Ner, son général; Saül était couché dans l’enceinte, et sa troupe campait autour de lui.
and David rises, and comes to the place where Saul has encamped, and David sees the place where Saul has lain, and Abner son of Ner, head of his host, and Saul is lying in the path, and the people are encamping around him.
6 David, prenant la parole, dit au Héthéen Ahimélec et à Abisaï, fils de Cerouya, frère de Joab: "Qui veut descendre avec moi vers Saül, à son campement? Moi! dit Abisaï; j’irai avec toi."
And David answers and says to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai son of Zeruiah, brother of Joab, saying, “Who goes down with me to Saul, to the camp?” And Abishai says, “I go down with you.”
7 David et Abisaï, parvenus de nuit près de la troupe, virent Saül couché et dormant dans l’enceinte, à son chevet sa lance fichée en terre; Abner et la troupe étaient couchés autour de lui.
And David comes—and Abishai—by night to the people, and behold, Saul is lying sleeping in the path, and his spear is pressed into the earth by his pillow, and Abner and the people are lying around him.
8 Abisaï dit à David "Dieu livre aujourd’hui ton ennemi en ta main; permets-moi de le clouer à terre de sa lance, d’un seul coup, sans avoir à redoubler."
And Abishai says to David, “God has shut up your enemy into your hand today; and now, please let me strike him with [the] spear, even into the earth, at once—and not repeat [it] to him.”
9 David répondit à Abisaï: "Ne le fais pas périr! Qui porterait impunément la main sur l’élu du Seigneur?
And David says to Abishai, “Do not destroy him; for who has put forth his hand against the anointed of YHWH and been acquitted?”
10 Non, par le Dieu vivant! ajouta David; mais que ce soit le Seigneur qui le frappe, ou qu’il meure quand son jour sera venu, ou qu’engagé dans une bataille il y périsse.
And David says, “YHWH lives; except YHWH strikes him, or his day comes that he has died, or he goes down into battle and has been consumed—
11 Me préserve le Seigneur de porter la main sur son élu! Prends seulement, je te prie, la lance qui est à son chevet, et le pot à eau, et retirons-nous."
far be it from me, by YHWH, from putting forth my hand against the anointed of YHWH; and now, please take the spear which [is] by his pillow, and the jug of water, and we go away.”
12 David prit donc la lance et le pot à eau au chevet de Saül, et ils s’en allèrent sans que personne le vît ou le sût, sans qu’aucun se réveillât; car tous dormaient, accablés par le Seigneur d’un profond sommeil.
And David takes the spear, and the jug of water by the pillow of Saul, and they go away, and there is none seeing, and there is none knowing, and there is none awaking, for all of them are sleeping, for a deep sleep [from] YHWH has fallen on them.
13 David, passant de l’autre côté, s’arrêta au sommet de la montagne, à distance: un grand intervalle les séparait.
And David passes over to the other side, and stands on the top of the hill far off—great [is] the place between them;
14 David appela la troupe, puis Abner, fils de Ner, en disant "Ne répondras-tu pas, Abner? Qui es-tu, dit Abner, toi qui cries ainsi près du roi?"
and David calls to the people, and to Abner son of Ner, saying, “Do you not answer, Abner?” And Abner answers and says, “Who [are] you [who] have called to the king?”
15 Et David dit à Abner: "Quoi! N’Es-tu pas un homme? Qui est ton égal en Israël? Pourquoi donc ne veilles-tu pas sur le roi, ton maître, de sorte que le premier venu peut venir l’assassiner?
And David says to Abner, “Are you not a man? And who [is] like you in Israel? But why have you not watched over your lord the king? For one of the people had come in to destroy the king, your lord.
16 Ce n’est pas bien ce que tu fais là! Par le Dieu vivant, vous êtes dignes de mort, vous qui n’avez pas veillé sur votre maître, sur l’oint du Seigneur! Et maintenant, regarde où est la lance du roi et le pot à eau placés à son chevet?"
This thing which you have done is not good; YHWH lives, but you [are] sons of death, in that you have not watched over your lord, over the anointed of YHWH; and now, see where the king’s spear [is], and the jug of water which [is] by his pillow.”
17 Saül reconnut la voix de David et dit: "Est-ce ta voix que j’entends, David, mon fils?" David répondit: "C’Est ma voix, seigneur.
And Saul discerns the voice of David and says, “Is this your voice, my son David?” And David says, “My voice, my lord, O king!”
18 Pourquoi, continua-t-il, mon seigneur persécute-t-il son serviteur? Qu’ai-je donc fait? Et quel est mon crime?
And he says, “Why [is] this—my lord is pursuing after his servant? For what have I done, and what evil [is] in my hand?
19 Et maintenant, que mon seigneur le roi daigne écouter les paroles de son serviteur: si c’est l’Eternel qui t’a excité contre moi, qu’il accueille mon offrande; mais si ce sont des hommes, ils seront maudits de Dieu, parce qu’ils m’ont empêché, en me chassant, de m’attacher à l’héritage de l’Eternel et m’ont dit: Va servir des dieux étrangers!
And now, please let my lord the king hear the words of his servant: if YHWH has moved you against me, let Him accept a present; but if [merely] the sons of men, they [are] cursed before YHWH, for today they have cast me out from being admitted into the inheritance of YHWH, saying, Go, serve other gods.
20 Et maintenant, que mon sang ne coule pas à terre, contrairement aux vues de l’Eternel! Car le roi d’Israël s’est mis en campagne à la poursuite d’une simple puce, comme on va pourchasser une perdrix dans les montagnes!"
And now, do not let my blood fall to the earth before the face of YHWH, for the king of Israel has come out to seek one flea, as [one] pursues the partridge in mountains.”
21 Saül répondit: "J’Ai péché… Reviens, mon fils, ô David! Je ne te ferai plus de mal, puisqu’en ce jour tu as respecté ma vie. Certes j’ai été sot et insensé au dernier point."
And Saul says, “I have sinned; return, my son David, for I do evil to you no more, because that my soul has been precious in your eyes this day; behold, I have acted foolishly, and err very greatly.”
22 "Voici, reprit David, la lance du roi; qu’un des serviteurs vienne la prendre.
And David answers and says, “Behold, the king’s spear; and let one of the young men pass over, and receive it;
23 L’Eternel rendra à chacun selon son mérite et sa loyauté; car il t’a mis tout à l’heure à ma merci, mais je n’ai pas voulu porter la main sur l’oint du Seigneur.
and YHWH turns each back to his righteousness and his faithfulness, in that YHWH has given you into [my] hand today, and I have not been willing to put forth my hand against the anointed of YHWH,
24 Et maintenant, comme ta vie a été, en ce jour, chose précieuse à mes yeux, puisse la mienne être précieuse aux yeux du Seigneur et puisse-t-il me sauver de toute peine!"
and behold, as your soul has been great in my eyes this day, so is my soul great in the eyes of YHWH, and He delivers me out of all distress.”
25 Et Saül dit à David: "Béni es-tu, mon fils David! Quoi que tu entreprennes, tu réussiras." David continua son chemin, et Saül retourna à sa demeure.
And Saul says to David, “Blessed [are] you, my son David, also working you work, and also prevailing you prevail.” And David goes on his way, and Saul has turned back to his place.
