1 Chroniques 18
1 David défit ensuite les Philistins, abattit leur puissance et leur enleva Gath et ses dépendances.
Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
2 Puis il vainquit les Moabites, qui furent assujettis à David et devinrent ses tributaires.
And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David’s servants, [and] brought gifts.
3 Puis David battit Hadarézer, roi de Çoba, du côté de Hamath, tandis qu’il marchait vers l’Euphrate pour étendre sa domination.
And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates.
4 David lui captura mille chars, sept mille cavaliers et vingt mille hommes de pied, fit mutiler tous les attelages, et n’en conserva que cent.
And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot [horses], but reserved of them an hundred chariots.
5 La Syrie de Damas vint au secours de Hadarézer, roi de Çoba; David tua aux Syriens vingt-deux mille hommes.
And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6 Il mit ensuite des garnisons dans la Syrie de Damas, qui devint sujette et tributaire de David. Ainsi le Seigneur protégeait David dans toutes ses campagnes.
Then David put [garrisons] in Syria-damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, [and] brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
7 David s’empara des boucliers d’or, que portaient les serviteurs de Hadarézer, et les transporta à Jérusalem.
And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 Egalement de Thibat et de Koun, villes de Hadarézer, le roi David emporta du cuivre en grande quantité, qui servit à Salomon pour faire la Mer de cuivre, les colonnes et les objets en cuivre.
Likewise from Tibhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezer, brought David very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass.
9 Toou, roi de Hamath, ayant appris que David avait défait toute l’armée de Hadarézer, roi de Çoba,
Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah;
10 envoya son fils Hadoram au roi David pour le saluer et le féliciter d’avoir combattu et vaincu Hadarézer, car celui-ci était en guerre avec Toou. Il lui envoyait en même temps toute sorte de vases d’or, d’argent et de cuivre.
He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to enquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou; ) and [with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass.
11 Ceux-là aussi, le roi David les consacra à l’Eternel, comme il avait fait de l’argent et de l’or qu’il avait enlevés à tous les peuples, aux Iduméens, aux Moabites, aux Ammonites, aux Philistins et aux Amalécites.
Them also king David dedicated unto the LORD, with the silver and the gold that he brought from all [these] nations; from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.
12 Abchaï, fils de Cerouya, avait battu dix-huit mille Iduméens dans la vallée du Sel.
Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand.
13 Il mit des garnisons dans l’Idumée, de sorte que toute l’Idumée devint tributaire de David. Et le Seigneur protégea David dans toutes ses voies.
And he put garrisons in Edom; and all the Edomites became David’s servants. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.
14 David régna sur tout Israël, et il gouverna tout son peuple avec justice et équité.
So David reigned over all Israel, and executed judgment and justice among all his people.
15 Joab, fils de Cerouya, était chef de l’armée; Josaphat, fils d’Ahiloud, archiviste;
And Joab the son of Zeruiah [was] over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, recorder.
16 Çadok, fils d’Ahitoub, et Abimélec, fils d’Ebiatar, prêtres; Chavcha, secrétaire;
And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Abimelech the son of Abiathar, [were] the priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
17 Benaïahou, fils de Joïada, était à la tête des Krêthi et Pelêthi; et les fils de David étaient les premiers ministres du roi.
And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada [was] over the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David [were] chief about the king.
